Virginia Politician’s Giving Out AR-15’s & Smith and Wesson No Longer
15/12/2016Hear what one Virginia politician is doing as he runs for office. FOX's Eben Brown has your "Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. If you're a politician, you're not allowed to buy votes, but apparently you're allowed to give voters guns! Corey Stewart is hoping to get the Republican nomination for governor in the commonwealth of Virginia and he's giving away an AR-15: (Stewart) "It's one of the more popular rifles sold in the United States. I also do want to bring attention to the need for constitutional carry in Virginia. We should have it." Stewart supports a move in Virginia to allow concealed carry with no license. Open carry in Virginia with no permit is allowed but that's for handguns, not long guns. Smith and Wesson will soon no longer be Smith and Wesson. The company's stockholders have voted to change the name of the parent company to American Outdoor brands corporation. But that's just the holding company. It'll say Smith and Wesson on the guns. And those are your Bullet Points, I'm Eben Brown, FOX News!

08/12/2016In Florida, you'll now be able renew your concealed carry permits online. FOX's Eben Brown has your "Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. About quarter million Florida concealed carry permits are due to expire in 2017. So instead of making everybody report to a state or county office to renew, or hiring extra staff for the paperwork. Florida agriculture commissioner Adam Putnam says it can now be done online: (Putnam) "Only in government is it novel to have commerce online when the rest of us are doing our holiday shopping on Amazon." Remember, Florida has seasonal residents, and some with Florida permits may be out of state. But for renewals, they don't need to see you in person anymore. Your prints are on file, anyway: (Putnam) "It's secure, and it's not compromising the background process that goes into determining whether someone is still eligible to have their license renewed." Florida has more than 1.6 million active concealed weapons licenses, the most of any state. And those are your "Bullet Points", I'm E

Firearm Sales Slow Down Following Election
17/11/2016The sales of firearms has slowed down since President-elect Donald Trump won the election. FOX's Eben Brown presents "Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. That big gun-buying frenzy appears to have leveled off since the election came to an end. Bryan Villella owns gun spot in Gainesville, Florida. (Villella) "Before the election, I think a lot of people were afraid Hillary possibly putting different gun laws into play." Donald Trump got a very early-on endorsement from the NRA and spent much of his campaign promising to appoint Supreme Court justices partial to existing Second Amendment interpretation. Dateline, Baltimore, where the city council votes 'yes' on disallowing toy guns. The ban would criminalize replicas of firearms that resemble working firearms too closely. The city council's president says not only are the faux firearms being used in assaults and robberies, but children are at risk of being mistaken for carrying the real thing. If the measure is fully approved, anyone carrying a replica firearm deem

October’s Firearm Background Checks Soar
03/11/2016Background checks for firearms are on the rise, could it be election related or due to the start of hunting season? FOX's Joy Piazza calls the shots in "Bullet Points": October was a big month for firearm background checks. More than two million of them, according to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. That's up 18 percent over the same month a year ago. Some people think it's because of the election campaign and concerns that if Hillary Clinton wins, there will be tighter gun rules. But it could also be due to deer hunting season starting in many states. For instance, Minnesota: (Valkanburg) "The guys are seeing some big bucks." Scott Van Valkanburg owns a hunting and fishing store in Duluth: (Valkanburg) "You get to see some really big deer. We've had some deer up in the 280's. That's a big animal." His advice, have fun, but hunt safely. A family in Oregon learned that the hard way this week. A man and his three young children were out deer hunting near Corvallis when the dad's 30-30 rifl

TSA’s New Gun Guidelines
27/10/2016The TSA has some new guidelines in place for anyone carrying a firearm with them and New York's tough anti-gun laws continue to be a hot topic. FOX's Steve Rappoport has this week's "FOX Bullet Points": Have you had stuff confiscated from your bag at airport security? Usually it's over-sized liquid containers like shampoo bottles. But sometimes more often than you might think it's a gun. And so the TSA is launching a campaign to urge travelers to make sure your firearms go into baggage underneath the plane. And you have to declare it with the airline. Otherwise, if TSA agents find a gun in your carry-on you can face criminal charges and a heafty fine. New York is one of the tougher anti-gun states and yet there are loads of guns on New York streets. 53,000 gun crimes in New York over the past five years. And nothing says love like diamonds and guns, a jewelry store Lubbock, Texas, is having its

Gun Control Remains a Big Topic on Campaign Trail
13/10/2016Gun control has been a hot topic this election season. FOX's Joy Piazza has the details in this episode of "Bullet Points": Like just about every other issue in this year's Presidential race, the issue of guns is very contentious: (Trump) "Hillary Clinton wants to essentially abolish the 2nd Amendment." Donald Trump has the endorsement of the NRA: (Trump) "Hillary wants to take your guns away. She wants to leave you unprotected in your home." Hillary Clinton says she's not anti-gun, but does want some changes: (Clinton) "I believe there should be comprehensive background checks and we should close the gun show loophole and close the online loophole." Clinton and Trump do agree that no one who's on the terrorist watch list should be allowed to buy a gun, but they don't agree on assault weapons. Clinton wants restrictions, Trump does not. And Trump has toughened his views over time. After the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, he said he favored tighter gun control. But this year after the nightclub attac

07/10/2016The National Rifle Association calls out gun control in wake of Kim Kardashian being robbed at gun point in Paris. FOX's Eben Brown has this week's "Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. The National Rifle Association's been the target of complaints following its tweets questioning the concept of gun control in the wake of Kim Kardashian's gunpoint robbery in a Paris hotel room. NRA's tweets about criminals not submitting to background checks in a nation like France, with some of the world's most strict gun ownership laws, were called 'classless' by some publications, like 'Mother Jones'. Other pro-Second Amendment pundits like Dana Loesch offered to teach Kim-K how to shoot back. We here at Bullet Points are just glad Kim wasn't physically hurt anymore that she was. September set a new record for the number of criminal background checks. The FBI says 1.99 million checks were done through the National Instant Criminal Background Check system last month... And that's the 17th month in a row to set a record, though n
