Second Amendment advocates are a bit upset the U.S. Supreme Court didn't take up the case of a California man suing over a denial of a concealed carry permit. In Peruta v. California, the sheriff in San Diego says he can refuse to issue concealed carry permits if the applicant doesn't show a real need for one. Justices Thomas and Gorsuch published a dissent to the court's rejection, calling it 'distressing.' Meanwhile, in Kansas, it'll be legal to carry without a permit on college campus' starting this Saturday. You know PayPal, and Square, and Stripe? All three are used more and more by retailers to complete electronic payments. But the three outfits, which are not banks, are now the target of a class action lawsuit. Firearms retailer Blar Gladwin of California, who has his federal firearms license, say the three agencies deny him their services because he sells guns. Gladwin claims it's a civil rights violation. One gun group is fighting over-the-counter hearing aids. FOX's Eben Brown has more with 'FOX Bullet Points': I'm Eben Brown. A bill in the U.S. Senate aims to reduce the cost of hearing aids, the kind your doctor would prescribe you for hearing loss. The proposed law would create class of hearing aids that could be sold at low cost and over the counter. But the measure is getting flak by groups like Gun Owners of America, who say the legislation could wind up regulating personal sound amplifiers used by hunters and sold at sporting goods stores. Dateline: Seattle, where city leaders are turning out their pockets now that a tax on gun sales, aimed at raising a half million in revenue while curbing firearms sales in the city, has so far brought in less than half the expected cash. People are just buying guns outside city limits avoiding the tax. Meanwhile, police in Seattle have seen a 70 percent jump in calls for service due to shots fired, and the number of shooting victims is up 30 percent. And those are you

Concealed carry permits are rising. FOX's Eben Brown has your 'FOX Bullet Points': I'm Eben Brown. More and more of you are getting your concealed carry permits. A compilation of the number of applications by the Crime Prevention Research Center says the number of concealed weapons licenses in the United States now exceeds 15 million, almost 16 million. The center will have its yearly data ready this summer. But it shows what other record-keepers at places like the NRA have been saying: The number of women getting their concealed carry permits is far greater than the number of men. Big problem with concealed carry and personal information in Florida. The sunshine state has well over a million and a half permits issued, but hackers may have stolen the private data of about 16,000 people. The state's agriculturedepartment, which manages the permit program, says they'll offer free credit monitoring for about 500 people they know they're social security numbers may have been stolen. FOX's Eben Brown has your 'FOX Bullet Points': I'm Eben Brown. New York Magazine is taking some flak for saying the NRA has found an ally in the terrorists of the Islamic state group. The magazine says their sources from ISIS, and previously al-Qaeda, had often joked about how easy it would be for one of their henchmen to get an AR-15 at a gun show in the much of the United States. The article was meant to highlight the NRA's stance on the supposed 'gun show loophole' regarding background checks. And it may come to pass that the U.S. Supreme Court will be the deciding factor in whether or not you have the right to keep and bear arms outside your home. The case is Peruta v California and has to do with the sheriff in San Diego not issuing permits to people who didn't provide a specific need to carry. Use caution when liking things on Instagram. FOX's Eben Brown reports: I'm Eben Brown. Parents of an Ohio middle schooler are relieved their son is allowed back to school after being suspended for liking a picture of a gun on Instagram: (Bolin) "I didn't think I did anything wrong." Zachary Bolin's parent's didn't think so either. He wasn't even at school when he clicked the photo of which, by the way, was an airsoft pistol. But when he showed up for class the next morning, he was brought aside and patted down. School officials in Edgewood City called it a 'threat' especially because the picture's caption reads as 'ready.' We at Bullet Points would like to express condolences to the family of Bob Owens. He was the longtime editor of the 'Bearing Arms' website and giant in the world of Second Amendment advocacy. Owens was just 46-years old. Authorities have ruled his death a suicide. The NRA holds its annual meeting and Texas making it easier to carry in state. FOX's Eben Brown with details in this "Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. The annual meeting of the National Rifle Association wrapped up after a weekend in Atlanta, and a visit from President Trump. And with a new NRA president. The board of directors picks Pete Brownwell to head the NRA. He's from Montezuma, Iowa and is part of the long-lived family firearms retailer Brownell's. Wayne Lapierre will continue as executive vice-president and legendary NASCAR owner Richard Childress is now first vice-president. Texas state lawmakers are looking to cut down the price of a carry permit. The very gun-friendly lone state has often been criticized for it's expensive permit fees, at a $140, one of the nation's highest. A new bill would bring the price down to $40 for both new licenses and renewals and would be free for peace officers. That would make it be one of the lowest cost permits in the USA. NRA's annual meetings have begun in Atlanta & you may want to be careful with a toy gun in Atlantic City, NJ. FOX's Eben Brown has your 'FOX Bullet Points': I'm Eben Brown. Don't run around with toy guns in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Police in that town confiscated more than 60 toys from a store on the city's famed boardwalk, saying they looked too real, despite having those bright orange plastic tips. The officers said those tips are too easily removable and the toys could be mistaken for real guns. It's time for the NRA annual meeting. It' starts today in Atlanta. Are you going? Tennessee is making a pitch to de-criminalize suppressors and Oregon lawmakers are considering a bill on confiscating firearms. FOX's Eben Brown has 'FOX Bullet Points': I'm Eben Brown. Tennessee's state legislature is moving toward the de-criminalizing of suppressors. A proposed law cleared the state Senate and could soon be passed in the state's House of Representatives. It's called the Tennessee 'Hearing Protection Act' and would remove suppressors from a list of banned fire arms in the state. Tennessee is one of nine states that currently ban suppressors, but a growing movement is convincing lawmakers the devices help preserve people's ears. Oregon's lawmakers are now considering a bill that would give the state more power to confiscate firearms, or prevent certain persons from obtaining them. State Senator Brian Boquist is a Republican, and the sponsor of the bill. His own son, a Navy veteran, used a gun to take his own life, sadly. Lots of Second Amendment legislation is coming about in the past week. North Dakota gets a new law, taking effect in August, allowing so-called 'constitutional carry', meaning one can carry a concealed firearm with no permit or background check when purchasing. Georgia's senate approves a bill for campus carry on public universities. But it would not allow carrying firearms at sports events. Arkansas is considering making that provision for its campus carry allowances. Dateline: Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where the local historical society was proud as punch to tell you an anonymous lender financed the purchase of Doc Holiday's Derringer, the one supposedly at his side when he died in a hotel room in the tiny town west of Denver. They paid $84,000 for it. But now, experts doubt it's the real thing, saying the man who possessed it for decades was a known huckster

FOX's Eben Brown has your "FOX Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. Connecticut could get a whole lot more gun friendly, if certain state legislators get their way. They've been discussing handgun concealed-carry permit reciprocity with states of similar standard for issuing permits. Currently Connecticut has no reciprocity, per se, but will issue permits to non-resident with permits in other states. The Norwich Bulletin newspaper reports Connecticut saw permit applications last year jump more than 70 percent. The NRA is hoping to discredit a claim by a gun control group about the effectiveness of suppressors in preventing hearing loss. The group 'Americans for Responsible Solutions' tweeted out that earplugs work better than supressors. The NRA highlights a CDC study saying suppressors are superior. The NRA and suppressor manufacturers claim the devices are safety tools and buyers shouldn't be subject to background checks, wait periods or special taxes. And those are your Bullet Points! West Virginia takes their fifth consecutive title at the NCAA Air Rifle championship in Columbus, Ohio: (Announcer) "Babic has fired, made the difference, point nine. We are at the end. The NRA continues to stand by President Trump. FOX's Eben Brown has more with "FOX Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. Last week's big convention for C-PAC featured one of the National Rifle Association's top executives taking a round to remind people it was the NRA itself that made the first big endorsement of Donald Trump's presidential campaign. Wayne Lapierre said it was Second Amendment-minded voters in key states that turned the tide: (Lapierre) "All across this country it was NRA members, and gun owners, who made a difference. In states like North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Florida. NRA members and gun owners helped put President Trump over the top." Lapierre promised the NRA would support the President again. And President Trump this week overturned a last-minute order made by President Obama aimed at preventing people who recieve social security due to mental disability from buying firearms. Both the NRA and the ACLU opposed that executive order. And those are your Bullet Points!

A federal appeals court is backtracking on Maryland's law banning semi-automatic rifles, including the AR-15. The law was passed in 2013. The fourth circuit court of appeals once voted to overturned it but after re-hearing, re-instated it. Two southern states might make changes to laws allowing one to carry firearms on college campuses. There's a proposal in Georgia to allow campus carry for people with permits. In Arkansas, lawmakers might make university faculty and employees undergo 16 hours of training, if they want to carry on campus. 26 states are now filing a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in the case against San Diego county, California. A local law limits carrying a weapon for self-defense outside one's home to people who get a special permit from the local sheriff. California officials have repealed their requirements of gun owners to provide photos of firearms, among other things, related to the state's expansion of rules regarding so-called 'assault weapons.' The state backtracked following promises of legal action by Second Amendment groups. Back East, in Connecticut, gun owners are crying foul over governor Daniel Malloy's plan to close a billion-and-a-half dollar gap in the state budget by tripling fees for permit applications and renewals: (Men) "We had the assault weapons ban a few years ago. Now, this. It's like I'm being taxed for one of the hobbies I enjoy." Some claim it's unfair to those with limited income who wish carry for self-defense. NCAA once again ranks Texas Christian University number one in air rifle. The entirely female team just beat the University of Texas El Paso and now boasts a season record of (12-0). A national registry to help solve gun crimes is in the works and it has already helped find a link to the shooting death of a police officer. FOX's Joy Piazza calls the shots with "Bullet Points": I'm Joy Piazza. A new tool for solving crimes by firing weapons involved in criminal activity. That's what the Phoenix police department is doing, connecting with a national database. A controversial Kansas State law aimed at protecting people from federal prosecution on certain gun crimes is now ruled out-of-bounds. A federal court says a gun shop owner can't claim to be protected by the state for violating the National Firearms Act by building his own short-barreled rifles and suppressors. Next time you go deer or bear hunting in Pennsylvania, you can take a semi-automatic rifle with you! The state's game commission approved it this week. And President Trump's pick for the Supreme Court gets a big nod from the National Rifle Association. Kansas is facing some pushback against steps toward looser gun legislation's and rules regarding President-elect Trump's inauguration. FOX's Eben Brown calls the shots with "FOX Bullet Points": I'm Eben Brown. This is the year Kansas is supposed to start allowing legally carried firearms at libraries, hospitals and college campuses. But now some state lawmakers are hoping to delay that indefinitely. It takes legislation for that to happen. Now that the new year and the new Congress is underway, both houses have introduced versions of a bill that would end the need to wait months and pay a $200 fee to buy a suppressor. Currently, suppressors are treated as weapons, but many firearms enthusiasts view them as devices designed to protect a shooter's ears from loud discharge.
