We live in a broken world that is full of threats and dangers. Our lives can get turned upside down in an instant. It would be nice if faith in God means that nothing bad happens to us but that’s not the case. Sometimes we’re in pretty scary situations. Sooner or later we all experience pain, all of us have troubles. This Sunday we’ll look at God’s work in the life of Naaman, the Syrian army leader, who suffers with an incurable illness. We’ll discover how God is using Naaman’s pain to fulfill His purpose. God is using a slave girl to bring about a heart transformation. John 16:5-15 Jesus said a number of things that were confusing to the disciples. But at the Last Supper He said something that really had them wondering. Motivation. What was the motivation behind the words? Intentions. What was the intention behind this deed? In our politically charged climate, we scrutinize every word or deed of public people, trying to define intention and motivation behind these. The Bible tells us that we must do everything in the name of Jesus. John 18:1-10 Whether you've been going to church for your entire life or you just swung by in the last few months, Jesus is asking us a basic question today: What are you looking for? or Who do we want? On the night Jesus was betrayed by Judas in the garden of Gethsemane He asks the soldiers who came to arrest Him: "Who is it you want?" The soldiers give the right answer, "Jesus," but did they have the right reasons?
