This was a rough week on Bachelor in Paradise - the spectre of queerbaiting lingers large over the podcast this week, as well as some, ahem, 'Rachael insensitivity', but we do our best to keep things positive with a sprinkling of early-2000s Australian rock band references, and the stories of our earliest experiences with alcohol.

This week, as Bachelor In Paradise continues the four-episode-a-week sprint towards its finale, we too must come to terms with the burden of providing too much quality content. In this episode, we talk about our worst date experiences, the history of alcohol availability on Australian reality TV, and the reason we're celebrating Apollo's rig, as well as unearthing some unexplored backstory behind a few of the shock exits on the show. Plus, what are we bathing in this week?

This week, we discuss the reason behind Laurina's surprise exit, identify the filmic techniques that are used to make the show feel unpredictable, and debate the degree to which producers pulled the strings on a couple of key confrontations on these two episodes. Hi! Sorry about the podcast! Network Ten programmed a thousand episodes of Bachelor in Paradise this week, so we've completely lost the plot. This time, we discuss the first two of this week's episodes, including our ever-changing opinions on Jarrod, our reactions to intruders from US Bachie, and we uncover the origin story of the island where BIP takes place. The Bachelor of Hearts podcast is back! We spend some time catching up & getting acquainted with our brand-new co-host Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, spill the beans on Osher Günsberg sliding into our DMs, and find out how Max fared in his self-imposed "No-Milk-Before-Bed-uary" challenge. We then dive into our full recap of the premiere week of Network Ten's Bachelor In Paradise, stopping to discuss secret relationships, the producers' decision to cast Blake Colman, and whether any of us have a Jake Ellis story.

Max watched this week's hometown episode along with a huge crowd, and Xavier watched on his own, so we've got all sorts of different takes on this important week of The Bachelorette AU! We also find time to discuss the many accomplishments of Tony Hawk, forget that it was Kate Hudson in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days, and match up Sophie's top five men to the cast of F·R·I·E·N·D·S. Plus: slime, novelty dipping sauces, and a quick catch-up on Garfield.

We are finally back with another new episode, and we've got a lot of catching up to do, because in the last two weeks, four brand-new intruders joined the fray, Sophie sent a total of nine suitors packing, and a shirtless Apollo snuggled with a bunch of adorable puppies. So, we debate the varying levels of importance Bachie places on attributes such as academic excellence, immense personal wealth, and the ability to competently cook Mexican food. Also - we go in deep with #PlantGate conspiracy theories, because of course we do.

Things are heating up already on week 2 of The Bachelorette, and this week we saw some real highs and lows; from a creative and fun date using Sophie's family as undercover agents, to the frustrating and exhausting 'Real Man Games'. Plus, endorsements for a new diet cola, our pitch for a Skithouse reality dating show, and (sigh) yes, a couple of Dune Rats jokes.

The Bachelor of Hearts podcast is back! This week, we begin our coverage of Sophie Monk's journey for love on Season 3 of Network Ten's The Bachelorette. We discuss how a celebrity Bachelorette changes the foundations of the show, celebrate the evergreen Mosher Günsberg, and measure up potential suitors like Grapefoot, hunky magician Apollo, and the dabulous Hayden.

This week we were joined by the wonderful Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich (of CAMP COPE & Kelso), for a spirited discussion of the final week of Matty J's search for love on The Bachelor Australia's fifth season. Despite double-booking and going to watch a Jeff Rosenstock concert instead of watching the finale live, this episode was recorded at an ungodly hour under the influence of caffeine, alcohol, and pure unbridled enthusiasm. Will our final three, much like Matty's, be whittled down by the end of the episode? You'll have to listen to find out.

It's a very special Bachelor of Hearts podcast this week, largely due to the fact that Xavier is celebrating a birthday, which makes everything on this week's Bachie seem like a thoughtful gift. Between dramatic hometown dates, the rapidly approaching finale, and a surprise appearance by James Blunt, there's plenty for 

In the lead-up to hometown dates, we're taking stock of the final eight women as they're whittled down to 6; and we are certainly getting to the pointy end now. (Is that a whittling joke?) We stop to pay our respects at the church of Dad, try to figure out how helicopters work, and eventually remember the name of the guy from Looper.

A very late recording session finds us with a lot of pent-up Bachie energy: this week, we explore the complexity of villains, award a ton of points to Tara and Elise, and break down how reality TV producers orchestrate the show's biggest moments. Plus, we realise this season is rigged.

This week, some genuinely awful reality TV drove a rift through the BoH boys - so much so that we were forced to record remotely, several days late. (And it was definitely all the show's fault, nothing to do with our organisational skills.) Like you, we were absolutely flummoxed by a five-second shot of a horse peeing on national TV this week, but in this episode we do our best to dissect it, along with the other highlights, lowlights & delights of week 2. This episode, we've got animal rights in our sights, as well as gross product placement and porn-y dress-ups - plus, we put our Arts degrees to good use in criticising Matty & Laura's charcoal portraits. Also, a quick Geography catch-up for Max.

Matty J's season of The Bachelor has officially begun, so we pull apart the big events of the first week; including limo exits, Matty's one-on-one time with Elora & Lisa, and the season's first Group Date. We take a hard look at some of the cultural stereotypes that pervade the show, and cast a critical eye towards the more insensitive moments in both these first episodes and the subsequent media response. In doing this, we make a variety of intertextual references, particularly to other examples of Peak TV such as Young Sheldon (premiering on CBS this November).
