If you have been a guest, a listener, or a Patron, if you’ve asked a question, written a review, left a comment or shared the show over the past 200 weeks, thank you. When I started the show I never really thought about what it would be like getting to 50, 100, or 200 episodes. It’s been so many different things. I’d rather just keep my head down and move to 201, but the support for the show is a tad overwhelming. So, thank you. I’m proud of the show, not because I’m doing it, but because it’s a little spark of joy in

See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. A Southampton team missing its talisman and its veteran left-back put on a show on Friday night. The team completely swept Newcastle aside and did so in a way that Steve Bruce’s next detective mystery novel could be all about how a man from Austria came to England and slew all in his path. Saints finished the night on top of the Premier League table and will spend the international break in a Champions League place. There’s still way too much of the season left for us to become fixated on table position, but we really are playing some impressive football, and, a

The final 30 minutes were an absolute nightmare. From injuries to conceding 3 goals, 2 in stoppage time. However, Saints took the points and gave themselves a chance to go top of the table for at least 1 night with a win this Friday at home to Newcastle. Who knew we would be here after losing 0-9 just a year ago. Joining me to discuss the matc

Ep. 197- Black, White, and Red, with Matt Beling of We Are Southampton

See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. Saints knocked off Everton on Sunday afternoon, protecting Arsenal’s Invincibles for yet another year, and yet somehow failing to avoid the “they lost 0-9 a year ago. They’ve come a long way since then…” tropes from pundits and commentators alike. It was one of the best performances I can remember from a Saints team. From creating chances to defending set-pieces to controlling the game up by two goals and, eventually, with a man advantage. I expect Saints to press everyone we play, to disrupt the flow of the game, to put it maximal effort. But I didn’t expect Saints to show some other sides of the game. T

See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. Saints went to London and, with Chelsea, put on a show… for the 0 fans in attendance, the international audiences who watched for almost nothing, those in the pubs down the street from the stadium and around England, those who listened on the radio, and the few who decided to pay up the £14.95 to watch from home. and the few who decided to pay up the £14.95 to watch from home. It wasn’t a match you’d show your kids and say “go do that.” Especially if said kid is a defender or goalkeeper, but it was entertaining for most of the 90 minutes. Of course, it’s a bit sweeter given we scored the sto

Ep. 195- Total Recall: Malcolm Waldron, A Collaboration with Saints Archive
13/10/2020 Duración: 36minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 00:00 Intro- 00:55 Leon Burton of Saints Archive- 4:25 Malcolm Waldron- 10:23 End Credits- 32:58 The Southampton Dellivery Podcast is proud to support the work of Kick It Out as they work to tackle racism and discrimination in the game we all love. See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. This week I am proud to present the first-ever collaboration between the Saints Archive and this show, as we team up to continue the work they started with the Total Saints Podcast and bring you Total Recall. In our first edition of Total Recall, we spoke with former Saint Malcolm Waldron, who played his football for Saints in the late 1970s and early 1980s, before moving on and eventually being forced to retire due to a knee injury. It’s always exciting to try something a little bit different, but the best part about doing this show (and part of the reason I started the podcast) is meeting, listening to, and learning from so many great people. See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. We’re all about positivity this week. The only negative is my COVID19 test results so there’s no need to quarantine, and with Saints getting a 2-0 win this weekend, there’s no need to socially distance myself from the result either. Saints managed a fully competent performance on Sunday afternoon. Aside from a 15-minute spell to start the second half, Saints controlled the game in its entirety. They created chances, took 1 nicely, karate kicked another, and had a few more chances to add to the total. In the end, a fairly comfortable performance, albeit one that can still be improved on. Ep. 193- No Substitute(s), with Jake Hughes of St. Mary's Musings

See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. Saints finally did it. There is no substitution for a win, under any circumstances. Do the dirty work off the ball, take your chance, put in the hard yards, and whatever other cliches you’d like to add in, because they add up to 3 points, on the road, at a place, and against a team, that’s been a nightmare for us in recent seasons. Yes, Burnley were far from full-strength, and, no, they aren’t exactly having a nice time, but I don’t care. A goal for Ings, a win for Saints, and some hope that we finally may be starting to play a little bit of the football we saw at the end of last season (that is probably going too far, I know). Ep. 192- We Lost 5-2 (2-5, actually) with Christian Candler
22/09/2020 Duración: 01h37sShow Timeline: Intro- 00:54 Christian Candler- 3:19 Boufal- 10:23 Brentford- 12:42 Spurs- 18:39 Handball- 45:49 End Credits- 57:48 The Southampton Dellivery Podcast is proud to support the work of Kick It Out as they work to tackle racism and discrimination in the game we all love. See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. Look at this photograph. It shows the final score to our match against Spurs, played at St. Mary’s last Sunday at noon. Saints were cut open by the Son/Kane combo as Hojberg and José Mourinho took all 3 points from the south coast in what was a second-half I would like to forget (and that I woke up at 4:00am to see). Christian Candler joins me this week to discuss the loss and try to put together how Saints have fallen from grace over the short break, and how they might look to get out of it! Ep. 191-It Starts (Poorly) Again, with Tom Murray

See how you can get involved at kickitout.org. We were all very excited about the start of the Premier League season. And with good reason. Ralph was here, we got KWP permanently, we hadn’t lost at Selhurst Park in several years, and with that, more than 98% of Saints fans who voted on the Athletic’s poll said they were optimistic about the start of the season. But, when the season kicked off Saints didn’t, and they failed to win again on opening day. But, it’s not all doom and gloom, and Tom Murray and I try to take some positives out of a disappointing day against the Eagles. Ep. 190- It Starts (Again), with Lucy Highnett

From JWP’s penalty spot groundskeeping in Reykjavík to shirt sponsors, TV deals, and transfers, Lucy and I discuss the ongoings, and the hopeful outgoings, of everything around the team. I also admit some pretty embarrassing things and insult Burnley midfielders (that one is for you, Dan), all because we were having a good time. I always enjoy having Lucy on the show and I look forward to having her back on when the season gets underway. Also, I know there will be people who, after listening to this episode, say “you don’t know anything about this team either.” Fair play to all of you in advance. Also, I promise, I really do love this team. Lastly, I also a

Rob Maddox (@robmaddox_ on Instagram) joins the show. From new numbers to changed front of shirt sponsors, England call-ups and more, Rob and I roll through the week that was around Saints. I definitely made some mistakes, and circumstances have changed since we recorded, but here is the conversation that we had. I hope you enjoy it, and most importantly, thanks for listening! Ep. 188- Total Recall, Recalled
25/08/2020 Duración: 41minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:55 Will Dawe- 1:27 Fixtures- 3:43 Discussing Jim MacCalliog- 9:46 On This Day- 16:35 Total Recall- Jim MacCalliog- 19:51 End Credits- 39:28 Joining me this week to briefly discuss the release of the fixture list and introduce this week’s show is Will Dawe, owner of Saints Archive. We are teaming up to continue the tradition of the Total Recall segment which formerly appeared on the Total Saints Podcast for the past few seasons. This week we are bringing you the original Total Recall interview with a very special guest. Will, Ben, and Leon chatted to the man who played the pass for Bobby Stokes in 76 (and he did a lot of other things as well). Jim McCalliog is held in high regard around Southampton, Wolverhampton, and elsewhere, and he also loves to chat. We’re working on more episodes, and we wanted to bring you this one to whet your appetite. Make sure to follow the Saints Archive on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and at saintsarchive.

Ep. 187-Flowers After Showers, with Lee Hurrell and Jodie Burchell
18/08/2020 Duración: 55minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:54 Lee and Jodie- 6:18 End Credits- 52:11 So much happened this week in the world of Saints, and most of it happened after we recorded this episode. But that’s fine because this week was never supposed to be about Saints. This week we’re focusing on the Southampton Women’s Football Club (Soton Women’s FC) and we’re joined by first-team coach Lee Hurrell and new signing Jodie Burchell. Between the two of them, we walk through the end of last season, learning from hard times, moving, reaching for goals (and scoring them), and much more. They got their preseason underway in a friendly on Sunday, so be sure to check in with them on their new website and stay up-to-date with them on their push for promotion. As always, get in touch with the club using the links below. The club and players rely on sponsorships to keep them on the field and their season would be impossible without them. You can also get in touch with Hayley for any media inquires. All lin

We’ll follow roughly the same format with one major difference. In addition to talking about moments and players that stood out over the last 11 months, I/we have a major announcement. Will, the Saints Archive, and I are teaming up to help make sure the “Total Recall” segment of Total Saints Podcast continues. After speaking with Ben from TSP and working it out with Will, it’s an honor to be able to partner with the Archive and help make sure the interviews and reflections keep going. Ep. 185- Reflections on The Season, Part 1
04/08/2020 Duración: 56minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:55 Luke Millard- 3:14 Justin Woodward- 18:28 Graham Copp- 31:13 Tim Bisantz- 43:21 End Credits- 53:53 For the next two weeks (Ep. 185 and 186) we'll chat with several fans of the team and the show and get their thoughts and assessments on the season that just ended, and ask them what they think needs to happen in order to make sure we keep moving forward next year. I spoke with Luke Millard and Justin Woodward in the normal podcast recording space early last week before having to make the drive north to Washington state to deal with some family stuff. While I was there I had to delay a couple of recordings because we were busy, but I did manage to speak with Graham Copp and Tim Bisantz... I spoke to them from the passenger seat of the car. I have no regrets other than I wish the coffee shop would have been open before we started. Follow this week's guests on social media: Luke Millard- Instagram- @millard505 Justin Woodward-

Ep. 184- From 0-9 to July 2020, Looking Back and Going Forward with Jake Hughes and Zach Lowy
28/07/2020 Duración: 01h15minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:31 Intro- 1:26 Jake Hughes- 4:58 Zach Lowy- 49:03 End Credits- 1:12:41 The 2019/2020 season is finally over. A lot of bad things we never imagined could happen actually happened. Liverpool won the league, we got beat 0-9 at home (in case you missed it) we’re in the middle of a world-wide pandemic, there are continued instances of racial injustice all around, and Total Saints Podcast called it quits. But, there are some positive signs as well. Saints had their best finish to a season in several years, the club look to be addressing issues in the squad already, Bournemouth are relegated, we beat them, P*mpey, and Brighton in their own backyards, took 18 points from the promoted teams over the course of the season and we have RALPH HASENHUTTL as our manager. To help recap the Sheffield match and discuss the season I’m joined by Jake Hughes of St. Mary’s Musings. It’s always great to chat with Jake, even if he doesn’t like Oriol Romeu as much as some of

Ep. 183- Popping Cherries, Bursting Bubbles, with Ben Stroud of Archers Road End
21/07/2020 Duración: 01h10minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:53 Ben Hernandez-Stroud- 3:51 Away Performances- 14:21 Lineup vs Bournemouth- 31:12 Listener Questions- 54:34 End Credits- 1:07:50 Che Adams’ late strike put the nail in a Saints FC shaped nail in Bournemouth’s coffin, but the death blow came just moments earlier when VAR ruled out their late equalizer for offside. Honestly, it wasn’t very pretty. Bournemouth were more direct than THAT overconfident guy in the bar around 1:45 am after 16 drinks. We didn’t really press Bournemouth in their own half, mostly because they sent it upfield as soon as they had it at their feet. Still, Danny Ings managed a goal (we’ll forget the saved penalty), Saints kept a clean sheet, made it 31 points on the road this season (second only to Liverpool), eclipsed Puel’s point total of 46, and have a chance to finish as high as 11th… and all that despite losing 0-9 to Leicester City in October. Can you believe it! Joining me on the show this week to d

Ep. 182- Re:United, and It Feels So Good, with Alex Hart
14/07/2020 Duración: 01h12minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:53 Alex Hart- 5:00 Intro to Football- 8:10 Everton- 19:28 United- 26:31 KWP/Williams Incident- 53:08 Listener Questions- 1:01:41 End Credits- 1:10:14 I wouldn’t say Saints surprised us in the last two matches, and they shouldn’t have surprised Manchester United on Monday night either. The gameplan was, at its core, the same. Press. Force Mistakes. Take Chances. Make them beat you. And, it worked. The hottest team in the Premier League since the Project Re-Start kicked off was forced to drop points for just the second time since football came back. Star players were held in check, pockets were picked, and Saints left with a well-deserved point after taking an early lead and then clawing back a late equalizer. Joining me to discuss the match this week is Alex Hart (Twitter @hartgarfunkel), a US-based Saints fan that I met (virtually) after Carl Anka captured our shared love of Saints in THIS article in The Athletic. It was fanta

Ep. 181- All Pep's Men (Couldn't Take 3 Points From St. Mary's Again), with Lucy Highnett
07/07/2020 Duración: 01h05minShow Timeline: Intro Music- 0:00 Intro- 0:53 Lucy Highnett- 3:48 Che Adams- 25:00 Subs and such- 38:50 Questions- 45:09 End Credits- 1:03:00 Saints managed to do what only *checks notes* 6 other teams had managed this season, beat Manchester City in the Premier League. We aren’t going to go full Bournemouth and start claiming a trophy for winning a football match- we’ll also defer the trophy for most viewed Premier League match- but we should take the time to recognize the victory and realize the impact a win over the defending Champions could have going forward. After all, it was Stuart Armstrong’s pressure that produced the Che Adams chance which, in case you missed it, he put away brilliantly. Sure, we sat deeper and deeper as the match went on, and on most other days at least one or two of City’s shots deflect off of a defender and find their way into the net, or a cross finds the head of an attacker at the back post, but not this time. Saints managed to do it at home for o
