The rollercoaster ride that is following Saints is here, and we experienced it all this week. Our emotions followed the team up and down as Saints lost to Arsenal in disappointing fashion, keeping the home form intact, and then went on the road to HAND Watford a defeat and take all three points back to St. Mary’s. Saints now sit on 40 points. Closer to 7th than 17th (though other teams have games to come later this week), and we can be relatively confident in how the team responded to the performance against Arsenal. A three-month layoff might have been just what Danny Ings and company needed as Saints began Project Restart with an emphatic 0-3 win at Carrow Road. We discuss, among other things, his journey to the job, what it looks like, how he went from selling mobile phones and working in call centers to quarreling with Sammy and taking charge of the halftime relay, while still making time to cook, present the news, and entertain us all while he’s doing it. Until we know more, we’ll just stay alert. This week we’re avoiding most of that and diving into trips to the Dell, Ferry rides, keeping up with Saints from abroad before the internet was a thing, cup finals won and lost, and more with Graham Copp. Graham is a lifelong Saints fan from the Isle of Wight and who now lives near Washington DC. I’ve joked in the past, both to the Saints FC podcast guys and Total Saints Podcast crew, and perhaps publically, that when we started our respective shows Saints’ form took a turn for the worse. The second half of Puel’s season, followed by Pellegrino and Hughes. For a time, it seemed like the more podcasts we had the worse the team did. With Saints seeming to turn it around somewhat recently, Patrick Surlis and his brother Jack went about setting up their show (Oh When The Saints and on Twitter @OWTSaintspod). There wasn’t a downturn in form when they did, though. Instead, the world almost stopped turning, a Global Pandemic froze life as we know it and football basically became something we wish we could see again. Still, Patrick and Jack continued with their passion, and now the first three episodes are out for all of us to enjoy with our added downtime. So far Patrick and Jack have hosted 3 former members of the SaintsFC team and will be bringing in a range of guests from all around football to round out

Saints’ most recent visit to West Ham (and seemingly every time we’ve played them recently) is a case in point. But, sometimes things do go the right way. Burnley came to St. Mary’s and brought with them the weather and a bit of misery as Saints’ fans fought the wind and rain to watch what amounted to a very forgettable match. Other than Danny Ings scoring again (to make it 18 in all comps this year and 15 in the PL), nothing good happened. Redmond was injured in training, Boufal went off early, we let in a goal directly from a corner and had all kinds of possession but no real chances. Burnley had a higher Xg than we did, and even Carl Anka will tell you that’s not supposed to happen.  Anyway, Dan was kind enough to join me to fill me in on all that he and his father have been up to recently. From doing the 92 to being interviewed by the Guardian and raising money for a couple of local charities along the way. It’s a pleasure and an honor to have Dan back on the show, and, as I state in the show, that episode- Ep. 75- with Steve and Dan, is one of my all-time favorite episodes.
