  • Ep. 141- The Pride of the Southcoast, with Matt Beling

    24/09/2019 Duración: 01h15min

Let’s just say it, Friday night wasn’t great. Team selection, execution, performance, in the first half especially, was just plain bad. We’ve been living on the edge for some time, and, of all teams, Bournemouth were the ones to make us pay. Now, though, our focus turns to THE derby. P*mpey away on Tuesday night in the 3rd round of the EFL/Carabao Cup. The strongest team is a must (at least to us) and Ralph has stated he and the players are aware of the significance of the match.  Joining me to discuss the loss to the Cherries and preview tonight’s clash with P*rtsmouth, is the man who ran @WeAreSouthampton (on Instagram) for so many years. Matt does the logo for the show and has graciously given me advice on everything from Photoshop (he’s very kind) to show structure and everything else. I celebrated episode 100 by having him on, and it’s been great to catch up with him for episode 141.  If you’d like to contact Matt on Twitter, you can do it @wesouthampton. Matt is a great guy and, as you’ll hear in the

  • Ep. 140- Will the Real Moussa Djenepo Please Stand Up, with Lucy Highnett

    17/09/2019 Duración: 01h24min

Warning: the only thing longer than this episode is the time it takes for Vestergaard to turn and try to cover a right-winger bursting down the channel… I hope you enjoy it. Saints secured their third successive away win (and our 3rd league match with one team ending the match with only 10 players on the pitch), away at Bramall Lane on Saturday. The game had it all. It was open, entertaining, and almost nobody would have thought it would finish with only a single goal. Djenepo went from wayward left wing-back to Malian Messi in the space of 1 change of formation, and gave us all a moment we won’t forget when he gave a kid in the crowd his shirt after the match, producing one of the most passionate fist shakes since my mom caught my brother and I blowing up lemons with firecrackers (like 2 years ago).  The in-game management from Hasenhuttl was brilliant. The starting lineup, maybe not so much. Trying to put the game in perspective was difficult for me. I was so enthralled with the contest that I was afraid

  • Ep. 139- Talk of the Town, Top of the League, with Hayley Newman and Philippa Holden of Southampton Women's FC

    10/09/2019 Duración: 01h12min

The international break might be in full effect, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any club football being played. The FA Women’s Super League kicked off this weekend with a number of derbies spread around the country, some being played in the men’s stadiums and almost all drawing big crowds. Building on the back of the World Cup this past summer, the FAWSL is looking to keep the interest in the sport growing, and the weekend wasn’t a bad start. The interest in the Women’s game doesn’t stop at the top tier. The Southampton Women’s Football Club has noticed the swell in support as well. As Southampton’s longest-running women’s club, they’re happy to see people come out and support them as they battle for promotion this season against, among others, the women of the Southampton Football Club.  This week I’m lucky to be joined by two members of the team. Hayley Newman is the media manager for Soton Women’ and Philippa Holden in a midfielder for the club who’s rise to the first team started more than 4 years ag

  • Ep. 138- The Big Man is the Mane Man, with Rob Maddox

    03/09/2019 Duración: 01h04min

The first international break has arrived. The first 4 matches done. The opening home matches were never going to be easy. With both the reigning European Champions and, well, a team that used to be really good, a point or two would have accepted by most of the fan-base. After a disappointing opening day, doubt may have crept into the minds of some, but with 4 points through 4 matches entering the break, having advanced in the Carabao Cup, and having a couple of weeks to get guys healthy, overall things are not looking too bad. Could they be better? Absolutely. But we seem to be moving in the right direction.  The club sent a number of players out on loan just before the close of the European window, but I didn’t talk about that with this week’s guest, Rob Maddox. Rob joins the show again having arrived back on the UK just in time to attend the Fulham match, try to shake the jet lag, and them discuss the United match with me. It’s always a pleasure to catch up with Rob and get his feelings on Saints and more

  • Ep. 137- Delightful Djenepo. Beautiful Boufal. Bright in Brighton. With Ben Hernandez-Stroud of The Archers Road End

    27/08/2019 Duración: 01h18min

First clean sheet of the season. First goal for Djenepo. A debut for Danso. A back post tap in for Redmond. An assist for Boufal and a win for Hasenhuttl.  Saints made difficult work against 10 man Brighton on Saturday. But, at the end of the day, a win is a win and 3 points on the road is nothing to sneeze at. Joining me to discuss the match, the arrival of the new opposition video analyst/assistant coach, Forster’s return to Celtic and more, is Ben Hernandez-Stroud of the Archers Road End. Ben is on Twitter @archersroadend as well as on Instagram and Facebook. Ben is currently taking a break from writing the blog, but when he comes back, you’ll want to make sure you are in touch with the blog. Until then, Twitter will have to suffice.  Blog- https://archersroad.wordpress.com/ Twitter- @archersroadend Instagram- @archersroadend Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/archersroadend/ Special thanks to Ben for coming on the show. It’s always great to catch up, and I can’t wait to do it again. C

  • Ep. 136- Lucky Little Liverpool, with Jay Grant of the Southampton Page

    20/08/2019 Duración: 01h16min

Saints fell to Liverpool at St. Mary’s over the weekend, a result that will come as a shock to absolutely no one in the football world. It leaves Saints with no points and only one goal scored through two Premier League matches, with two more fixtures coming before the first international break of the season. Saints, however, did play well for large parts of the match, dictating the game for long periods, and looking on par with Liverpool (even if they weren’t at their best). The game featured a lot of missed chances by both sides and Saints eventually walked away with positives to build on but no share of the points. Joining me this week to discuss the match and some new developments in coverage is Jay from the  Southampton Page. The Southampton Page is the official partner of the show and just launched its YouTube Channel earlier this week. The first Matchday Experience will be up late on Saturday night after the Brighton match, but you can subscribe right now to make sure you don’t miss it (plus there’s a

  • Ep. 135- Banged In Burnley, Now for Plan B. With Luke Osman of Read Southampton

    13/08/2019 Duración: 01h17min

The best laid plans… After a pre-season that couldn’t have gone any better in many respects. The style of football developed greatly, the team seemed to jell. Players worked their way into and out of the team (Hi Charlie, Mario… and wherever you are Guido). The training trips, the warm weather, the pre-season matches, everything seemed to point towards Saints being better than they showed on Saturday. But, Saints are also much the same team (in terms of squad composition) as they were last year, and Saturday’s performance at Burnley showed it. Luke Osman joins me this week to discuss the disappointing start to the season, as well as look at some changes happening around Read Southampton. We also answer some of your questions (thanks for sending them in) and more.  If you don’t do so already, give Luke and Read Southampton a follow on Twitter, or send him an email if you are looking to potentially write for Read Southampton.  Luke- @LukeOsmanRS Read Southampton-@ReadSouthampton Luke’s Email- luke@

  • Ep. 134- It's All Fun and Game Until Burnley Away, with Lucy, Jake, Bob and Luke

    06/08/2019 Duración: 01h27min

The 2019/2020 season is almost here. Saints have had their first pre-season under Ralph Hasenhuttl, they’ve brought in a few attacking options, they’ve looked, for the most part, good during pre-season. But, at the time of recording (July 29, 30, and August 1), there were no additions in defense, which is something several of this week’s guests key in on.   For this episode, I’m joined by 4 guests, Lucy Highnett, Jake Hughes, Bob Brown, and Luke Osman. We run through a range of questions from the assessment of pre-season and the transfer window to predictions for a number of categories for the coming season. Be sure to give this week’s guests a follow and give their various projects a follow and/or listen when you get the chance. Also, let us know what you think of the episode and what your predictions are for the coming season.  Lucy Highnett- @lucyhighnett is the newest member of the @totalsaintspod. If you don’t already, you can listen here. Jake Hughes- @JJHughes_ is the man behind @StMarysMusings. Be

  • Ep. 133- Puzzling Pieces, Making them Fit, with Jay from the @SouthamptonPage

    30/07/2019 Duración: 01h18min

When life comes at you fast, you call on your friends. That’s what I did this week. My plans for Ep. 133 fell apart late Sunday, but a quick message to the Group Chat and Jay(@CXEAdams), who runs the @southamptonpage, the official partner of the show, was ready to go. Fast forward to Monday morning and away we went.  We quickly-ish recap some major moments of the preseason and then dive into listener questions- so many questions, thank you! We get to as many as we can and really enjoy ourselves. Probably too much, honestly. Top scorer predictions, league predictions, who should leave, who should stay, who is about as much use as a chocolate teapot? Listen and find out our thoughts and be sure to let us know yours. Thanks for everything, you are all wonderful. • Ep. 132- A New Season, A Season of New, with Aaron Smith and Lee Hurrell of the Southampton Women's Football Club

    23/07/2019 Duración: 59min

This week Saints are off to China and Ireland to continue their preseason, but while the boys are away, the ladies will play… and they’ll play Spurs. If you are unaware, the Southampton Women’s Football Club is also preparing for their season and they are ramping things up by playing Spurs of the Women’s Super League this coming Sunday. There is more information about the match on all the Southampton Women’s FC social media channels, so be sure to check it out and get down to the ground to see just how good Southampton Women’s FC is. Beautiful football, (hopefully) beautiful weather and a good day out for you and the family.    This week on the show I had the chance to chat with Aaron Smith and Lee Hurrell (@westspice and @LHfutebol) about their new roles at the team, some of the changes they’ve made since coming in, how the team is kicking on and what they hope to achieve this year. It’s always a pleasure to be able to chat with representatives from the club and get an idea of how things are going, and I a

  • Ep. 131- Chill Out, Charlie, Mario's Media, and Adams in the Family, with Aydin Osman

    16/07/2019 Duración: 01h07min

Pre-season match #1 is done. A 1-1 draw in Austria against a team that is at the end of the pre-season and ready to play competitive football. I will not say I am enjoyed watching the match, but that’s because I couldn’t due to legal restrictions and rights and all of that. No big deal, though. From the highlights, it looked like the guys were running and played well enough, created some good chances, made a few mistakes and it’s all to be expected. Live, learn and move on. This week has been a roller coaster so far. Been to LA and back on Sunday to view a live podcast with my very best Arsenal Friend Josh. Got back after 11:00pm Sunday evening and then woke up ready to record this episode, only to have my dad call me in a semi-emergency, which lead to he and I spending the next 5 or so hours at the hospital. Eventually, we got him home and settled and Aydin (Twitter- @aydin_osman96 and Instagram- @aydinosman96) was waiting on the other end of a Skype call to do the episode. Now, here it is… we have a lot to

  • Ep. 130- Give Us Something To Talk About, with Tom Murray

    09/07/2019 Duración: 01h15min

This week was basically the opposite of last week. The boys are back, but there isn’t really all that much going on with the club. Tom Murray joins me this week to discuss what rumors there are, the potential outgoing transfers, Tom’s work with Alan March Sport and answer your questions on this week’s show. If you would like to get in contact with Tom or have questions about Alan March Sport’s offerings, the links below will help you get in touch with the right people. • Ep. 129- Sign Ings On Targett, with Jay from the Southampton Page

    02/07/2019 Duración: 01h09min

What a fantastic start to the week. Before I was even awake on Monday morning, Saints had taken care of some serious business in the transfer market, bringing in Che Adams from Birmingham and shipping Matt Targett off to Aston Villa. Not long after that, Danny Ings was officially announced as a Saint after his loan spell from LFC ended.  That makes two signings under Hasenhuttl and two attacking options added to the team. It’s also the first major departure of Ralph’s tenure. Targett played a significant role last season when Bertrand was out, but was going to be short of the first team football he craves and was coveted by several clubs according to rumors on the internet (where everything is true).  Joining my this week to discuss all the movement, on and off the pitch, is Jay of @southamptonpage (Instagram). From Adams to Targett to the backroom shuffle, and social media mishaps, we break down what’s going on at Saints. If you don’t follow the @southamptonpage (Twitter), go do that. We’ll be back with a

  • Ep. 128- Celebrating 10 Years of League 1 Minus 10, with Glen de la Cour

    25/06/2019 Duración: 01h27min

*Note- this week's episode contains language I would not use around my grandmother or my children. If you are listening with kids or aloud at work, I'd recommend waiting until you are alone or putting some headphones on... ps. It's totally worth it.* Glen de la Cour had a 5 year plan. It didn’t involve industrialization or collectivization. Or restructuring of the board or improvements to the training facilities. It was, mostly, document what was happening as Saints aimed to get back to the Premier League.  Five years came and went, Saints got back to the Premier League, we sold players to Liverpool, lost managers, qualified for Europe, and Glen simply kept writing. We fell from Europe, more players left the club, and still, made some shocking moves at the top of the food chain, and still Glen kept writing. It’s been 10 full seasons, over 645 posts, since Glen started League One Minus 10. The play on the field hasn’t always been pretty, but Glen has been giving it to readers straight since the day he starte

  • Ep. 127- Standard Hasenhuttl and the Man from Mali with Dan from PremWorldWide

    18/06/2019 Duración: 01h36s

The Southampton Page is the official partner of the podcast. Jay, who runs the page, is raising money for the Macmillian Cancer Support Center, who played a big role for Jay and his family during the last few months of her life. Jay is Braving the Shave, and you can help him and others make a difference in the lives of those living with and fighting cancer. Click here to donate if you can. This week I’m joined by Dan who runs the @premworldwide on Instagram (you can get him on Twitter @deadlydjenepo) to talk about the announcement of the 2019/2020 fixtures, the arrival of Moussa Djenepo, the recent Sport Bild interview of Ralph Hasenhuttle, LFC’s interest (maybe?) in Alex McCarthy, the possibility of Bertrand and/or Targett leaving, your questions and more. Get in touch with Dan and I and let us know what you think! We’ll be back next week to take a look at what has transpired at and around the club. • Ep. 126- More Views on Saints News with Saints News and Views

    11/06/2019 Duración: 01h10min

***Look at this!!!- If you have a special story about spending time with your father or father figure around football (especially Saints), and would like to share it with me for next week's episode, please do! You can record it right on your phone and email it to me, or we can get on Skype and do it if that's easier for you. It's just way to recognize some of the ways sports have helped some of us come together (or how your dad, uncle or whoever, got you into supporting the only team on the south coast that really matters). Anyway, the email your clips to southamtpondellivery@gmail.com or just get in touch however you think is easiest, there is a contact form on the website that gets my attention as well. Thanks- Matt ***   The Saints News and Views Twitter account can always be counted on to deliver some good conversation. • Ep. 125- Saints. Summer. Signings? With Christian Candler

    04/06/2019 Duración: 57min

*Quick note- I stated in the intro that Maya Yoshida would be playing in the Copa America. That isn't true. Sorry.  This week Christian Candler joins me to bring in the summer. We discuss everything from Charlie Austin in a LFC uniform to the Saints FC players out on international duty this summer. We also talk Women’s World Cup, transfer rumors, Saints pre-season tour and more. It’s a bit more casual than normal, and that’s because I’m away this week grading exams for AP World History. It’s pretty great. Follow Christian Candler and be sure to subscribe to the newsletter to get more of Christian’s writing. 28/05/2019 Duración: 01h24min

We kept it pretty simple this week. I spoke with 4 more guests about the season, the kits, the coming summer and anything else that popped up. • Ep. 123- 2018/2019 Season Review, Patron Edition

    21/05/2019 Duración: 01h28min

It’s a special week this week. Generally at the end of the season I take the chance to speak with fans from around the world about the season and get their thoughts. This year, since we’ve added patreon.com/sfcdellivery to the mix, I thought it would be nice to get to hear from some of the Patrons and get their thoughts.  Don’t worry if you are not a Patron, though. We’re doing it again next week and if you’d like to be on the show, just get in touch and I’ll send you the link to book your time! I’m looking forward to hearing from you! • Ep. 122- Huddersfield. Humbled. Hasenhuttl. With Jay Grant of the Southampton Page

    14/05/2019 Duración: 01h09min

The 2018/2019 Premier League season is over. A 16th place finish, some wins against the top 6, 29 points dropped from winning positions (if my counting is correct), a new coach, a load of players out on loan, 2 executive openings, and a second place trophy for LFC. Was it successful? I’m not sure I’d call it that, but it’s definitely on something to build on. This week I’m joined Jay Grant (@fataljaay), who owns the partner account to the show, @southamptonpage. Because he was at the match on Sunday, and Sunday was also Mother’s Day here in the US, we recorded on Monday morning, shortly after the club announced the new main sponsorship deal with LD Sports (so that’s fun). We also discuss Saints’ 1-1 draw with Huddersfield on the final day of the season, the looming transfer window and more.
