  • Tim Hughes: Healing

    27/10/2024 Duración: 36min

Tim Hughes on James 5: 14-16 Illness is part of living, but illness is also used by the enemy to slow the church down and stop us doing what we should be doing. God helps us in lots of different ways, he gives us the grace to keep going. He also gives us the Bible. It takes a lot of courage to pray for healing for someone who is ill, because a lot of the time nothing happens. Tim looks at how we can see praying for healing as a gift, a gift that can be unwrapped and enjoyed and tried. https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Tim-Hughes-Healing.mp3 The post Tim Hughes: Healing first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

Chris Griffiths: Living a spirit-filled life – The Boomerang Principle Jesus’s burden is light – but how often do we go to Him? Chris looks at a variety of scripture as he looks at how to live a spirit-filled life, by focusing on three points: How Jesus lived  his life on earth What that means for how we live our spiritual lives How that benefits our earthly lives, our church fellowship and our relationship with God. Like boomerangs, we need to keep coming back to God  – just like Jesus did – so he can use us again and again.   https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Chris-Griffiths-Living-a-spirit-filled-life.mp3The post Chris Griffiths: Living a spirit-filled life first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

Andrew asks who the far and the near were in Biblical times and who they are now. • Nate Funkhouser: Identity

    22/09/2024 Duración: 49min

This week at Jubilee we had a guest speaker – Nate Funkhouser from the USA. Nate, who is working for our sister church Jubilee Church Liverpool during his time in the UK, looks at the first chapter of Ruth and what it tells us about identity. It is easy to let the season of life that we are in dictate who we are. But, as Nate illustrates, It makes no sense! Jesus tells us who we are – worthy, redeemed, loved. Nate challenges us to read our Bible, to highlight passages that speak to us about identity, to ask God directly who we are. https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Nate-Funkhouser-Identity.mp3 The post Nate Funkhouser: Identity first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

  • Dave Frodsham: Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath

    15/09/2024 Duración: 44min

Dave Frodsham: Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath Dave looks at Mark 2:23-3:6 – when the Pharisees question Jesus about whether it is right to heal on the Sabbath. Jesus replies by asking them about whether it is lawful on the Sabbath to do good (by healing) or to do harm (by not healing)? Jesus’ message is that Sabbath was made for man to rest – not so that man, by following it to the letter, should gain admittance to heaven. Dave covers three points in the message: Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath Stretch out in faith to Jesus Rest comes by putting Him first https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Dave-Frodsham-Jesus-is-the-Lord-of-the-Sabbath.mp3 The post Dave Frodsham: Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

  • Dave Frodsham: The Bridegroom and the Lord of the Sabbath

    08/09/2024 Duración: 41min

Dave Frodsham: The Bridegroom and the Lord of the Sabbath Mark 2:18-28 In this passage, where the Pharisees question Jesus about fasting, Jesus is revealing himself as God, not just as a miracle worker. He shows that he wasn’t going to toe the religious line. Dave reminds us that we are not saved by acts such as fasting, giving, and keeping the Sabbath – we are saved so that we can do them. The spiritual disciplines are here to make us more like Jesus, not so that God will do things for us. https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Dave-Frodsham-The-Bridegroom-and-the-Lord-of-the-Sabbath.mp3 The post Dave Frodsham: The Bridegroom and the Lord of the Sabbath first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

  • Rick Robertson: Hezekiah

    01/09/2024 Duración: 38min

Rick Robertson: Hezekiah Rick looks at the story of Hezekiah, a king who was devoted to God against all the odds. Hezekiah’s father was Ahaz, who burned his own sons as human sacrifices to pagan gods, and Hezekiah lived in a culture that didn’t share his devotion to God. And yet Hezekiah was a faithful servant, working hard to bring people back to God. He was a reformer, like David before him. He trusted God and held onto him. Rick talks about how we Jesus wants to use us to change the culture around us, just like Hezekiah did. Questions to consider: 1. Where do you see opportunities to reform your life and follow Christ more devotedly? 2. How does the reality that you are part of God’s kingdom affect your decisions and priorities? 3. What can you learn from Hezekiah’s example about clinging onto God in difficulties? 4. How can you help bring God’s kingdom renewal to your community? 2 Kings 18-19. https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Rick-Robertson-Hezekiah.mp3

  • Rick Robertson: Like Father, Like Son

    11/08/2024 Duración: 47min

Rick concludes the Father series by looking at 1 Peter 1:13-25. How can we become more holy as we live for Jesus? Rick looks at how it was impossible for us to approach God because He was so utterly good and holy, we would have burned up in His presence. Rick explains that when God sent Jesus, it meant that we could come into God’s presence again as a people renewed. We need to be rooted in the word of God – everything we do should be based on “What does God think of this?” https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Rick-Robertson-Like-Father-Like-Son.mp3 The post Rick Robertson: Like Father, Like Son first appeared on Jubilee Church Wirral.

  • Sylvia Billington: The Holy Spirit

    04/08/2024 Duración: 28min

Sylvia Billington of Jubilee Church Wirral on the holy spirit. Like the imaginary friend many of us have in childhood, the Holy Spirit is always with us. But unlike that imaginary friend, the Holy Spirit is absolutely real and never leaves us. When God created man, he was given the entire nature and character of God – in God’s image. But then in Genesis 2:7 he brought the body of man to cover his image. The breath he breathed was to make God’s character alive – and this breath was the holy spirit. But then in Genesis 3, he sinned and lost the spirit of God. He started to kill and sinning badly. He lost the Holy Spirit. Sylvia talks about how the Holy Spirit accompanies us through life and enables us to live as the creations God intended us to be – with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. https://jubileechurchwirral.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Sylvia-Billington-The-Holy-Spirit.mp3 The post Sylvia Billingto

Visiting speaker Chris Butterworth on the Kingdom of God. In “Seek first the kingdom”, former Jubilee elder Chris looks at Matthew 6 – essentially Jesus’ manifesto, in the middle of the Sermon on the Mount.
