Gender roles in our culture can make people cringe, largely due to the many abuses of power and lack of understanding of the gospel. What does the Bible say about this, and how can we live in such a way that we are honoring of one another? 

Doesn't it feel like some practices that we read in the bible are way out of date and context? Idolatry? "I'm not making little statues, no big deal." This weekend we are going to explore how idolatry is far more than that and learn together what to do about it.

What would you say to someone who says that you are only a Christian because of your parents or your background? Can you be born into Christianity? Join us this weekend as we look at the idea that your faithfulness is a choice.

Do you get fired up about being part of something bigger than yourself? Does the idea of being used by God to do something great sound inspiring? Join us this weekend as we look at the ministry of Paul and see what the scripture has to say about how we can be a part of more kingdom work.

Is it ok to smoke marijuana, watch R-rated movies, drink alcohol, wear skin-tight clothing, have a tattoo, and have unfiltered access to the internet (all at once-Ha!)? What does the Bible say about these things? The truth is that some of these things are not as ‘black and white’ as we might think. We see right and wrong through various lenses. How should we decide what to do in the ‘gray’ areas of life? Join us this weekend to explore.

At Corinth they struggled with discontent, always looking to improve their status in some way. Paul encourages them to “remain” in the condition they are in. Join us this weekend to explore the dynamics of discontent and how to have an undivided heart towards Jesus. Also, to all 565 of our volunteers, we want to say thank you!

Are you satisfied with your relationship status? Do you feel that life would be more fulfilling if you just had a partner or if your partner were different? Join us this weekend as we turn to 1 Corinthians 7 to see what God has to say about how your relationship status can be fulfilling. 

We are excited about seven people who will be baptized this weekend. Come to hear their story and consider inviting a friend. After that we are planning a message about prayer. As we prepare ourselves for this next season of going to a second site and being a light in an increasingly more turbulent world, we want to be sure that we are a praying church and a praying people. Join us this weekend as we encourage each other around the topic of prayer.

Like today, Greek culture said that the body does not affect the soul, that food and sex are just natural appetites, and if you are hungry, you eat, and if you feel sexual, have sex. The Bible, on the other hand, tells us that culture is deceiving us, driving us to follow our passions, and the results are devastating on our lives and our communities. We find a lot of brokenness around us because of people who just follow the lusts of their flesh. So, what is the answer? Do we deny that we have these lusts? Join us this weekend as we look at God’s design on how to handle our desires.

What role do the people around you play in shaping who you become? What if it was true that you are being shaped and molded right now by your community? Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

We can get comfortable, like the Corinthians in their super-city (settle in, don’t make waves, ride the cultural trends and bide our time). Paul, as a spiritual father gets a little sarcastic to reveal their hidden attitudes. He challenges them to dare to be different. He shows by example what it means to be a disciple-maker instead of deadweight. Join us this weekend to be challenged as a follower of Jesus.

What is the mark of a heart radically changed by Jesus?  “I help people”, “I share all kinds of advice,…”?  Is it found in virtuous behavior? I don’t think so. You can do all the right things filled with fear or pride or the desire to be noticed, or to feel good about yourself.  So, what does it mean to have hearts that are changed at the root by the grace of God?  How would you see that or recognize it?  I believe the answer is found in our text this week.  Hint:  Gospel Humility Join us this weekend to find out more. The church, collectively is the temple of God, God’s dwelling place. Wow! We are it! God has chosen us as a “household” (Eph. 2:21) to be “joined together to rise and become a holy temple”. What is your attitude towards church? How can the church ‘defile’ itself, or become overinflated, or undervalue what it means that we are all in Christ? Join us to process what it means to live like we are God’s temple.

Are you doing work that is going to last? Will there be an impact in 20 years from the things you are doing today? People have a deep desire to feel like their work matters and has a lasting impact. Watch the message for a dive into 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 and the idea of Doing Work That Lasts.

Have you ever changed a diaper? Have you ever changed the diaper of a 5-year-old? What’s the difference? Well, the kid should be further along than the infant. (So, I get a little resentful). In our passage this weekend, Paul brings up the issue of ‘carnal’ Christianity. It’s the idea that people can profess to be Christian, but not really be growing in their faith. Join us this weekend to get a better understanding of immature and mature Christianity, and how to cultivate spiritual maturity in our lives.

Today we further discuss the mysteries of discerning spiritual things - a gift only given by God to those who believe! It's fascinating to know that we have the mind of Christ. But why doesn't it feel that way to us all the time?

Why do you believe what you believe? Is it because it feels right to you? Maybe it's because of perfect reason? Follow along as Pastor Nathan explains why Paul only preached Christ crucified to the church in Corinth, so as to rely only on the power of God and not human ability.
