However you describe the process, the fundamentals are the same: a growing movement of financial advisors putting people first and prioritizing the relationships they build with their clients over time. In a Nutshell: In 2022, I crunched the numbers from Charles Schwab’s 2022 RIA Benchmarking Study and spotted an alarming trend: net organic revenue growth is almost non-existent in our industry. Solving that problem isn’t just a matter of running a better marketing campaign or asking clients for more referrals. It requires an understanding that every facet of your organization is interconnected and must be thoughtfully designed to support and reinforce your ultimate aim. Amit Dogra and I discuss: Six specific areas that leaders need to focus on to build a highly functional, growth-minded firm. The relationship between total client experience and organic growth. Using your Why Story to enhance your culture and deepen your connection to employees and clients. The question tru Independence is asking itself as i

    21/02/2023 Duración: 47min

Guest: Ainslie Simmonds, President of Pershing X. In a Nutshell: For decades, technology has promised productivity boosts that would shorten work weeks and increase leisure time. But despite all the computing power at the heart of a modern financial services tech stack, I don't think the typical advisor is working any less than he or she was 10 years ago. Perhaps more importantly, I don't think tech has freed the typical advisor to focus more of their time on building client relationships and delivering human advice. Instead, what tech has done is enabled financial advisors to do more analysis and deliver more data and "what ifs" to clients while also facilitating the increase in communication. The fact remains that no technology enables two humans to increase the speed at which they’re having an in-depth conversation. And ultimately, it's the human to human conversation that generates the true value in a financial advisor-client relationship. Technology is a means to an end and Ainslie Simmonds and her team

  • My 3 Words for 2023

    01/01/2023 Duración: 21min

For the eighth time, I begin the New Year with 3 carefully chosen words meant to remind, motivate, and guide me on my road to making the New Year my best year yet. It’s called the My 3 Words exercise. My 3 words are printed at the top of my Daily Outcomes sheet (my prioritized to-do list) so I see them multiple times a day. By being thoughtful when I identify my 3 words and then reviewing them on a daily basis, I have a daily reminder of my key focus for the year. These words help me stay on track and on plan. Last year, I decided to mix it up and instead of doing the My 3 Words exercise, I did a “filters” exercise—more on that in a moment. For 2023, I’m keeping the same filters from 2022 and bringing back the My 3 Words exercise. In today’s podcast, I reveal my 3 words for 2023 and discuss how well I executed on the filters exercise from 2022.

    14/12/2022 Duración: 01h17min

There's no one predefined path that will lead us through the challenges and heartbreaks that we all face in life. Often times the best that we can do is learn to accept and explore our emotions while remaining open to the opportunities in front of us. That willingness to explore and grow can help us heal, and help us redefine who we are going forward. In today's adventure episode, I talk to Jess Bost, VP – Brand Partnerships at Alpha Architect, a research-intensive asset management firm. Jess is also the host of The Breakthrough Factor podcast, a CrossFit coach, and an Olympic weightlifter. Jess was in a "dark night of the soul" place due to personal trauma and she shares with me, in raw, real terms, her journey of personal and professional self-discovery that brought her to a place of strength where she now coaches others who want to make major life changes and plan for a successful future. As I said to her during the show, what she shares is "a gift" to those who listen. Don't miss it.

  • Mountain Climbing Adventures with Skip Schweiss and Scott MacKillop

    14/11/2022 Duración: 01h18min

You don’t reach the summit of 14,000 foot mountains more than 150 times without learning a few things along the way about life, health, and adventure. In today’s adventure episode, I talk to financial pros Skip Schweiss and Scott MacKillop. Between them, they’ve climbed mountains all over the world and lived a life of adventure while building thriving careers as executives in financial services. I’ve had the pleasure of joining them on several trips and can attest to their skill and wisdom, but more importantly, to their sense of team and community. They’ll be the first people on the mountain to help someone in distress and they pack “extras” just in case someone besides themselves needs help (and I know because I was on the receiving end of their help!).
