In the first episode in two months where there's not a guest Ant and Tom cover quite a bit of ground including thoughts on the first few episodes of Jessica Jones Season 3 as well as the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe including casting news for Black Widow, Spider-Man Far From Home and the history of early superhero movies. Internet entitlement comes up as Rooster Teeth announced they wouldn't be having a UK RTX this year due to losses. Also, the possible fight between Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise looks to be gaining traction... with everyone except Tom Cruise. Ant and Tom are back after a few weeks apart with Ant taking part in the Brighton Marathon (totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/marathant) and Tom going on a stag do. In a move away from current affairs, 'cause the world is falling apart, we get into the things that really matter like Game of Thrones - but not the current series as Tom's only at the end of season 3. So no spoilers here. Easter eggs in Rockstar games are discussed and Tom learns how he could have easily shared some of the things he's seen recently in Red Dead Redemption 2. Prince Phillip managed to knock Brexit off the top of the news agenda this week as the 97 year old royal was involved in a pretty scary looking car crash. This lead Ant and Tom to have a bit of a discussion about Brexit, but also about conspiracy theories like does JK Rowling exist? The conversation switches to films they have seen and what's coming up in the cinema including The Favourite, Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse, Mary, Queen of Scots, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Alita Battle Angel. The episode finishes with a traditional Anywhere But Here ending as Tom brings up the launch of a Japanese satellite that's only function is to create artificial meteor showers.This begs the question, why? Happy New Year! It's 2019, and what could be more traditional than to start the new year by looking back over the last five years of the Anywhere But Here podcast? Both of us have come a long way from being two ex-bandmates working jobs we didn't enjoy, yearning to be happier and doing something creative again. Since then the support and friendship we've received from other respective other halves, listeners, other podcasters and creative people we've met and befriended has really helped us to recognise where we could improve and have helped us to achieve. It's also been really inspiring to see where our contempories have got to such as Scott from the Stinking Pause who seems to produce more and more content, and Adam from Attaboy Clarence and Secret Histories of Hollywood podcasts who recently had a show on BBC Radio 4 Extra! After finishing recording they realised that they hadn't covered the basics, such as where Ande's inspiration comes from.
