  • Malakia Logan

    07/03/2018 Duración: 47min

Two years before the disappearance of the Millbrook Twins, and six years before Tiffany Nelson went missing, another African American girl went missing about an hour north - in a small town called Greenwood, South Carolina. Malakia Zali Logan was a regular kid, who spent the evening of May 15th, 1988 playing with friends. Sometime between 8:00 and 8:30 PM, she hopped on her bike and headed home - a distance no greater than 300 yards. Her bike was found overturned by the apartment's office, but she was never seen again. Throughout the investigation, various leads and suspects would come and go. However, for nearly thirty years, the abduction and murder of "Kia" Logan has gone unsolved.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.meUse the link harrys.com/unresolved to sign up at Harry's and earn their free trial shave setIf you are interested in becoming a patron, consider heading to patreon.com/unresolvedpod Music CreditsLee Rosevere - "Morning Mist"Breath Before

  • Tiffany Nelson

    28/02/2018 Duración: 29min

In June of 1994, a nine-year old girl was preparing to live out her summer dreams. Tiffany Elizabeth Nelson, a native of Augusta, Georgia, was a tomboy that loved to ride her bike while wearing frilly dresses. She had suffered the loss of her mother just two years prior, and was living with her aunt, Ora, in her home along Getzen Drive - just a few miles away from where Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook had gone missing four years beforehand. It was the first Monday of summer vacation, when Tiffany rode her bike down to a corner convenience store just a few blocks away. She was last seen at that gas station at approximately 10:00 AM, filling up her bike tires with air. When she went missing, very little was done to find her - or to investigate any of the potential offenders living in the area. Over the next eleven years, Tiffany would just become a footnote for the area: a cautionary tale for neighborhood children. But in 2005, a forester made a discovery roughly twenty miles south, which proved that there was

  • The Millbrook Twins (Part Three: The Now)

    21/02/2018 Duración: 31min

In March of 1990, two teenagers disappeared from Augusta, Georgia. Their names are Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook. Early on, the lead detective - who handled all of Augusta's missing teenager cases - zeroed in on the theory that both girls had run away together. This theory began to look less likely with each passing day, but that didn't stop the case from being closed in 1991 and the investigation shuttered until 2013. In the years since, police and independent investigators have had very little evidence to draw on, basing their understanding of the case on the comments made by that original lead detective. He has placed most of the blame for the case's mishandling on someone - a juvenile probation officer, who knew the family of the twins and volunteered his time. In this episode, I speak to the sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, in the hopes of understanding who this juvenile probation officer was, and why the lead detective has decided to give him the majority of the blame. We also chat the current st

  • The Millbrook Twins (Part Two: The Unknown)

    12/02/2018 Duración: 01h08s

On the approximate date of April 8th, 1991, the family of missing teenagers Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook were met by one of the investigators handling their case. The family was told that because their 17th birthday had come-and-gone, that the girls - wherever they were - could no longer be forced to return home. So the family had to put their faith in a higher power to help their missing relatives return home, because law enforcement had no interest in finding them. Then, just two years after this meeting, one of the police officials contacted NCMEC - the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children - and told them that the girls had been found. Which is it? Were they still missing, or had they been found? This would just be the beginning of a three-decades-in-the-making mystery, which has consumed the time and effort of Shanta Sturgis, the twins' younger sister. To this day, she (and the rest of the twins' family) has received little-to-no help from law enforcement. I speak to her, and the makers o

  • The Millbrook Twins (Part One: The Known)

    12/02/2018 Duración: 34min

In March of 1990, a pair of twins - named Dannette and Jeannette Millbrook - disappeared from their hometown of Augusta, GA. By all indications, they were just a regular couple of teenagers. They came from a large immediate family, but spent most of their time at home: they sang along to songs on the radio, spent most of their free time lounging around in front of the television, and attended church every Sunday. But on one particular Sunday - March 18th, 1990 - the twins walked through the neighborhood, hoping to collect bus fare from their godfather. They visited their godfather, then their cousin, and finally their sister, before stopping by a convenience store to buy some snacks. When they left the store, they were never seen again. I am joined by the younger sister of the twins, Shanta Sturgis, as well as the hosts of the podcast The Fall Line. Part one of three.  Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by Lisa Hogan Follow along with Shanta at her Facebook group, Missing Dannette and Jeanne

  • Jack Robinson

    21/01/2018 Duración: 41min

In August of 1996, newly-retired Jack L. Robinson was prepared to start the next chapter of his life. After spending twenty-five years in the United States Air Force (including a stint in Vietnam) and an additional twenty years as a civil servant working at Moncrief Army Health Clinic in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina, Jack had accomplished more than most. On an uneventful summer day, Jack went down to the Rosewood Boat Landing in his old neighborhood of Olympia. This boat ramp, which not many locals were aware of, was hidden behind the rock quarry. Yet Jack found himself there at approximately 6:00 PM on August 17th. He started talking to a younger man, and the two walked into a nearby clearing. Soon, their argument took a violent turn, and Jack was murdered at the hands of this unknown assailant. In this episode, I go through the story, and try to separate the facts from the theories. I also speak to Jack's only child, Tammy, who has kept the case alive online and in the media.  Written, hosted, a

  • Freeman & Bible

    14/01/2018 Duración: 51min

On December 29th, 1999, a teenager named Lauria Bible was spending the night with her friend, Ashley Freeman. They were celebrating Ashley's 16th birthday, and it was the first time that Lauria had been allowed over to Ashley's home in a year-and-a-half. The reasoning that Lauria hadn't been allowed over was because Ashley's father, Danny Freeman, had a bit of a reputation. He had long been rumored to have a temper, as well as an abusive relationship with his children: Ashley, as well as her older brother, Shane. Shane had been shot and killed by police months beforehand, sending patriarch Danny further into a downward spiral. At around 6:00 AM, on the morning of December 30th, a passing motorist noticed flames emerging from the Freeman's country home. When police arrived, they found a suspicious scene... but the events that would unfold later on cemented this story as one of the most enduring mysteries of the 21st century. Written by Kristen SkinnerHosted, produced, and additional writing by Micheal WhelanLea

  • The Brabant Killers (Part Five: Theories & Suspects II)

    10/12/2017 Duración: 59min

Following the final attack by the Brabant Killers, the police investigation struggled to find any real progress. Suspects like Madani Bouhouche and Robert Beijer came and went, with only tentative ties to extremist groups being found. As the 1980s came to an end, trouble behind-the-scenes spelled trouble for investigators. Prosecutors were sent packing, parliamentary commissions were created and then concluded, and suspects continued to emerge. First came Phillipe de Staercke - a violent thug with a proclivity for violence - who had ties to a well-armed government official, named Jean Bultot. Then came Patrick Haemers, a well-known Belgian criminal who committed suicide in the early 1990s. This episode also details the fledgling investigation as it progressed into the 2000s, and includes some of the more... "outlandish" theories, as well as recent updates that inspire confidence in the survivor's demands for justice.Part five of five.  InfoWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic by T. • The Brabant Killers (Part Four: Theories & Suspects I)

    04/12/2017 Duración: 40min

On November 9th, 1985, the Brabant Killers struck for the last time. This attack - which was the bloodiest yet - resulted in eight people dead, seven others injured, and a criminal investigation that was plagued from the very beginning. The Brabant Killers happened to attack in the middle of a very tumultuous time for Belgium. Terrorist organizations were rising up during that time period, from different sides of the political spectrum. The Westland New Post were right-wing extremists, lead by Paul Latinus and Michel Libert... Latinus would commit suicide mysteriously in the early days of 1984, and Libert would be officially questioned by police for Brabant involvement as recently as 2014. Meanwhile, the left-leaning Communist Combatant Cells - who had bombed various targets through 1984 and 1985 - were led by a man named Pierre Carette, who would find himself behind bars at the same time the Brabant attacks ended. As the investigation proceeded, officials began to suspect police involvement. Soon, after the m

  • The Brabant Killers (Part Three: 1985)

Throughout 1982 and 1983, three criminals terrorized the area of Brussels. Starting off with nothing more than ski masks and a single rifle, the three quickly armed themselves with military-grade equipment and became feared for their brutal robberies. In 1984, the Killers disappeared. The public at-large waited for the investigation to make progress, but before long, the "Mad Killers of Belgium" returned to commit their most heinous attacks yet. Part three of five.  InfoWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic and production by T. NordgrenAdditional editing by Elias at e-Audio ProductionsLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.me Music CreditsPipe Choir - "Monachine" Sponsors- Head to Harrys.com/unresolved to claim your free Harry's shave set- Head to Sudio Sweden's website and use the offer code "UNRESOLVED15" to save 15% on any pair of headphonesBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

  • The Brabant Killers (Part Two: 1983)

    19/11/2017 Duración: 44min

Throughout 1982, Belgian police were concerned over a rash of strange attacks plaguing the Brussels area. All involved criminals matching the same basic descriptions, but lacked any real motive. They seemed to be the actions of a mysterious gang lashing out... but at something or someone without any real purpose. Going into 1983, these attacks would continue. Worse, they would escalate, with the gang becoming more bold and violent throughout the year. Car jackings, robberies, murders - it seemed like there were no ethical concerns for these mysterious criminals, who would continue to act throughout 1983, before disappearing under mysterious circumstances. Part two of five.  InfoWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic and production by T. NordgrenAdditional editing by Elias at e-Audio ProductionsLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.me Sponsors- Head to harrys.com/unresolved to claim your free Harry's trial shave set- Head to Sudio Sweden's website to use offer code "UNRESOLVED15" to save 15%

  • The Brabant Killers (Part One: 1982)

    13/11/2017 Duración: 27min

In 1982, a group of offenders began striking the Brussels area of Belgium. It began with a series of small robberies, but - by the end of the year - had progressed to full-blown murder. Though their criminal career was still in its apparent infancy, the Brabant Killers - also known as the Brabant Gang and the Gang Of Nivelles - would go on to become Belgium's most violent and mysterious criminals. Over thirty years later, their identities and motives are still unknown.Part one of five. Written, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic and production by T. NordgrenAdditional editing by Elias at e-Audio ProductionsLearn more about the podcast at unresolved.me Sponsors- Head to harrys.com/unresolved to claim your free Harry's trial shave set- Head to Sudio Sweden and use offer code "UNRESOLVED15" to save 15% on any pair of headphones Additional music:Dee Yan-Kee - "Andante - Vivace"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.

  • Bible John

    24/09/2017 Duración: 54min

In February of 1968, 25-year old Patricia Docker visited the Barrowland Ballroom on a Thursday evening, leaving her son in the care of her parents. She was estranged from her husband but still legally married, so she didn't tell anyone her apparent destination, for fear of judgment. You see, Thursday nights at the Barrowland Ballroom came with a reputation. Some of the Thursday patrons were adulterers, looking for a night of fun away from the stresses of everyday life. One killer used this reputation to his advantage. In addition to Docker, this killer also claimed the lives of two more women: 32-year old Jemima McDonald in August of 1969, and 29-year old Helen Puttock just two months later in the latter days of October.Despite unique details about the suspect being released to the public, as well as one of the most intricate sketches in Scottish history, the identity of the figure named "Bible John" has remained a mystery for the ages.  Learn more about the podcast at unresolved.me  Written by Robert Cron Ho

  • The Alcasser Girls (Part Five: The Trial)

    20/08/2017 Duración: 43min

By 1997, Miguel Ricart had been a prisoner of the Spanish Civil Guard for over four years. He had been in their custody since January of 1993, awaiting trial for the murder of three teenage girls from Alcasser. Ricart would find an unlikely ally in one of the victim's parents, Fernando Garcia. Garcia wasn't interested in saving Miguel's life; rather, he was concerned that the prosecutor had developed tunnel vision on Miguel, and ignored any other potential leads or clues. In this episode, I focus on everything that happened after the initial police investigation, including the trial of Miguel Ricart, Fernando Garcia's partnership with an esteemed true crime author, and the theories that have cropped up in the decades since.  Learn more about the podcast at unresolved.meWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal WhelanMusic and production by T. Nordgren Additional music provided by: Parvus Decree - "Thoughts About Future"Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/sup

  • The Alcasser Girls (Part Four: The Truth)

    14/08/2017 Duración: 32min

It has now been weeks since the bodies of Toni Gomez Rodriguez, Desiree Hernandez Folch, and Miriam Garcia Iborra were found in the Spanish hills of La Romana. One suspect has been in custody for over a month, while the other has escaped justice... seemingly forever. Miguel Ricart confesses to the rape, torture, and murder of the three teenage victims multiple times, but his confessions always contrast in stark details. More often than not, his confessions line up with what police knew at the time, based off of the autopsies of the victims and their exhaustive investigation. But each subsequent confession painted a muddled picture: one that gives credence to Miguel Ricart's later claims that the confessions were coerced. This episodes explores how those confessions evolved over time - with and without police involvement. Part four of five. Learn more about the podcast at unresolved.meWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal Whelan. Music and production by T. Nordgren.  Additional music credits:Graham Bole - "W

  • The Alcasser Girls (Part Three: The Fugitive)

    06/08/2017 Duración: 35min

On January 27th, 1993, the bodies of Toni Gomez Rodriguez, Desiree Hernandez Folch, and Miriam Garcia Iborra were found. The Spanish teens, from a small town named Alcasser, had gone missing in November of 1992 under mysterious circumstances. Within hours of their discovery, police had a suspect in-mind. Hours after that, they had a full detailed confession, which the suspect - Miguel Ricart - claims was coerced. This confession pointed most of the blame at another man: one of Miguel's friends, a local drug dealer named Antonio Angles, who had recently been convicted for a violent offense and escaped from prison. This episode details the ongoing investigation, as it began to consider a second autopsy and further confessions from Miguel, and goes into the Spanish Civil Guard's hunt for Antonio Angles... who continued to outsmart them at every turn. Part three of five.  Learn more about the podcast at unresolved.meWritten, hosted, and produced by Micheal Whelan Music and production by T. Nordgren  Additional mu
