Anaheim Breweries; Part Two - Beer Harder. After the ghost crew gave Anaheim breweries a good tongue lashing in the Disney beer nugget, they decided to give the city a chance to redeem itself in the ears of beer drinkers everywhere. This whirlwind day of SoCal suds started off at Unsung Brewery, a newcomer to the Anaheim scene with a bitching comic book theme and some throughly tasty brews. Then we move over to Bruery Terreux where they make a good beer, and then ruin it by putting a bunch a random shit it in. And the finale of the day was at Bottle Logic, which drew in Engineer Bob with some Star Wars themed beers and won everyone over with their delicious, delicious offering. All and all, not a bad day for beer. That'll do, Anaheim. That'll do.

Picturesque mansion for sale. Only one previous owner (and current tenant) who put a lot of love (and ghosts) into the property. A great place to raise your family (or zombies). Neighboring murder pit also included! That's right, this week the ladies are bringing us Haunted Mansions! Melissa takes us to the nation's capital and presidential mansion, The White House, paired with Clown Shoes American Monastic Belgium IPA. Then Vanessa takes us to the beer capital of the US and the house the hops built, the Lemp Mansion in St Louis, paired with a tasting of lagers; authentic German Hell lager from ABK and good old 'Merican Budweiser. In honor of Mother's Day we bring you Ghost Moms... now whether that means the ghost of a mom, or a mom with a ghost kids, that's dealers choice, so we got a little bit of everything. Melissa kicks things off with the story of the Christene and young Nick, who learned the hard way that road trips are significantly less fun if you drive off the road and die, paired with Sierra Neveda's Sidecar American pale ale. Then Vanessa takes us back to the 1800's for the Greenbrier ghost and the ultimate tiger mom, paired with Arrogant Bastard ale. Hollywoodland... the town of glitz and glamour and dead celebrities! Ghost Gals Melissa and Vanessa took a haunted hike through the Hollywood Hills (courtesy of Haunted City Ghost Tours) and heard some crazy stories about the ghost of Heath Ledger still wanting to be involved in his young child's life, and Sharon Tate's precognitive dream about her own brutal demise. The hike ended right underneath the iconic Hollywood sign, with the story of poor Peg Entwistle who sticks around that area, and apparently smells wonderful. None of the dearly departed joined along on the hike, but it was still a great afternoon with some killer stories. (See what I did there... killer stories... because of Charles Manson... and the killing of Sharon Tate... LAUGH, damn you!)

Te gustan los fantasmas? Nosotros también! This week, in honor of Cinco de Mayo, we're doing Los Fantamas Mexicano. (Side note - isn't fantamas an EXCELLENT word?! Go on... say it. It's fun to say.) Vanessa gives us a firsthand account of the Forbidden City and how it's soaked in concubine and eunuch blood, paired with China's finest, Tsingtao. Then Melissa takes us further south to the Wukang Mansion and the ghost of Mao's mistress, paired with Fuck Art - This is Architecture, a Belgish beer from Denmark. This week the gals tell us about two theaters and their ghostly patrons, right here in the good ol' U S of A. We've got one theater with the moving pictures and one with the live actors, so there's something for everyone! Melissa starts things off with the murder-for-hire plot at the Silent Movie theater in Los Angeles, paired with Uinta Brewing's Cahoots saison. Then Vanessa moves us to DC with the murder-for-racism plot at Ford's Theater, paired with The Great Divide Brewing Company's 21st Anniversary American sour. Who will win in the battle of dead boyfriend ghost vs dead president ghost? Listen and find out?

Disney drunk is the best kind of drunk! In this Beer Nugget the BnB crew visits Mickey and his friends at Disney's California Adventure for their Food & Wine Festival, which features several local beers from all over California. There's a NorCal vs SoCal beer showdown and we pick a winner, because this is Boos and Brews and we like to make everything into a competition. And then we sample some local Anaheim offerings, which may or may not taste like gasoline and have caused Engineer Bob to grimace like Grumpy. Also, why is there not a Drunky the dwarf? Or maybe Sleepy was always a little day-drunk and trying to nap? These are the questions we ponder while eating cotton candy and sipping down some California suds in the house of the mouse.

13 may be considered an unlucky number in most of the world, but here at Boos and Brews, it's our favorite! We decided to take episode #13 and make it into an anniversary episode, where we celebrate the podcast for making it through 13 weeks of offensive accents, beer burps, Lil'John impersonations, geography nerds, yelling at Engineer Bob, and #feminism. The BnB gang goes back to the haunted location that started it all... the Colorado Street Suicide Bridge, where they had their own ghostly experience with a giggling little boy. And then they head over to Stone's nearby Company Store Pasadena where they have ALL the IPA's (well, Vanessa and Engineer Bob have them all and Melissa takes one sip and makes a face). Vanessa gets things rolling with the tale of Ghostwatch, a War of the Worlds-ish TV show from the BBC which is AMAZING, paired with Britain's own Old Speckled Hen. Then Melissa brings things back stateside with the story of the mesmerizing Fox Sisters and their floor-knockin', toe-snappin' shenanigans, paired with a hoax beer, O'Doul's, which is decidedly NOT AMAZING. Who is better at lying to their people, the Brits or the Yanks? Or does Melissa win for lying to her co-stars and making them drink piss and cheerios? Listen and find out!

In this Beer Nugget Vanessa fills in Melissa and Engineer Bob on her recent trip to the Valley of the Sun and the 6 local breweries she visited... for research purposes only... totally not to drink all the beers on vacation and call it work. She breaks down the offerings from Uncle Bear's Brewery, Helio Basin Brewing Co, Wren House Brewing Co, Helton Brewing Co, Mother Brunch, and Sun Up. She also brings in samples from other AZ breweries, SanTan and Four Peaks. Arizona beer is quite different from SoCal beer, and boy does the BnB team have some thoughts on the flavor profiles.
