Some say the answers can be found in education: prove to people that crime doesn’t pay, that illicit sex is psychologically harmful, and that excessive drinking is injurious to the body and brain. Programs of social and personal reform are launched continually, and while some are helped, it does not rid the world of evil. Others say that science is the answer, boasting of creating a clean bomb, a harmless cigarette; remedies to cure drug addicts. Science says it can tap the brain and alter human desires. But the Bible tells us a different story. It says we are possessed of a sinful, fallen nature which wars against us. Evil disguises itself as good. Evil is present to control and deceive us. This morning on the House of Hope I want to share a bit with you on building a Christian Foundation. One of the reasons I love my hometwon of Windom, Minnesota is that is where my Christian foundation was built. I have people tell me that, "You sure love your hometown!' Yes I sure do! I am forever grateful for growing up in Windom! One of the main reasons I preach is because I want every child to have the growing up that I had!

This week Angel Murchison introduces us to Author, Janet Grillo on Destiny Moments. Janet, an amazing woman Angel met at a writers conference (Author 101) in Orlando, Florida. It was one of those destiny moments she tells us about that God orchestrates for us every day. Meet Janet Grillo, a woman of destiny. Janet's husband died tragically on December 13, 2001. It wasn't clear whether his death was a suicide, assisted suicide, suggested suicide, or murder. After his death, she was shocked to learn he was part of an organized crime ring when a close friend of her husband told her he had been involved with the Mafia. Janet wrote this book to help others understand that healing after a tragic loss does not happen overnight. When a sudden loss occurs, we are devastated beyond our wildest imagination. I was so very blessed to grow up in a Christian family in Windom, Minnesota. It was there that i started my journey with the Lord. So many children do not grow up with both parents in the house or a loving grandparents or aunt and uncles are raising them. One of my deepest passions as a Pastor is to show the love of Jesus and the love for His children.

Welcome to this weeks edition of the House of Hope! We sometimes wonder where God is during the storms of life, in all the troubles of the world. Where is God? Why doesn’t He stop the evil? The Bible assures us that God will abolish evil when Christ returns. No wonder Scripture tells us that, at that time, “every knee should bow… and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord” (Philippians 2:10-11). Jesus did not tell us when the end of the world as we know it will end. He said we were not to speculate. Jesus said that there would be certain signs to watch for. These “signs of the times” are described throughout Scripture, and taken together we see a striking portrait of the end times. Jesus spoke of the coming of a godless, secular society, and He spoke of the dangers of heresies of those who try to pervert the message of the truth Christ came to deliver. Billy Graham once wrote in his book, World Aflame: “In Christ the middle wall of partition has been broken down. There is no Jew, no Gentile—no black, white, yellow, or red. We could be one great brotherhood in Jesus Christ. However, until we come to recognize Him as the Prince of Peace and receive His love in our hearts, the racial tensions will increase, racial demands will become more militant, and a great deal of blood will be shed. But it is important to consider the needs and thoughts of others, especially in marriage, particularly when things are out of our control. But we must also guard against selfishness. Patience is not simply “teeth-clenched” endurance. It is an attitude of expectation. The Bible says, “Be patient. … See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth…. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (James 5:7-8). The farmer patiently watches his barren ground because he knows there will be results. He has patience in his labors because there will be products of his labor. As we strive to live for the Lord we must exhibit patience knowing that our obedience to Him will result in good fruits that He will accept in eternity.
