Welcome to the House of Hope! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede I want to share with you a very timely quote from Christine Caine...It takes a huge commitment to stay focused these days. There are so many moving parts that need our attention and an ever-changing landscape that must be navigated. I’ve never had to work harder to keep the main thing the main thing. We need the wisdom and guidance of Holy Spirit.

Welcome to the House of Hope, I'm Pastor Dewey Moede Habakkuk had been praying and praying, wondering “Why is Heaven silent? Why doesn’t God hear my prayer?” Then he realized a foundational truth for those who follow God: ln such a day, they just are going to have to live by faith. Put your faith in God, believing that He is King evermore. That’s how you’ll live in this day and age. Faith is what keeps us going in dark days. Faith sees beyond the physical to the spiritual, beyond the present to the future, beyond the temporary to the eternal. Faith does not judge by the appearance of the hour. Don’t lose your faith. If we want better land and life, we have to live by faith. The government cannot make us better; only the Gospel of Jesus Christ can do that.

Welcome to the House of Hope, I'm Pastor Dewey Moede The great preacher Dwight L. Moody spoke often of three kinds of faith in Jesus Christ: struggling faith, which is like a person floundering and fearful in deep water; clinging faith, which is like a someone hanging to the side of a boat; and resting faith, which finds the person safe inside the boat — strong and secure enough to reach out a hand to help someone else. The Bible of course clearly defines faith in God, which says: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). The Bible also teaches that faith will manifest (demonstrate) itself in three ways. It will manifest itself in doctrine (what the Bible actually teaches). It will manifest itself in worship (communion with God). It will manifest itself in morality (righteous behavior and godly living). Faith literally means “to give up, surrender, or commit.” Faith is having complete confidence in God to lead and guide us, just as the person does when he or she climb

Good morning! This is the House of Hope! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede.... It is Pastor Appreciation Month..... Here are a few prayer points for you when praying for your Pastor... Never lose sight of your purpose: Exalt Jesus. Each pastor is in the midst of a sea of distractions, a myriad of decisions, a congregation experiencing a multitude of pains and he/she is hearing from a thousand voices about how to navigate this pandemic. They need prayer to keep focused on Exalting Jesus above all else. Soul Care. Pray for them to press into the Lord instead of leaning away. Pray that they would nurture the essential relationships of their family and ministry. Pray the Ephesians 1:15-19a prayer over them so that they grow in their knowledge of the Lord and His Presence. Leadership Wisdom. They need incredible wisdom to navigate and lead amidst the changing roles of their staff and their own leadership role. They also need to clearly see what ministries stay or go...don’t put anything back in the closet doesn’t need to b

Welcome to the House of Hope, I'm Pastor Dewey Moede........ I have never seen pour country in such a mess....a political mess.... the Bible answers every dilemma known to man. King Solomon in all of his glory was convinced he knew how to find happiness, and because he had vast resources at his command, he pursued happiness most of his life. Wealth, fame, pleasure, power, lavish houses, and a reputation for wisdom — King Solomon achieved it. And yet after gaining everything he had ever wanted, he reluctantly concluded that his life was still empty and without meaning. His search for lasting happiness had failed, and his soul was still empty. Many people live the same pattern throughout life and are in danger of making the same mistake King Solomon made, convinced that the things of this world will bring happiness and peace. He wrote: “Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure…. Then I looked… and indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind” (Ecclesia

Good Morning People of God! This is the House of Hope! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede.... The human heart beats about 100,000 strokes every 24 hours. It contracts about 4,000 times an hour. Our entire blood supply circulates through our hearts every four minutes. No wonder doctors urge us to take care of our hearts! As amazing as it is, when Scripture talks about the heart, it’s not talking about that life- sustaining muscle. It’s talking about our entire inner being. The heart is the seat of our emotions, the seat of decisive action, and the seat of belief (as well as doubt). The heart symbolizes the center of our moral, spiritual, and intellectual life. It is the seat of our conscience and life. And God knows our hearts well. The Almighty God searches our hearts, weighs our hearts by the teaching of Scripture, opens our hearts to His truth, and gives us new hearts when we come to Christ, sensitive to His presence, His leading, and His love.

Windom Minnesota is where our Mom and Dad, Wally and Ruth Moede built our Christian foundation. Mom and and Dad are in heaven now but it is such an awesome blessing that God worked it out that Dave and Denise have Mom and Dad’s home! When I look at the home I think of all of blessings handed down to me, it brings me to tears and drives to me to preach Jesus and share His ways and love with all. Miss you Dave and Denise and all of Windom, the community of Windom is deep in my heart and soul and prayers everyday! Love, Dewey and Sharon. Sister Deb lives in Reading, Minnesota and brother Daryl lives in Rochester, Minnesota. Miss you all! I should add that my grandparents, Dena Moede, Grandpa Moede had passed away before I was born, Grandpa Floyd and Grandma Lena Caraway, the American Lutheran Church, my wonderful Sunday School teachers, the Windom School system, my awesome teachers, and the role models all through out the town helped raise me up! I love how Dave and Denise have taken care of our ‘birth home’! D

in America, the big word is commitment. When you make a commitment, you’re in control, but when you surrender, you’re no longer in control. The word ‘commitment’ didn’t even really come into vogue in the United States until about the 60s. It’s a very popular word today. People are telling God what they’re committed to: memorizing the Bible, tithing, soul-winning. But if a man pulled out a gun and said, ‘Stick ‘em up,’ you’d lift your hands. You wouldn’t start telling him what you’re committed to. You’d say, ‘What do you want me to do?’ You’d surrender.” People like to be in control. We like to make commitments, but the true word is surrender. Jesus is Lord. You don’t say, “Lord, I’m committing myself to build a great church, to more Bible study, more this or that. Instead, “I surrender. I am yours, Lord.” Only when you lift your hands in ultimate surrender will you know the power of God at work in you. You will never, ever be over those things God wants under you until you get under those things God has s

Welcome to the House of Hope, I'm Pastor Dewey Moede... The late Dr. W. Stanley Jones, who served the Lord as a missionary in India, wrote: “In old age… blossom at the end like a night-blooming cereus.” This is a plant from the family of flowering cacti. It brings beauty to the desert when it opens up at nightfall. Some say these plants produce fruit large enough for people to consume. Dr. Jones certainly knew something about blossoming and producing fruit. He made a profound impact on all those around him because of his extraordinary faith and service to others. Later in life his work was acknowledged by Franklin D. Roosevelt and Mahatma Gandhi. In spite of a stroke at age 87 that disabled him and impaired his speech, he addressed a world congress in Jerusalem from his wheelchair shortly before he died. At every age of life, we can produce fruit that replenishes others. No matter the age, no one need miss the change to impact the younger generations by exemplifying reliance on Him and hope in His unchangin

Welcome to the House of Hope for this week! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede. I first want to finish us on the Armor of God.....and then a bit about death and heaven. From the moment we are born, we start to die. Death is the most dramatic experience in life. Stand at the door of a hospital emergency room and watch as personnel wheel in victims from accidents, gun shootings, or heart attacks. How quickly the thought of death comes – like a snap of the finger. We don’t like the thought of dying. Our culture is unable to deal with the orderly process of aging, but if we can understand death and get a proper perspective on it, it will help us to live. You may ask, how can we find that perspective? Through the eyes of the Bible. God’s Word has a lot to say about death.

We see wildfires, a hurricane, riots, earthquakes, diseases...... This morning I want to share with you on the Armor of God...... The belt of truth is the first piece of the “full armor of God” to be listed in Ephesians 6:10–17. The passage begins with the admonition from the apostle Paul to “be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” This is the key to understanding the armor of God. All the pieces of the armor belong to Him and come from Him. Truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, and salvation—all are gifts of God to His people for their defense. All except “the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God” (verse 17) are defensive in nature. All are designed to help us “stand against the schemes of the devil” (verse 11). The belt of truth is the first part of the armor listed because, without truth, we are lost, and the schemes of the devil will surely overpower us.

I want to share a not with you I got from my friend Laurie, the daughter of my first grade teacher in Windom, Avis Fett.... I would like to ask one more thing of her students and others who know her. With all the stuff going on in the world she is isolated and lonely in the nursing home. I know it would brighten her days to get cards and letters from people. Talk about how you know her and who you are. Let her know how she influenced your life. Avis Fett Sogge Memorial Home 705 6th St, Room 413 Windom, Minnesota 56101 But it simply doesn’t follow that God’s only relationship to suffering is to relieve it. He specifically says that all who follow him can expect hardship. But didn’t Jesus hang on a cross so we wouldn’t have to suffer hell? Yes, but not so we wouldn’t have to suffer here on earth. Listen to the Bible on this: “I will show [Paul] how much he must suffer for my name” (Acts 9:16). “It has been granted to you on behalf of Christ…to suffer for him” (Phil. 1:29).

Welcome to this week edition of the House of Hope! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede of FGGAM. God intended for the home to be a family’s foundation, a place of security. The family is the most important institution in the world. It was God’s idea, and He ordained it. It was not the idea of sociologists. Families and homes existed before cities and governments, before written language, nations, temples, churches. God meant for the home to be a place where character and attitudes were formed, integrity born, and values made clear. These are attributes that last a lifetime. People today have grown accustomed to wringing their hands with fear and insecurity, caring more about what happens on Wall Street or in Washington, D.C. We bring our anxieties into the home, adding to the tensions the world brings to life. The prophet Nehemiah recorded, “There is so much rubbish that we are not able to build” (Nehemiah 4:10). We see rubbish everywhere – rubbish on our televisions, on digital devices, in the literature, and in maga

THIS IS PERSONAL! Make no mistake. This is not Republican vs Democrat. This is not Libertian vs Progressive. This is not about color. Make no mistake. This is good verses evil. This is God verses the evil one. AND IT IS PERSONAL. The evil one never attaches countries, nations, states, cities or streets without first attacking the individual. It was that way in Genesis with Eve. That way in Job. That way even with the son of God. The attacks from the evil one are always PERSONAL. The evil one does not get to countries without getting to the individual. He does not get to cities without getting to the individual. He does not get to congregations without first attacking the individual. He does not get to families without first attacking the individual. It has always been against the individual. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN PERSONAL. Ephesians 6:12, “our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and the authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers

Welcome to the House of Hope! I'm Pastor Dewey Moede While it is dangerous for one to deliberately wait until near the end of life to settle things with Jesus Christ, there is always hope that a person comes to that point. None of us knows when we may die; for thousands, sudden death occurs each day. But more important even than the foolishness of delaying salvation is the fact we are losing the joy of being a Christian. One’s salvation, however, is not determined by the time of life at which we repent and accept Christ as our Savior. There have been those who have repented on their deathbeds and have been saved. In the Bible we read the account where one of the thieves crucified at the same time as Jesus turned to Him in repentance. Jesus told the thief that very day he would be with Him in paradise (Luke 23:43). The longer one waits to accept Chris, though, the more difficult it becomes, for the heart of man grows harder with the passing of time. The Bible says, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold
