Faith: Its Opposite, Root & Fruit
12/03/2023 Duración: 35minHow can you be made right with God? How can you be justified, or declared righteous? How can a sinner be made right with the Holy One? In Romans chapter 4, we see that Paul’s answer is: through faith. Faith is at the very heart of Christianity. Faith is how we are saved, how we defeat Satan, how we overcome the world. Christianity is nothing if not about faith. Listen as Pastor Luke Herche helps us to explore the topic of faith through three questions: What is the opposite of faith? What are the benefits of faith? These All Died in Faith
12/02/2023 Duración: 31minNot everyone deals with death in the same way. For some this is a hypothetical question, for others a present reality. Some choose not to think of it, others do everything they can to prepare. We tend to run to extremes: shall we ignore death and focus on the present or ignore the present and focus on what comes next? Of course the answer is neither, but it is also not simply “both/and.” Instead, the way we express our hope in the face of death is by investing in this present life. In this sermon on Genesis 23, Pastor Luke Herche helps us to think rightly about facing death, offering us three ways to respond: mourn over the brokenness of this age, live in the tension of God’s promises, and hope in the face of death by investing in this present life. 05/02/2023 Duración: 31minWhen our faith is tested by trials, how do we stand firm? What does it look like to put God first by obeying him, whatever the cost? What Trials Say
29/01/2023 Duración: 39minHow you respond when the heat is turned up in life demonstrates what has first place in your heart. When God told Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham was tested and his faith was tried. In this first of a two-part sermon on Genesis 22, Pastor Luke Herche sheds light on this difficult passage, showing us Christ, another child of Abraham who was tested, who suffered, who rose, and also calling us to face trials ourselves by putting God first (part 1) and by resting in his promises and his love (part 2). Being in Christ
22/01/2023 Duración: 44minIn Romans chapter 6, the apostle Paul answers a question posed by the church in Rome by essentially asking in return, “Have you forgotten who you are?” The great and glorious truths of this passage are amazing in their implications about our identity. Paul tells the Romans that their being is in Christ. We are “in Christ”––that is our identity––and the truth of this identity is manifest in what we do and how we live. Listen as Brian Aldridge teaches on Romans 6:1–14, focusing on three key points: identity forgotten (1–2), identity rescued (3–10), and identity lived (11–14). How to Live as Aliens
15/01/2023 Duración: 31minThere are a lot of options on the table when it comes to how Christians live in the world. Some Christians look just like the world. Others have created a Christian subculture, living a parallel life, like the world, but a Christian version of it. Some Christians avoid the culture at all costs. Others seek to dominate it. Thankfully Scripture is not silent on how we relate to the world around us. In the second half of Genesis 21, we learn how to live as aliens and sojourners in the world. Listen as Pastor Luke Herche helps us to note where we are (living as aliens), acknowledge the conflict, trust God’s promises, bless the nations, and praise God for his blessings. In this sermon on Genesis 21:1–21, Pastor Luke Herche shows us that God’s promised inheritance is sure; therefore, you have reason to persevere in joy, to persevere in hope, and to persevere in love. Rejoicing in Hope
01/01/2023 Duración: 42minIn the book of Philippians, Paul writes not only as a person who is facing difficulties, but to a church that is struggling. A caring pastor and apostle, seeing his friends struggling with the same struggles he himself had, Paul shares with the Philippians the confidence he has in his future joy--the coming joy that we share--and the rooted hope that he has that he will be delivered. In this sermon on Philippians 1:18–20, Josué Pernillo shows how Paul explains this through three points: God’s means of deliverance, deliverance and shame, and deliverance and glory. The Songs of Christmas: The Song of the Angels
11/12/2022 Duración: 31min2000 years ago, the King of Kings was born in Bethlehem. It was the most important birth in the entirety of mankind. And nobody noticed. There was no fanfare of trumpets, no parades. But in a field nearby where shepherds were watching their sheep, angels appeared with a proclamation and a song: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:14, ESV). In this sermon on Luke 2:13–14, Josué Pernillo shows that through the song of the angels we see the beauty and the good news of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and we see this in two points: “in the highest” and “on earth.” Part of the series “The Songs of Christmas.” From Sunday Worship, December 11, 2022. allsoulspca.org

The Songs of Christmas: Zechariah’s Celebration Song
04/12/2022 Duración: 33minThere is a song for every occasion. Happy songs, sad songs, songs that make you depressed and songs that pick you up, love songs and breakup songs, victory songs, celebration songs, redemption songs, and funeral songs. We all want something to sing about, and when great things happen there is something within us that just can’t not sing. Through the song of Zechariah (Luke 1:67–79), we see that Jesus, as the climax of Israel’s story, brings freedom and joy to those who receive him through repentance and faith. Listen as Pastor Luke Herche preaches on this passage, encouraging us to prepare our hearts, sing of God’s grace, and serve him without fear. A Woman, a Dragon, and the Victory That Begins the War
13/11/2022 Duración: 37minThe Christian life isn’t easy. The process of sanctification is slow, temptation is everywhere, and some days compromise seems like the best option. What difference does Christ make to the Christian in the midst of trials? In this sermon on Revelation 12:1–17, Pastor Luke Herche answers this question with assurances that the war is real, the victory is won, God’s care is certain, and exhorts us to now go fight.
