The city council of Auburn Hills recently voted to leave SMART, the suburban bus system, to create their own, far more limited service. A new report makes the case that it's quality of life and community that helps revive cities, not the lowest taxes or most "business friendly" environment. John Austin is Director of the Michigan Economic Center, Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institute, and former President of the Michigan State Board of Education. Detroit is soon getting the first mile of road that can charge an electric car in the country. But the project and the technology raises a lot of questions. How will this work?
