Today's guest has been gracing our screens for over thirty eight years, making his debut in 1983, as Barker, in the film, The Man Who Wasn't There. Whether it's on the small screen, or the big screen, Ron Canada has been entertaining fans for a LONG time, and doing such a great job at it! Stemming from the mind of Jeff Lemire, which originated in comic book form, this series promised to be full of darkness and vigor!"A boy who is half human and half deer survives in a post-apocalyptic world with other hybrids."There are many differences between the TV series, and comic book, including the biggest, which is the tone of the series. The series on Netflix is much lighter, though it has its moments, than the comic book which was a pretty dark book. Though Jupiter's Legacy had it's slower moments, and maybe could have been shortened by a couple of episodes, it also had it's moments where it was spectacular. It had it's moments, where the visuals were beautiful, and the story was all there between the characters. Unfortunately, we won't be getting a follow up to the first season, as Netflix has already decided that Jupiter's Legacy has been cancelled!One of the character gems from the movie, is joining us today for a special interview episode. If you're like most of us, you haven't gotten the zombie fatigue yet! Maybe you're tired of The Walking Dead, and it's spinoff's, but you're always hungry for another good zombie story? Well, we're here to talk about the latest entry into the genre, and you can decide whether or not you think it's a worthy entrant into the zombie ring!!  Of course, we're talking about the newest film by Zack Snyder, coming out of Netflix, Army of the Dead. Now, there is a bit of a different main spin, coming out of this movie, with the zombies having much more intelligence then they have in some other zombie adaptations. While some other movies have zombies barely opening doors and such, this film takes it a little bit further, and even brings a zombie baby (snyder for the 2nd time). We think that Dave Bautista is probably coming into his own as an actor, and some of the side characters are absolutely hilarious! It's time to step back to the very early 2000's, for our next pop culture classic!! Chosen by Jason, we're going back to a time, in France, where there was a lot of ruffles!! We are of course, speaking about the 2002 movie, The Count of Monte Cristo! The Count of Monte Cristo was originally a novel, written in 1844, by Alexandre Dumas. From that time, it has been remade into movies, at least twenty times, with a rumored adaptation coming from David S. Goyer. Then there's all the TV adaptations, which again, have been made about twenty different times as well.  The 2002 version of the story stars Jim Caviezel, Guy Pearce, and Richard Harris, is produced by Roger Birnbaum, Gary Barber, and Jonathan Glickman and directed by Kevin Reynolds. The plot of the movie, is loosely based on the plot of the novel, with the main storyline, and the prospect of revenge in tact, but playing fast and loose with almost everything else, including the ending. If you're a fan of weird anthology series, that are absolutely stunning to the eye, as you watch, then this episodes topic is definitely for you! The first season of Love, Death + Robots debuted on Netflix with an eighteen episode first season on March 15th, 2019! It was popular enough, that a second season was greenlit, which is the season that we focused on for today's episode! The second season debuted on May 14th, 2021 with eight episodes! The series is a re-imagining of David Fincher, and Tim Miller's animated science fiction film, Heavy Metal! As is with almost all anthology series, none of these episodes have anything to do with each other, and are stand alone. They also are all under twenty minutes, and deal with a variety of different topics and themes. It's interview time, and boy do we have a massive interview, both literally and figuratively! We had the chance to speak with Jax himself, from Mortal Kombat Annihilation! This is the second Jax in the universe, with the first Jax only showing up for a matter of seconds in the original Mortal Kombat, and a reboot of Jax in the most recent Mortal Kombat having a ton of the spotlight put on him.  Red Williams is a mountain of a man, with a giant heart! He was such a nice guy, who has a very deep knowledge of his faith system, and this seems to be his main project at the moment, working in Point Blank Ministries! It's time, to go back in time! The story of this next pop culture classic, seems to be a little bit of a bumpy road! We're going back thirty five years, to 1985!! Now, some say that this IS a sequel, some say that it's an unofficial sequel, but either way, it DOES follow the time after the Wizard of Oz. We are, of course, talking about Return To Oz!  In 1954, Disney buys the rights to the rest of the Oz movies, from Baum, the author. In 1980, it was suggested that another film be made, as Disney would be losing the rights to the film soon thereafter. Because of the rush, the schedule fell behind, and the movie performed poorly once it was released. Return to Oz is the story of Dorothy, after her time in Oz. At this point in time, the Scarecrow is missing, with his kingdom in shambles. The whole populous of Oz has been turned to stone, or has been lost to the desert. Our next subject can be a little heavy at times, and a little slower at times. It has those times where we're really rooting for the good guys, and times where we really think the good guys are pieces of crap! This is the story of a family who has gone through a VERY rough time in their lives, with their business going down in shambles, and the suicide death of their father. We are of course talking about the hit Netflix series, Jupiter's Legacy which spawned from the comic book of the same name!  When we first meet this family, we meet them as tried and true superheroes, who are going after bad guys. But the more and more that you peel back the layers, through the use of the flashbacks, we realize that they WERE once a group of really good people, but the world that they live in, has changed so much, that they aren't really sure if they're on the same side of the change, as they used to be. Here we are the end of our Mortal Kombat triathlon! So far we have taken a deep dive into the old favorites. We spoke about the original 1995, Mortal Kombat, that brought us the most familiar aspects of one of our favorite video games! Then we spoke about the sequel, Annihilation, which was supposed to move us beyond the tournament, into earths mightiest heroes, defending the earth realm, against the forces of Outworld. This was supposed to expand the horizons into more characters that we love, and a more respectful view of the martial arts, but I think overall, it was looked at, as a big step backwards. BUT, here we are, more than twenty five years later, talking about another version of this loveable video game. It was back to the drawing board, with Mortal Kombat, being a reboot, but still keeping us in this awesome world that we love so much! Keeping on brand with our Mortal Kombat theme, it's time to jump two years forward, from the original! There are many people that think this movie was a big step backwards from the original. For me personally, it holds a weird special place in my heart, though I know that it wasn't the greatest movie, or the better sequel. But it introduces many new characters, that we all loved from the video games, and the ones that we had hoped would be in the original! We are of course talking about Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Annihilation introduces us to the emperor, who is the main villain of the story, up until now, Shao Kahn. MORTAL KOMBAT! We are going back to 1995 in order to speak about the very first Mortal Kombat movie that came out!! With the release of the third in the series, the reboot, we decided that now was the time to create and all Mortal Kombat set of sessions!!  Mortal Kombat, of course, stems from the video game series of the same name!! This game has spawned VERY popular titles, with many popular characters such as Liu Kang, Sonya Blade, Johnny Cage, Raiden, and so much more! I mean, wat better thing than God's, humans, and beings with super powers? The first, of three movies, essentially is the story behind the first and second games, picking a little bit from both.
