This episode is a little different, and quirky than we are normally accustomed too. Tim had the idea that we do a documentary episode. But instead of just choosing a documentary to talk about, we decided that ALL three of us would choose a documentary to watch, and then talk about. So, this episode technically has three topics within the one episode! Juan chose to speak about the documentary titled, MLK/FBI. There's a lot of very cool information about what was going on inside the FBI, during Martin Luther King's rise to popularity. There is said to be many more recordings that the FBI took of MLK, that will be released later this decade. Gabe chose to speak about the documentary, Murder Among the Mormons. I'm not quite sure how to describe our next episode, which is also our pop culture classic! We're going back to 1985, in order to talk about a tale that is as old as time. You know, the one about a Hawk, and a Wolf? You don't remember that tale? Well, for this episode, we're talking about the film, Ladyhawke!  Ladyhawke is the tale of two lovers who end up being cursed! Due to this curse, the two lovers now have to suffer as different animals, at exactly opposite times, which means that they NEVER get to spend any time together, as humans! Etienne is cursed to be a wolf during the night, and Isabeau is cursed to be a Hawk during the day time. That, plus a little bit of Matthew Broderick thrown in there, for some good measure, and some "comedic" relief every now and then! So of course, this film is all about the team of good guys, trying to figure out how to vanquish the bad guys, and life the curse all at the same time! There aren't that many (per capita) shows that are created from comic books. Of those, we do our best to try and speak about as many of the as we can, when they hit live. THIS is one of those topics, that we were pretty excited about getting into? Robert Kirkman, obviously super popular because of his Walking Dead comic book, but also because of the role that he has played in the Walking Dead TV show, is also the creator of today's topic! We are, of course, speaking about the series, Invincible. Steven Yeun, of Walking Dead fame, steps into the titular role, in order to play Mark Grayson/Invincible! Have you ever wondered how we, as a society, know as much as we do, about how bodies decompose? How do we know what bodies will do, once they're subject to different conditions? Well, you need to do a little bit more research about a little something that they call, a body farm. A body farm is literally a location that is full of dead bodies, that are decaying, in different conditions! You feel that little bit of creepy, crawling down your spine? Well, we spoke to two gentleman, who took this concept, and turned it into a horror movie! We were able to speak with the creators, of this creepy horror movie, Brandon Keenan & Nick LaMantia! These two gentleman, took an already creepy concept, added a prison, and the horror genre too it, and they had a hit on their hands!! They spoke to us about the process of making the movie, where they got the idea from, and where we might go for what we hope, is the sequel! Not too long ago, we all watched the original Justice League movie, and not too long ago, we all pretty much hated it! We thought that the original movie, had pretty much destroyed any possibility of a deeper DCEU future. If they can't make a team up movie correctly, how well would a connected universe even work?  BUT, NOW we have the Justice League Snyder Cut!! For those who don't know, Zack Snyder was originally set to create the first rendition of this movie. A tragic family death, lead Snyder to walk away from the movie, with Joss Whedon being hired to finish the movie. This ended up being almost completely re-shot, and in a complete different direction than Snyder had intended. For this episode we're talking about the movie that Snyder put together, after fan demand, that was much more what he had originally intended! From when I was a child, I was obsessed with Sam & Al, leaping from life to life, striving to put right what once went wrong, and saddened by the fact that Sam never made it home. Of course, we are talking about the scifi show, Quantum Leap! Quantum Leap is the reason that this show exists at all. Juan started his podcast career, working behind the scenes of The Quantum Leap Podcast, then worked up to editing & being on the show every once in a while, to co-creating this show! We are inching closer and closer to episode 300!! What a crazy milestone that we never thought we were going to get to, six years ago! BUT, here we are, and we are talking about some awesome subjects, as we get closer and closer!! First up, we are officially past the "blip" as it's called in the MCU. This sequel was thirty years in the making, and actually was not even really supposed to be made. The only reason that Eddie Murphy decided to make this sequel is because of the demand for it! So, we're here talking about a movie that took a very long path to get made, and finished the way he liked it. Of course we are talking about the long awaited sequel, Coming 2 America. Coming 2 America tells the story of King Akeem Joffer, years from where we last saw him, getting married to his lovely bride. NOW, Akeem is the king, not just a prince, and we get a look on how the King has changed, since we last saw him. Changed for the worse, unfortunately. Akeem has lost his way, he just found out he has a son, and his oldest daughter is trying to make her father understand that she is more than capable of wearing his crown after he passes. It's pop culture classic time everyone!! We're not going back TOO far for this one, just to 1993! A time, where in the movie, for the most part, it's 2032! Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes are teaming up, or trying to kill each other, in this action movie, Demolition Man! Come on, when was the last time that you watched Demolition Man? It might not be the most up to date movie in the world, and it might not be the most well acted movie, but it is a LOT of fun! Demolition Man tells the story of a cop who was accused of murder, and has to be put in stasis, with the criminal that he arrested! They're both brought back in the year 2032, in order to stop each other, and of course, all hell breaks loose!! When we originally spoke about the show, it only had three episodes that had been released. This was the wrap up episode for us, in which we speak about the whole first season. We don't generally do a -ton- of "family friendly" series, especially on the Disney side of things. BUT, Tim suggested this next topic, as it was something that looked fun, and new, coming from Disney. So, we are of course talking about Raya and the Last Dragon!! Raya and the Last Dragon tells the story of a fractured community of people. This community used to be very involved with each other, until a mystic set of creatures, was trying to take over the whole world! In this land, dragons exist, and are a major part of the world! The dragons end up saving the world from extinction, only to have the tight knit community fractured, and setup their own cities, away from one another. Well, those frenemies are confronted by these mystic creatures once more, and have to come together in order to save the world once more! Are you a fan of the courtroom drama? Shows like Law & Order? Do you hear that familiar DUN DUN in your dreams? If you do, then our latest pop culture classic episode, is definitely for you. This is actually, probably, the movie that may have started it all, as far as the courtroom dramas go. We are of course talking about the film, 12 Angry Men.  12 Angry Men tells the story of twelve jurors, who are overseeing a murder case, involving a young African American kid, who is accused of murdering his father. At the beginning, there is only one juror who is taking the case seriously at all, while the rest of the jurors just want to convict the kid, and get on with their lives. The one juror makes it his mission, to give this kid the most fair trial that he can. This leads us to a two hour discussion about a ton of different subject. Lately Alan has been strecthing his acting chops, in the voice acting realm, but this is a little bit of a departure from that. To finish off our two weeks of our anime content, we are here to bring you the latest anime topic!! We're talking about a Netflix series, titled, The Great Pretender!  Gabe's son Ashton was telling Gabe over and over again, that this was something that we needed to ensure that we spoke about it. The Great Pretender is all about a group of scam artists, that range from everywhere around the world. They're scam artists in the same vein as Robinhood, as they claim to only scam people who are rich, and deserve it. It's a teacher vs student kind of tale, about a seasoned scammer teaching someone who thinks they know it all, but continues to be bested by the teacher. It's pop culture classic time everyone!! For this pop culture classic, we are going back pretty far, but not only in time, but also in concept. As far as the time goes, Akira came out in Japan, in 1988, and in the United States, in 1989. As far as the concept goes, it was one of the very first times, that the United States was exposed to this kind of anime. It was one of the first time's, that something so imaginative, and beautiful, was exposed to a brand new audience. A lot of anime fans, will point to this film, as being one of the main reasons that they fell in love with the genre itself. Now, as a first time watcher, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the storyline itself, but I'm also not sure that this was an important part of what was happening when this movie came out. Akira is the story of a dystopian 2019, when the world is in shambles. Many things are happening, and one of them happens to be, the finding of some kind of celestial being. It's a big concept, that is supported by beautiful animation
