For our first Summer Camp film, Lauren was shocked that Greg had never even heard of her pick Heavy Weights. For this Disney film about fat camp, we discuss the terrible business practices of Camp Hope and its original owners, the secret identity and future career path of Tony Perkis, kids who are stone-cold murderers, and why Greg actually sided with the villain of this film. For Greg’s Historically Inaccurate film, he took Lauren on a return to animation with 1997’s Anastasia. In this children’s movie with extremely dark source material, we discuss the unnecessary dual casting of character voices, absentee wizards, why you probably think this is a Disney film, and we briefly cover the strange tale of the ‘real’ Anastasia. For our Inaccurate History month, Lauren introduced Greg to the movie and theory of Hysteria. As we delve through this 'secret history of the vibrator' filled with half historical truths, we cover the insanely wide scope of Hysteria symptoms, the laughably backwards beliefs of the Victorian Medical community, and Maggie Gyllenhaal once again flexes her social activist muscles in this film.

For Greg’s Mockumentary, he chose the cult classic, recently turned tv show What We Do in the Shadows. In this sleeper hit ‘Whose Who’ of New Zealand comedic actors, we examine the vampires' failure to adapt to societal fashions and technologies, we dissect the numerous and strange rules that come with being a vampire, and discuss why being a Vampire can be the solution to any money troubles. We've got a double feature to kick off our Mockumentary with Christopher Guest's Waiting for Guffman and Best in Show. As we explore these two hilarious improv films, we discuss quirky and hilarious one-scene characters, neurotic dog owners, stereotyped accents and enough back-handed compliments to fill a tennis match.

Greg’s 80’s Month selection returns back to the John Hughes canon with Weird Science. In this teenage boy fantasy flick, we take a deep look the creep factor that is Chet, racist first impressions, the possible presence of another Trickster God, and we ask if this film even needs Gary. It’s our 80th episode and we are celebrating with 80’s month. To kick things off, Lauren has chosen 1988’s Working Girl. In this film about a woman who struggles to be recognized and appreciated in the workplace, we observe how gossip magazines can get you promoted, inappropriate times and reasons to propose to someone, we ask why Hollywood wants to keep certain stars into particular genres and Lauren stuns Greg with a surprising piece of trivia about this film and its legacy. We close out our Oscar Winner month with 1973’s Best Picture, The Sting. As we critique this love letter to the 1930’s, we talk about Brothel Carousels, Unnecessary Assassins, Con-man attendance sheets and we question the validity of the Oscars amongst the modern media.

It’s Oscar season, and for Lauren’s Award-winning film, she chose to share 1967’s Bonnie and Clyde. As we explore the hidden truths behind this legendary film and duo, we try to unpack the sexual tension between the titular characters, how Crime was SO MUCH EASIER back in the 1930s, and observe why it just goes to show that you should always bet on yourself, especially if you’re Warren Beatty.

To close up Kurt Russel Month, Greg shares with Lauren the horrific mystery that is The Thing. As we delve through the series of poor choices these ‘educated men’ make, we discuss how a few female characters could have drastically changed the film, the multiple and conflicting sets of rules the Thing seems to operate by, and Lauren points out a potential real-life parallel with this film that will leave you with Antarctic chills.

We decided to start 2019 off right with Kurt Russel month, for which Lauren has chosen 1993’s Tombstone. In this star-studded Western, we wrangle topics like historical revisionism in the name of plot pacing, Sam Elliot’s Big D. Energy, how Wyatt Earp was essentially the original Chuck Norris and Greg finds his personal ‘Han Shot First’ moment in this film.

For our last episode of 2018, Lauren and Greg look back on the movies they saw in theatres together and talk about their most and least favorites. We also share our favorite films we covered this year and which films we are looking forward to the most in 2019. For his Horror movie, Greg chose to introduce Lauren to the iconic killer doll Chucky in Child’s Play. While watching this movie with obvious puppets vs little people in costumes, we have many opinions about “Chicago’s Finest” and their lack of rules or reason, Chucky’s transformation into Jack Nicholson. Lauren’s Action film is the 2003 remake of The Italian Job. Along with discussing the star-studded cast and comparisons to Ocean’s 11, we also share our arguments for and against the traitorous Steve, Lauren confesses her love for Mini-Coopers and Greg just wants to make a friend in Skinny Pete.
