  • Ep # 097 | Our Blessed Hope

    27/05/2020 Duración: 01h32min

Pandemics, quarantines, layoffs, bankruptcies, divorces, suicides–the news seems to be getting worse every day. In these troubling and encouraging times, where can one turn to find hope? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker discuss how God uses trials and adversity in the lives of His people to reorient them away from the temporal troubles of this world and toward the “Blessed Hope” we have in Jesus Christ. • EP # 096 | Christian Contentment

    06/05/2020 Duración: 01h24min

Adversity has a way of revealing our true selves, especially during times of trial that seem to last for a prolonged period of time. It is during those times that Christians must guard against allowing the sin of discontentment to take root in our hearts. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss what God’s Word has to say about how Christians can be genuinely content in whatever circumstances we find ourselves. • EP # 095 | Pornography in the Church

    15/04/2020 Duración: 01h28min

The statistics tell the story — pornography is a destroyer. It destroys marriages, families, careers, and reputations. In other words, pornography destroys lives. Christians are not immune to this scourge. And yet pornography remains one of the least-addressed issues in the church today. In one of the most crucial episodes ever produced by the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil (“Omaha”) look to Scripture for answers to why pornography is such a problem for so many — including within the church — and how the gospel of Christ can lead to freedom from its unmerciful enslavement. “Because of technical difficulties related to increased Internet usage as a result of COVID-19 stay-at-home orders, you may notice intermittent instances of audio interference. We sincerely apologize.” Resources Related episodes * EP # 060 | Sexual Sin in the Church Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * “Self-Defense Against Sexual Sin” (John MacArthur, Grace to You) * “Guarding Sexual Purity” (J

  • EP # 094 | Do Not Love the World

    30/03/2020 Duración: 01h15min

The coronavirus continues to affect the lives of countless people around the world. But notwithstanding the casualties the COVID-19 pandemic has left in its wake, God is using that adversity to expose some things about the hearts of His people that some may not want to acknowledge or admit. Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) expound on that thesis in this timely and heart-penetrating episode of the Just Thinking podcast, titled “Do Not Love the World.” Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * “Finding Security in a Troubled World” (John MacArthur, Grace to You) * “The Promise of Peace in a Worried World” (John MacArthur, Grace to You) * The Belgic Confession of Faith (All of Grace.org) * “The Mystery of Providence” (John Flavel) * “Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers” Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B. • EP # 093 | A Biblical Theology of the Role of Government

    11/03/2020 Duración: 01h52min

With the U.S. presidential elections only months away, many Christians, particularly young believers, are supporting candidates who endorse a socialist view of government. More specifically, the idea that it is the role of government to promote social equality. But is such a view of government biblical? In this extended episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell Harrison and Virgil “Omaha” Walker take an in-depth look into the Scriptures–and history–to answer that question.   Resources Related episodes * EP # 039 | Christian Socialism * EP # 062 | A Biblical Theology of Socialism * EP # 082 | A Socialist Savior Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * “Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen” (Alpha History) * “The Souls of Poor Folk” (Poor People’s Campaign) Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B. • EP # 092 | Racial Reconciliation?

    19/02/2020 Duración: 01h41min

What is “racial reconciliation”? Is it biblical? Many evangelicals seem to think it is. So much so that “racial reconciliation” has become big business with some Christian ministries and organizations. But what does Scripture have to say about the subject? Listen as Darrell and Omaha look to the Word of God for clarity and answers to those and other questions in this episode of the Just Thinking podcast. • EP # 091 | Woke Worship (Part 2)

    27/01/2020 Duración: 01h15min

A recent article in Christianity Today addressed some challenges pastors are encountering as they work to meet the felt needs of their multiethnic congregations. But should multiethnicity be a focus of the church’s mission? Just how “woke” should a worship service be? Listen as Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) answer these and other questions in “Woke Worship: Part 2.”  Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * More Multiracial Churches Led by Black, Hispanic Pastors (Christianity Today) * The Calling of the Church (John MacArthur) Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B.       In this special edition of the Just Thinking podcast, which was recorded live at the 2020 G3 Conference in Atlanta on Thursday, January 16, 2020, Darrell and Omaha discuss the topic of “Woke Worship” or, what they describe in theological terms as “identity ecclesiology.” The brothers chose the topic of “Woke Worship” in keeping with the overall theme of the conference–Worship. What exactly is “woke worship,” you ask? Just listen in to this special live episode and find out.  Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * N/A Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B. • EP # 089 | Superstitious Christianity

    11/12/2019 Duración: 01h19min

Are you a superstitious Christian? Be honest. Do you know someone who is? In fact, what is a “superstitious Christian” anyway? In this final episode of the Just Thinking podcast for 2019, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss a practice that many people who profess to be Christian engage in every day–superstitions–and why such beliefs are antithetical to what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. • EP # 088 | The Grace of God

    25/11/2019 Duración: 01h28min

As the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approach, the grace of God will be the focus of many pulpits and households around the world. But do we really understand what the grace of God is and means and why it is important that we, as Christians, thank God for His grace? Listen as Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss what the Bible teaches doctrinally about the grace of God and why the church needs to recommit itself to take that doctrine more seriously than it does currently.  Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * N/A Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B. • EP # 087 | Politics and the Black Church

    20/11/2019 Duración: 01h37min

As Christians, to what degree should one’s theology shape or influence his or her view of politics? In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil) discuss that question in light of a comment made recently on social media by Bishop Paul S. Morton. Morton, a black man, urged black Christians who are considering supporting Democrat candidate Pete Buttigieg a biological male who is “married” to a biological male, for president in 2020, to stand on the biblical definition of marriage, and why Morton paid a price for making such a comment. • EP # 086 | Playing God

    04/11/2019 Duración: 01h32min

An almost unfathomable situation is currently unfolding in Texas where Dr. Anne Georgulas, the mother of 7-year old James Younger, a biological male, is engaged in a legal battle with the boy’s father, Jeffrey Younger, over whether Georgulas has the right to subject James to “transition” James to a girl against the wishes of his father. The potential ramifications of this case, regardless of the outcome, are not only legal or sociological but theological. Listen as Darrell and Virgil (Omaha) discuss this situation through the lens of the objective truth of the Word of God. • EP # 084 | When Forgiveness Isn’t Woke Enough

    07/10/2019 Duración: 01h46min

Amber Guyer, a 31-year old white female and former Dallas, Texas police officer, was recently convicted of murder in the shooting death of 26-year old Botham Jean, a black man. Guyer was subsequently sentenced to ten years in prison. During the penalty phase of Guyer’s trial, Botham Jean’s younger brother, Brandt, shocked the courtroom–and the world–by verbally forgiving Guyer and hugging her (to the tears of many in the courtroom.) But for many people, including some who profess to be Christian, Brandt Jean’s offer of forgiveness was not a gesture to be lauded or applauded. Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil Walker) discuss some of the reasons why Jean’s offer of forgiveness wasn’t “woke” enough for some professing Christians. • EP # 083 | Black Athletes and White Colleges

    25/09/2019 Duración: 48min

Is it time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges? According to American Sports Journalist Jemele Hill, the answer to this question is, “YES!”  However, this seems to be another form of tribalist separation that has nothing to do with the best interest of the Black Athlete.  Hill has written on the subject and makes her case.  However, in this episode, Virgil “Omaha” examines that Hill’s case to determine if  there’s any merit to her argument.  Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * N/A Related external media * The Impact of Social Justice on the Gospel by Darrell Harrison (The Christian Worldview) * It’s Time for Black Athletes to Leave White Colleges (Jemele Hill) Support To support the podcast, please click here or copy/paste the following link into your browser - https://justthinking.me/support/ Disclaimer © Darrell B. • EP # 082 | A Socialist Savior

    02/09/2019 Duración: 01h32min

Was Jesus a socialist? Does the Bible support socialism? Some professing evangelical Christians seem to think so. • EP # 081 | Black Nationalism, White Fatherlessness

    21/08/2019 Duración: 58min

In this episode Virgil “Omaha” Walker discusses one of the biggest threats to the so-called “black community” and it is not “White Nationalism.”  Virgil walks through the idea that the internal threat impacting the “black community” is Black Nationalism packaged with all kinds of immoral behavior, seemingly ignored, often overlooked, and at times rewarded on the basis of historic racism in America.  Listen as he unpacks this idea in this episode of Just Thinking. 14/08/2019 Duración: 01h41min

More than thirty souls have entered into eternity as a result of two mass shootings that occurred recently in the cities of El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio. As usual, when such events happen, people react by asking questions and pointing fingers. But how are followers of Christ to respond when incidents like mass shootings happen? Who really is to blame? • EP # 079 | One Church, One Body

    05/08/2019 Duración: 01h36min

Unity within the body of Christ continues to be a much-discussed topic among evangelicals today. But as much as it has been talked about in recent years evangelicals, especially in America, continue to be divided, particularly along ethnic lines. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and “Omaha” (Virgil Walker) argue that such divisions should not exist among believers, as we are all one in Christ.  Resources Related episodes * N/A Related blog articles * A Body of One? • EP # 078 | Black Lives Matter and Abortion

    23/07/2019 Duración: 01h42min

A recent New York Times article is promoting the decades-long narrative that high abortion rates among black women are the direct result of socio-economic conditions that give those women no choice but to abort their unborn children. It is a narrative that is wholeheartedly embraced by many black Christian leaders today as a matter of “social justice.” But is that narrative biblical? Listen as Darrell and Omaha (Virgil) look to the Scriptures to understand how believers are to respond when Black Lives Matter is invoked in the abortion debate.
