Yes, it's been awhile since I've done the Black Belt Theater segment but with so much free time on my hands (and uncovering my vast DVD collection) I'm back at it. Yes, I talk about Jackie Chan...….a lot......but with good reason. This film is the 1994 follow up to his smash hit Drunken Master and the series only gets better with time. In 1994, JC was 40 and in his prime and this film not only highlights his martial arts prowess but it also shows how far he came as a stunt/fight coordinator as well as being able to capture fights on film. It's the home stretch for season 1 of Batwoman and this week.....oh boy oh boy do we learn a lot!! We all thought that Cartwright was the big bad that made Alice who she is today, but this week we learn that there was someone even more sinister lurking about and both Jacob and Kate make a discovery that will forever change the Kane family. As always this is spoiler filled look at the latest Batwoman episode, however I spend equal time on breaking down the plot as well as diving into why I think this show is an excellent vehicle for spotlighting the LGBTQ community, as well as making Kate Kane/Batwoman an icon for said community. HUG ME BRUTHA!! It doesn't matter if it's 2004 and 2020, this show is still very funny and appeals to the whole family. Today I look back on this hit Nickelodeon show that was full of over the top, absurdist comedy, well acted physical comedy and a lot of heart. I'll tell you why this show still holds up today as well as belt out some of my favorite quotes and scenes.
