People think that holding the cash in the bank is risk free when you compare it to investing in assets, such as stocks and shares or property.   Whilst it’s true that a bank deposit carries less risk and volatility, it is far from risk free.    Bank deposits are only insured up to £85,000 in the UK ($250,000 in the US).   Inflation is eating into your cash every month.   The value of your money is going down every year.    Course, it’s sensible to keep 3 to 6 months of cash reserves in the bank, but other than that it makes no sense to keep your money in the bank over the longer term.     In order to receive a good long-term return on your money, it needs to be invested into assets, such as stocks and shares, property and bonds, as well as to a lesser extent, precious-metal commodities, such as gold and silver.   While the investment landscape continues to evolve with the emergence of new opportunities such as cryptocurrencies, the enduring appeal of gold and silver remains undeniable.
