  • Episode 79: The Monster Squad (1987)

    13/10/2020 Duración: 01h23min

You know who to call when you have ghosts. But, who do you call when you have…monsters? You call…Postmortem Paul, and he’ll refer you to a guy who knows another guy who knows a girl who will tell you to go to a bar where you’ll find a guy who will tell you to ask your cousin who will tell you to do a dance while juggling Funko Pop figures and the ghost of Halloween Past will then send you a voice mail from Transylvania just so she can tell you…you call THE MONSTER SQUAD. Directed by Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps), who also co-wrote with Shane Black (The Predator), this week the podcast focuses on the group of kids brave enough to take on the Universal Studio Monsters who weren’t *actually* the Universal Studio Monsters. I’m sure you’re already aware of the Wolfman’s anatomy, but how does that relate to Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite? Tune in to this fine episode of voice modifications and trivia spewage to find out more about this 80’s classic tale and more, on this Shoctober-rific outing from What Lurk

  • Episode 78: Lucio Fulci’s ZOMBIE (1979)

    29/09/2020 Duración: 01h26min

When there is no more room in Hell, the podcast for What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero will NOT review Romero's Dawn of the Dead. At least, not at this time. However, Postmortem Paul does return this week with a review that finds itself somewhat linked to that classic 1978 film (in a way), as we sit down this week to examine the dead bodies of Lucio Fulci's masterpeice, "ZOMBIE", from 1979. Also this week, Paul gives his thoughts on the Shudder release of Glenn Danzig's "VEROTIKA", and the multi-director anthology of "10/31 PART II". In addition, your host gives commentary to the future of the Netflix series "THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE", the idea of Halloween being "canceled", and an announcement regarding the future of a few of the social media accounts linked to the podcast. It's a jam packed show this week, Lurkers. So strap yourselves in for the ride, but we offer our apologies as we are out of stock in "barf bags". You are free to go ah

  • Episode 77: Host (2020)

    01/09/2020 Duración: 01h05min

You know your “host” has to have watched something quite special when it inspires him to “host” an episode, based more on reaction than research. This week, such a film has inspired your “host” to do just that. Coming to you from Studio Zero and the Next Level Network of Podcasts, your “host”…zooms…into a review about the Shudder exclusive film making lots of buzz on the net these days. From Writer/director/producer Rob Savage, someone has entered the chat room in “HOST”, the filmed shot entirely through the internet. Also this week, “Postmortem” Paul briefly talks about his feelings after revisiting the original WRONG TURN, and he gives his two cents on the announcement of the EXORCIST remake. All this and more paranoia on the seventy seventh episode of What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero! AOL keyword: host.

  • Episode 76: HP Lovecraft’s “Re-Animator” (1985)

    11/08/2020 Duración: 01h28min

Is Halloween: Resurrection really as bad as we've been told it is? Did a certain scene in a movie ruin an actor's marriage after the movie was released? Are social media "groups" annoying, or do they serve any geniune purpose? Is this show's host becoming a miserable miser? The answers to these questions (and more) are revealed on this episode of What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero; Episode 76: HP Lovecraft's RE-ANIMATOR from 1985. In a slightly extended episode, your host "Postmortem" Paul opens the show with a few small rants, a bit of genre news, and then injects his views on this flick of re-animation, which was directed by Stuart Gordon and produced by Brian Yuzna. Fun trivia, quirky soundbites and a closing track leading to "another life", all this can be found on this most recent excursion from Studio Zero. If you've come looking for sanity, you've come to the wrong place.

  • Episode 75: Dr. Giggles (1992)

    14/07/2020 Duración: 01h03min

A podcast a day keeps the depravity away…unless you’re listening to this podcast, that is. But with the way things have been operating in these current times, maybe this is just what the doctor should order. The diagnosis may look grim, but Postmortem Paul is hoping a dose of this episode’s laughing matter will cure you of your ailments. What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero welcomes you back to the 75th episode, with the review of the week inspired from the (insane) tale of writer/director Manny Coto’s 1992 medical horror-comedy, DR. GIGGLES. Also this week, a small tribute to the passing of, both, Kelly Preston and Ennio Morricone. Paul also talks a bit about the 11th (and final) season of THE X-FILES, as well as some recent news about upcoming releases from Scream Factory. All this, and more, on this week’s ill-conceived pox-cast episode. Drink lots of liquids, and watch more horror!

It's time to all hail the "new flesh" as we rewind back to 1983 to relive the glory days of David Cronenberg and his cult smash, VIDEODROME! Also this week, a recommendation for a new action based side-scroller video game and some "maniac"-al music as well. So for the next hour, let 'Postmortem' Paul take you on a betamax trip to the depths of Canadian television programming, and enjoy the ride that is VIDEODROME. Is it live, or is it Memorex?

    12/05/2020 Duración: 01h13min

This week on What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero, it's a two for one deal. Not one, but two reviews, and it's all for your Damien! (Okay, not really for Damien, but it sounded funny.) To start the show off this week, Paul sits down and talks about his latest obsession; the new cyberpunk game from ION Lands available now through Steam. The 2020 game known as CLOUDPUNK. • Episode 70: Chopping Mall (1986)

    07/04/2020 Duración: 01h06min

As a result of the first "Choose Your Own Hell" poll on Facebook, this week's episode is brought to you, by you, the fans. In a close vote, CHOPPING MALL won over DR. GIGGLES, so this week Postmortem Paul reviews the 1986 Jim Wynorski classic starring Kelli Maroney, Tony O'Dell and Barbara Crampton. Paul also talks a bit about the upcoming season of "The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs", and the Youtube video of Joe Bob's and Darcy's "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter" live stream chat. And just for kicks, the episode wraps up on a Lurker's Recommendation to "see you in hell". All this, and maybe a bit more, on this week's episode about killer WALL-E's. Have a nice day!

  • Flashback of Fear: The Seven Must Watch Movies of Halloween

    25/02/2020 Duración: 57min

Due to a minor setback, the 68th episode for the podcast is being held off for one week. But that does not mean you will be without an episode. Originally a 2018 Halloween exclusive episode to the (now defunct) What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero website, this week 'PostMortem' Paul has decided to release through the Next Level Network a "flashback episode" from 2016. In its debut release, from The Bats, Bows n' Books Podcast, Paul had unleashed to the world his picks for the "seven must watch movies" one should consume during the Halloween season. Two years later, this episode was "reborn" through the website for Podcast Zero. Since most people of the horror ilk wish there could be a second Halloween in February, what better time to share this with the Next Level community than now. (It's also quite entertaining to hear 'PostMortem' Paul from a younger time, four years ago.) So I hope you enjoy this week's Flashback of Fear episode, and next time we meet, Episod

  • Episode 67: The VelociPastor (2018)

    11/02/2020 Duración: 01h18min

It was two years ago, on a day just like today. Or maybe it wasn't like today, but whatever. Two years ago, Podcast Zero was given birth upon the world wide web. Two years later, your host is reviewing a movie about a pastor who turns into a dinosaur and kills criminals. How great it is to see that the show has set the bar high, wouldn't you say? Oh well. This week, it is Postmortem Paul's pleasure to bring to you a review of prehysterical madness, THE VELOCIPASTOR, from 2018. In addition, Paul also reflects briefly on the first two years of the show and gives a few minutes to his thoughts on the Oscars (whoopdee doo!). Lurker's Recommendation, the reveal of the next episode and some "speak easy" at the end of the show...all this week on, What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero. Keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle or the raptor will bite them off! You have been warned.

  • Episode 66: Final Destination (2000)

    04/02/2020 Duración: 01h10min

This week, What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero returns with a fresh new review of a movie that (surprisingly) didn't see its' release day in the 1980's. Instead, Postmortem Paul goes back only 20 years, to the year 2000, to review a movie that highlights cheating death with characters who, may or may not have, cheated on their math exams. This week the focus is on the teen horror hit from director James Wong, FINAL DESTINATION, starring Devon Sawa and Ali Larter. Also this week, Paul gives his quick thoughts on the Netflix release of THE OCTOBER FACTION and recommends a movie that is "out of this world". And before the review of the week, Paul also expresses a few well wishes to the hosts of fellow network podcast DC Prime Time, as they close up shop after four awesome years of podcasting. It's an hour and ten minutes of ranting and raving about all the above on this week's episode, presented by the Next Level Network and Studio Zero. You have now checked into the insanity ward.

  • Episode 65: Attack of the Super Monters (1982)

    21/01/2020 Duración: 55min

Second episode of the year 2020 and "Postmortem" Paul has officially gone bats. Giant killer bats...with killer red dogs and giant prehistoric annihilators too! So this week, your host takes everyone back to 1982, and a "direct to video" display of moving pictures so insane, it's almost too bad to be true. On today's episode, the movie review of the week is the VHS hidden "gem", ATTACK OF THE SUPER MONSTERS. Yes, it's true. It's that kind of episode this week. So sit back and enjoy the stories of how Emperor Tyrannus controls his minions, and tries to disintegrate the human race! Only the Gemini Force can stop him now! Go G-Force, Go! (Kaiju suits and world domination plans sold separately.)

  • Episode 64: New Year’s Evil (1980)

    14/01/2020 Duración: 01h02min

New calendar year, new episode, NEW YEAR'S EVIL. From 1980. Low budget slasher. That's how we roll...three weeks late. Also for the first blabberfest of this 2020 year, "Postmortem" Paul returns with some commentary on the double failing of two remakes released this holiday season. Ricky Gervais gets the Podcast Zero vote of approval, there's a double Lurker's Recommendation this episode AND a double musical outro as well (listen closely for the spoilery reveal earlier in the show for the second closing track). It's all about double doubles this week for the first episode of 2020, with an added hint of trouble (obviously). This New Year's, you're invited to a killer party...and yes I know, it's three weeks late! Have a cow. But listen to my podcast first! Thanks. Enjoy kiddies. *enter demonic giggle here*

    24/12/2019 Duración: 01h06min

This week sees Paul putting the “postmortem” to rest and presents a more family friendly episode, just in time for Christmas.  It should also be noted, Paul did have a small head cold during the recording of this show, but it wasn’t enough to keep him away.  So, what better way to spend Christmas Eve … Continue reading Episode 63: Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (1951)

  • Episode 62: Don’t Open Till Christmas (1984)

    17/12/2019 Duración: 50min

One time director, and famed B-movie actor Edmund Purdom offered to the world an Xmas-ploitation film so great, hardly anyone is talking about it these days. But that's okay, because this week Postmortem Paul is going to deliver the goods to you, as he dives into the British slasher "gem" about a killer whose had enough of good old Saint Nick. This week's featured shared podcast experience is about DON'T OPEN TILL CHRISTMAS, from 1984. Also this week, a quick recap of Joe Bob's Red Christmas, and a recommendation for another holiday horror flick available now on Shudder. So don't go out tonight, and don't dress as jolly old Pere Noel because What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero is now entering the Santa killing zone. You meet Santa Claus tonight boy, he better run for his life!

  • Episode 61: Ginger Snaps (2000)

    03/12/2019 Duración: 57min

After a month long hiatus, Postmortem Paul is back with a brand spanking new episode!! This week sees our foul-mouthed (but lovable) ghost host reviewing a classic coming of age horror film from the Great White North, directed by John Fawcett, GINGER SNAPS from the year 2000. Along with the review about the Fitzgerald sisters and their run-ins with lycanthropy, Paul also explains some of the minor changes the show will see from this point onward, as well as gushing about the Vinegar Syndrome Blu Ray release of SPOOKIES! Recommendations about albums from Third Realm and Optic Oppression are also included in this week's episode. So get ready to enjoy this week's foray into the world of werewolves and teen agnst, and remember, "they don't call it the curse for nothing".

Please enjoy this entry in the Podcast Zero catalogue, as 1986's TRICK OR TREAT is reviewed. Also, rumors circulating about the 2020 CANDYMAN movie, a mini review about the movie HAUNT, quick thoughts on the first episode of the new streaming series CREEPSHOW, comments about Jackie Earle Haley's 'Freddy Kruger', and a recommendation for the streaming app every horror fan should subscribe to; all here on this 57th episode of What Lurks Behind Podcast Zero. Disclaimer: don't play this episode backwards. It won't resurrect any demon ghosts. It will just give you a really bad headache.
