Habby Hour!

The NHL continues is still suspended as COVID-19 keeps its grip on North America, and around the world. Beth has the night off, leaving Dave and Veronica to speak to Dan Robertson (@DanRTSN) about what they're doing doing during the various levels of lockdown and even manage to talk about some hockey! You'll find some insight about the situation surrounding Romanov, whether Drouin's play at the beginning of the season was an anomaly or not, whether Kovalchuk will return, and so much more! Dan also shares a few stories about Sidney Crosby and his personal takes on a number of things in this week's episode of the Habby Hour! March 23, 2020.

A week ago was a different world, in both sports and our personal lives. The NHL season is suspended as the coronavirus has reached North America. Despite this, the Habby Hour will still be doing episodes, like the one tonight! In a wide ranging episode, the crew speak with Michel Lacroix about the state of the league, the recent news of Molson and the Habs players providing assistance to the part time Bell Centre workers, the passing of Henri Richard, a recap of the weekend the Habby Hour enjoyed in Montreal, and so, so much more! There is a lot to talk about in regards to the Habs this week, with Kotkaniemi's injury in Laval, Tatar's injury while playing against the Islanders, Vejdemo's call up to the big club, and the first shutout to be suffered, yet all of that pales in comparison to the passing of the legendary Henri Richard. We are joined by NHL Historian and Montreal native Dave Stubbs (@Dave_Stubbs) in speaking about Henri and his immense legacy both on and off the ice. March 9, 2020.

The name may be misleading but that's what it felt like! Beth, David, and Veronica all made their way to Montreal to catch two games in Montreal! In this episode the crew talk about their time in Montreal in as much detail as they can manage, even though Dave had little to no memory of getting back to the airbnb one evening.. The trade deadline has come! And gone! And the after a presser from Bergevin it looks like the Habs are staying the course with their current core, making a run for the playoffs, and waiting until the draft and July 1st to reassess where the team is at. Unfortunately, the Habs parted with Kovalchuk (for now) and also with Nate Thompson, both of which will be missed immensely. Matthew Peca and Nick Cousins were also moved, but there was more to it than just that, and we had the great John Lu to talk about it with us! Also... It's our 100th episode! February 24, 2020.

What ELSE were we going to talk about tonight?? Of course, with this episode coming after the game against Dallas, and the exchange heard around Habs fandom, we talk about Gallagher's foray against the refs after the OT loss and the general lack of accountability that officials apparently have in the NHL. Another week of the playoff push in the books as this episode comes after the Arizona game where the time to make history was upon them! We talk about what exactly that means, and a bunch of other stuff. There were call ups! Injuries! February has begun, and so begins the busiest month for the Habs. Every game is important, as has been the case for a while now. This episode highlights the previous three games, and the first back to back of the month during Super Bowl weekend! Some major developments have happened! The new year and decade seem to be terming around! The Habs took the past weekend by the horns and it continued into Monday night as they start a streak in the OTHER direction. They cannot suffer another skid in any way, and the Habs are doing everything they can to remain in the race for the greatest trophy in the land. To talk about how the team is going, and to go deeper into the Ilya Kovalchuk acquisition, the Habby Hour were happy to have Dennis Bernstein on as a guest! He gave us his perspective of the season thus far and (gasp) mentioned some things that the Habby Hour Ladies were NOT fond of! Happy New Year! Unfortunately, it could be happier for les boys as the past couple of weeks have been unkind, putting the team into a questionable position for the playoffs, as anyone can see if they're following David! He believes that the season is lost, while Beth and Veronica keep hope for a turn around. Which is not without merit! Bergevin has been busy trying to alleviate the injuries that keep plaguing the team as a few new players enter the roster. Most notably? 1st overall pick in 2001 and Atlanta Thrasher legend, Ilya Kovalchuk. January 6, 2020.

Everyone here at the Habby Hour wish you had a great holiday! The previous week was marked with a strong win against the WInnipeg Jets on Monday that led to the holiday recess. But, the Habs were back on the ice this past weekend for a back to back in Florida against the Bolts and the Panthers, and!.. Well. What happened? The crew talk about the games, what went on, and also veered a little bit into the World Juniors and the All Star game! December 30, 2019.

The last game before the holiday break was quite a show! The Habby Hour crew talk about the recent tilt against the Jets, and also about the rest of the games from the past week in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Old faces return! New worries surface! Yet when it was all said and done the Habs return home with more than a few treats. For starters, we amend and finally make mention of a monumental shift in the Habs season TWO weeks ago when the winless streak ended! We also finally give due diligence to the captain's night, and share some thoughts on that. However, back to more recent business, the Habs suffered yet another loss against the Red Wings, a team that can be said is not doing all that well this season, insofar that they are the lowest ranked team in the league, and it is the second time this season that the Habs fell to them on home ice. Is it a problem? The crew discuss this and a whole slew of other things in tonight's episode! (like how the habs had a three game winning streak JUST before) December 16, 2019.

After just a few days we are back with another episode to cover some of the news that's circulating around the Habs! David was able to watch the Habs play the Rangers at MSG, and crew go into some of the details of that game. Some roster moves were made once again, including our usual suspect Charles Hudon, and a tip of the hat is given to a couple of the young prospects on an international achievement! December 9, 2019.

Surprise!! The second episode of the week! Recorded right after the game against Colorado, we had a LOT to talk about even without that awful hit on Kotkaniemi. We wish are Sweet Baby Eagle the best! And a speedy recovery! The reason that we recorded on this night is that we had a guest on, and it was none other than Paul Campbell! Paul is the go to guy when it comes to the nuance and technique of minding the net in the NHL, and he had some really interesting things to say about the (now dead) winless streak. We also talked about the durability of babies. December 5, 2019.

A week that will not be remembered fondly by the Habs faithful. What is the team to do now?? And what exactly happened?? The winless streak has extended to eight games, and is now starting to enter historic territory. Ghosts of seasons just in the past are creeping into the mindset of a fanbase that we know can be stirred into a frenzy at the smallest miscue. The Habby Hour crew attempts to dive into what is going on, but also, to highlight the anniversary of a loss that les Canadiens and the city of Montreal will never forget. December 2, 2019.
