The drive behind his reason to do triathlon is because his mom passed away due to health complications. He’s done a full ironman before in Louisville in 2015. He talks highly of his coach Raul Cardenas. He has a few issues that came up on race day that prevented him from finishing. She also talks about the perfect storm from how she had MCL issues before the race to how she went to the first one across the finish line.     On this episode of the Pursuit of the Perfect Race, I’m talking with Jocelyn McCauley. Jocelyn is a professional triathlete that is being coached by the Head Coach and founder of QT2 Systems, Jesse Kropelnicki. Jesse and Jocelyn have been working together for some time now. She had some issues with an airline company prior to the race Wheel Science gave her credit and is now taking charge of the situation with the airline directly for the damage to her wheel prior to Ironman New Zealand. She also talks about some tips that the race officials use when giving out penalties as well as what she puts into each of the bags of her race bags. Then she dives into what nutrition she uses. As a vegan free and dairy free athlete, she uses First 2 Cross nutrition. She also uses Ruby’s Lube along with her Zone 3 wetsuit. Mark talks highly about the support the volunteers give and even how some of the local schools get involved. He talks greatly of the course, the training, and how the finish line there has something special for everyone. His highlights are the volunteers of entire race. The details he gives about the professional athletes down in New Zealand makes it seem like just another athlete that just competes faster. Mark also talks about the Ruby’s Lube, which is a type of chamois cream he uses and then talks about the upgrades from the road bike with aerobars back in the day to what he has now.     Today I took the time to talk with my friend and amazing athlete Morgon Latimore. Morgon has been in the Marine Corps for nearly 20 years and has completed tours overseas to include Afghanistan. Currently he is stationed in North Carolina and is the head coach of Latitude Pure Coaching. In this episode we discuss not only his preparation for the race but also his team of support. This ranges from his loving wife Ludelis to his best friend, mentor, and knowledgeable Coach Tom Fitch, to his nutritionist Chris Holley, to Bri at Ultimate Sports Massage (USMT) and Shawn from Bicycle Gallery in Jacksonville, North Carolina.     In this episode I talk with Rich Reed. Rich has an enormous amount of respect for the distance and is very grateful for the experience that Chuck Kemeny and Jen McVeay put on in Florida. This race is the same race that was discussed in episode number 2 with Jamie Harris. Ultraman consists of a 6.2 mile swim, 263 mile bike ride, and a 52.4 mile run. These distances are broken down over three days with 12 hour cut offs each day. He gives major props to his coach Cody Elder from Endurance Concepts for helping him reach this milestone in his life.

    In this episode, I talk with Ultraman Athlete Jamie Harris. We go into detail on how she pulled off a 6th place finish at Ultraman Florida this year. We discover what type of training she was doing prior to the race, how she felt this year compared to her previous experience at Ultraman Florida last year. She goes into detail of how she made the race director and her coach Chuck Kemeny very proud by her performance. We talk about her nutrition plan that she uses from F2C. Which metrics she uses on the bike and run and the course as well as her teammates from Big Sexy Racing that came out to help support her, and even some of the training days and workouts she went in to.
