The Science of Stuck - Breaking Through Inertia to Find Your Path Forward with Britt Frank
22/07/2022 Duración: 01h13min“We need to know how to drive our brains, and then life works,” says Britt Frank, clinician and trauma specialist, who believes that we must learn how our bodies respond to different stimuli and form emotions. Britt is less concerned with the “why” of things, and more about the “what” and the “how.” She’s not interested in seeking or answering spiritual questions. If we learn how our bodies react to emotions, we can make better choices about our behavior, and life gets easier. Feelings, she says, are body cues, and emotions are the story or meaning we attach to those cues. The goal, she says, is to stop being a reactor and start being a responder. Britt and Deevo share their similar shock and disillusionment about what college turned out to be and the different ways that people, especially introverts, connect with people. Britt says as important as connection is, it can’t come at the cost of health, safety, and integrity. They discuss the merits and limitations of psych meds, and the spiritual contradictions

How Caffeine is Killing You with Stephen Cherniske
15/07/2022 Duración: 01h03min“Caffeine isn’t energy, it’s stress,” says Stephen Cherniske, author of many books including “Caffeine Blues,” who joins Deevo to discuss the many dangers of caffeine consumption. In fact, in nature, caffeine is an active toxic poison that is produced naturally by plants to kill parasites. According to Stephen, half of us can quickly metabolize it, and half of us cannot, hence all of the conflicting and confusing information regarding its benefits. What’s more, men and women metabolize it differently given the differences in sizes of their livers. Perhaps the biggest detriment to our health that caffeine presents is not just that it stimulates stress hormones, but while this is going on, the body cannot produce DHEA, which is a very important healing and repairing hormones. Still, it remains a 460 billion dollar industry because so many people see having their coffee or their soda, as a ritual. They also vastly underestimate how much caffeine they are drinking, and like any substance, Stephen reminds us, dosa

Handling Divorce with Melinda Previtera
08/07/2022 Duración: 01h12min“Instead of focusing on all the negativity surrounding divorce—which, let’s be honest, there is,” says Melinda Previtera of Previtera Law Firm, “I want to change people’s mindsets as to how divorce can be an opportunity for rebirth and growth through self-love.” Part of that self-love is maintaining a sense of independence in a marriage, otherwise people start to desire control and get resentful and keep score. Individuals and couples need to be clear with their goals and their purpose, both short-term and long term, and Melinda helps them do that. Above all, people have to be willing to change. Despite the prevalence of divorce in our culture and the upcoming generations who are foregoing marriage altogether, there is still a great deal of stigma around the subject. People tend to project their own indecisions and insecurities onto divorced people, and value the endurance of a marriage over how much it actually serves those involved, including the children. Once divorced and navigating custody, there are imp

How to NOT Be Run by Your Business with Adam Adams
01/07/2022 Duración: 01h29minAccording to Adam Adams, founder of growyourshow.com, there are currently three main spheres of influence: Social media, in-person meeting, and thought leadership. He’s very quickly proven himself an expert in at least the latter two. Within six months of launching, Adam’s first podcast “Creative Real Estate” ranked in the top one percent, and he’s been honored by MeetUp for being one of its top six organizers out of 225,000. Now, he helps others to achieve success with their podcasts by building promotional campaigns that train the algorithm, particularly in those crucial initial 8 weeks. The key is engagement, and the key to engagement is asking rather than telling, he says. Whenever making announcements to your audience you should be asking for their help, and their opinions through open-ended questions that lead to more questions. On this episode of A Little Impolite, Adam walks Lisa and Deevo through his recommended scenario of best steps for promoting their upcoming photography business retreat, includi

The Missing Link to Re-Engineer Your Health with Katie Green
24/06/2022 Duración: 01h10min“I’d say my best piece of medical advice is to forget everything that you’ve been taught up until this point,” says Katie Green Holistic Healthcare Professional and Neuromuscular Therapist. “Give yourself permission to ditch the dogma, the doctrine. We’re going to start over.” As a competitive runner in college, Katie began experiencing health problems, and noticed that the doctors she saw were interested only in treating her symptoms, rather than getting to the source of her problems, and solving them from the inside out. She attributes this to a profit-driven healthcare industry, one that is inextricably linked to all of the other major industries and government agencies. She treats her own patients by first interviewing them extensively about their lifestyles and backgrounds, before giving them a full body assessment. She is passionately focused on the next generation, whom she believes has the power to change the world. First, she says, we must change their education about nutrition and the way they think

Modern Intimacy with Dr. Kate Balestrieri
17/06/2022 Duración: 57minWhen it comes to relationships and sexuality, says, Dr. Kate Balestrieri, licensed psychologist and certified sex therapist, there’s a lot we can’t control. We have the model our parents set for us and an automated drive to repeat those patterns. We are limited to a certain extent by our genetics and driven by a deep psychological desire to belong. However, we do have control over whether we reject the old narratives and examples we have been taught and can welcome a lot of change into our lives. Deevo and Lisa talk about their own upbringings, and give insight into how those upbringings led them into and out of their first marriages, and how they plan to approach sex and relationships going forward. On this episode of A Little Impolite, they ask Dr. Kate Balestrieri how she encourages the couples in her practice to talk to each other, her opinions on pornography, and her recommendations for talking to your teenagers about sex. Quotes • “Is there such a thing as monogamy?” (6:24-6:26 | Lisa) • “There’s a big

Finding Your Flow State with Gabi Robledo
10/06/2022 Duración: 01h25min“It’s the perfect combination, the meeting point, of the masculine and the feminine, discipline and surrender, of action and creativity,” explains Gabi Robledo of what it means to enter into flow state. “You’re at a meeting space where you feel a sense of transcendence.” She first experienced it when rock climbing with her mother in Switzerland, one of the many places that the family visited when they decided to travel the world living out of an RV. Only in leaving the traditional life behind did she realize how much she was competing in every aspect of life, and placing her worth into external sources. Anyone can achieve their flow state, she insists. Essentially, it’s about getting out of beta wave, which is nearly impossible when we live in a world addicted to stress. Part of getting there is trading a constant and false sense of productivity for rest and creativity. On this episode of A Little Impolite, how to undo a deeply ingrained scarcity mentality, the depth and range of self-limiting beliefs, and th

Psychedelics and Business with Bijou Finney
03/06/2022 Duración: 01h39min"I'm not one of these extremely 'woo woo' people who start speaking and you're like, 'What the hell are you talking about?' I'm making this a little more accessible," says Bijou Finney, who teaches "conscious entrepreneurship" for businesses and business leaders through a plant-based therapy that revolves around psychedelics. As a former brand designer and videographer, she understands the challenges faced by creative professionals, and believes that the key to success in life and business is aligning yourself with your true nature and purpose. Psychedelics, she says, achieve this by clearing out all the blockage caused by past traumas and old emotional wounds. This allows us to get quiet enough to find out what we truly want and who we truly are, without any outside noise. As a result, we can become not only better business people, but more mindful of how our work impacts those around us. On this episode of A Little Impolite, hear Bijou discuss the lingering stigma surrounding psychedelics, the power of sitt

27/05/2022 Duración: 01h08minClaudia Garbutt has, to quote Deevo, "more credentials, degrees, and pedigrees than anyone we've had on the show." A metaphysicist, biologist, microbiologist, and former neurologist, Garbutt now works as a mindset high-performance coach, working at the intersection between physiology and psychology. Since we encounter an increasing number of psychological stressors on a daily basis, Claudia believes we need to learn to combat this stress with daily habits. She helps her clients develop these habits using what she calls her sustainable success framework, which is built on the pillars of reprogramming the mind to eliminate limiting beliefs, nourishing the body with healthy food and exercise, and identifying and resolving past traumas. In this episode, Claudia will discuss how unresolved trauma manifests and presents physically and emotionally, how to recognize the specific manifestations in your own body, and strategies to reduce stress. Understanding the effort it takes to balance a romantic and business relationship, Deevo and Lisa explain how they make both sides of their partnership work. Through mutual respect and recognition of each other’s strengths, couples can make it work in the business and the bedroom. Average Outputs Create Average Results
29/04/2022 Duración: 46min“We have infinite possibilities. And we need to embody all the potential that we have because it's limitless,” explains host Lisa. It’s fair to say that average outputs create average results. Today, hosts Deevo and Lisa explore how our inner engineering affects our lives and why it takes work to achieve our goals. Many people settle for “average,” either out of fear or an inability to see their potential. However, the hosts agree that we should always strive to be the best versions of ourselves and surround ourselves with aspirational influences. Of course, it’s okay to be average, but if you do have the desire for more, don’t be afraid to go out and step outside your comfort zone. Tune into this week’s episode of A Little Impolite Podcast for a straightforward conversation on average effort. Learn more about why people feel limited, how to find the balance between contentment and satisfaction, and how ultimately, we set the standards for our lives.
