What does it mean to fear God and have a perspective that lives by faith? Habakkuk gives us a framework of worship amid struggle and pain. 

Habakkuk's second complaint asks why the Lord does not intervene; and the Lord's response is to wait. Our hope and trust must be rooted in the Sovereign Lord

Beginning the book of Habakkuk, we discuss the history and the purpose behind his complaint compared to our own complaining and grumbling. Many times we have our interests in mind. Habakkuk has God's.

Resurrection Sunday, we celebrate the empty tomb by looking at John 20 and how Jesus meets the disciples in their grief, fear and doubt to give them comfort, strength and truth. We apply this to our own walks as we look at our struggles to see where Jesus meets us. 

Today we look at the importance of a palm tree and why they would be waving those branches for when Jesus entered Jerusalem. When you understand its importance, you can compare the palm tree to a Christian to see how they are similar.

Continuing the description of the battle against Nineveh we see that God is sovereign and that any nation who wishes to create idols and oppress people will be judged. Our response to Him being King, should be humble repentance

Chapter 2 in Nahum describes the destruction of Nineveh to show us that no one is too big to fail. What we rely on in life that is worldly fails to compare to the power of God. And that he will restore his people.

Today we begin a series on some minor prophets by looking at Nahum. Today's focus is the character of God displayed by Nahum to the Assyrians and the those in Judah. 

Today we finish up the series on rest and discuss the importance of perseverance in our life to strive to enter the rest of God. Looking in the book of Hebrews we see a lot of warnings to cause us to pause and examine ourselves as we pursue the goal

Still looking through the gospel of Mark, we see the command of rest that Jesus gives to the disciples after they return from serving. But as so often happens life gets in the way. How can we pursue rest amid a hectic lifestyle?

Look at how Jesus commands the earth, we should look at the commands he gives us in our life when it comes to our walks. Instead of worry and fear, we need to be still in Him.

Today we explore the phrase, "No Rest for the Wicked" in order to understand how peace from God comes ultimately through Jesus and how obedience to his commands gives us rest in this life now. 

Worries and Fears are things that can dominate our minds and focus. As we face these trials and temptations in life we are still called to trust in the Lord and rest in Him instead of harboring fear and worry. David shares ways in which we can trust in the Lord, rather than fretting ourselves over the evil in this world.

Jesus had authoritative teaching concerning the Sabbath and he challenged the Pharisaic rituals to focus more on mercy and compassion. WE continue our look at the meaning of rest as it concerns the Sabbath from a NT perspective. 

Today we break down rest as it is understood with the Sabbath. The focus is more on the OT passages for this week. We need to understand in our Christian contexts what this holy day means for our walks

We begin the new year with a new series on rest. It is an important topic about something that is not capitalized on in our fast-paced culture. We will explore how to understand biblical rest in the coming weeks by looking at various passages. Today we set up the problem and some good instruction from Psalm 23.

Celebrating Christmas today by looking at Luke 2 and what the coming of our Savior, Christ the Lord meant for a world living in under an earthly emperor. As we compare that to the peace brought by God, we can merely fall down in awe and wonder at the power of our God.

For the 4th Sunday of Advent we look at the parallels between God and us, and David and Mephibosheth. We see the kindness that is expressed throughout to focus on the how God has shown kindness to us through his Son Jesus.

For the third week of Advent, we are discussing how God is love and what that means for us as believers in terms of our confidence and our interactions with others. 

Today we look at the book of Malachi to see the justice of God among a corrupt people that lived by their own definitions of fairness and justice. We need to remember the immutable characteristics of God as we celebrate who he is.
