  • The Science of Creating Happiness From the Inside Out with Positive Psychology Practitioner Robert Mack

    10/09/2020 Duración: 01h30min

When I heard Tal Ben Shahar on Arm Chair Expert I was introduced to the concept of positive psychology or - scientific study of what makes life most worth living”  It’s a scientific approach to studying human thoughts, feelings, and behavior, with a focus on strengths instead of weaknesses, building the good in life instead of repairing the bad, and taking the lives of average people up to “great” instead of focusing solely on moving those who are struggling up to “normal”.  What makes life worth living and building our quote unquote good life is going to look different for each of us...and I wanted to explore how we can get there so we can keep moving towards creating our definition of living well.  Many think that happiness, like success, comes from getting what they want. But new evidence from positive psychology suggests that happiness is something else, or at least something more.    Today’s guest reminded me that while external things can make us happy our happiness already exists within...we just have

  • Releasing the limiting beliefs that hold us back + finding comfort within ourselves with Simi Botic

    27/08/2020 Duración: 01h23min

This whole...pandemic thing has really challenged my relationship with myself. Without being able to go out...there was only one place to go and that was in and when it’s quiet, the whispers become loud. I decided to look inward, get quiet, notice, and listen.    As I listened and watched I started noticing...how my mood and anxiety was affected by things -- certain things people say, how well I sleep, the way I choose to spend my day, how much water I am drinking, the food I am eating, how I’m moving my body…   I also saw how hard I can be on myself...nothing ever good enough...my body...my work...this podcast...not a good enough friend, co-worker…..could have done MORE.   It’s so hard to reconcile where these feelings come from...I am SO lucky. I have a job I can work from home, I’m healthy, I have amazing friends and family, I have EVERYTHING I could need and more.    That’s all external and often a lot of it doesn’t matter if you’re not safe within yourself.  If you don’t feel comfort on the inside.   I t

  • This wasn't the plan, lessons I wish I knew 15 years ago

    22/06/2020 Duración: 39min

It's hard to believe I graduated High School 15 years ago. I still feel so much like the person who sat on that stage but in so many ways I feel incredibly different. • Flying solo: learning to be an ally, trying to be part of change + challenge #2

    31/05/2020 Duración: 29min

This week has been hard, painful, and sad. I had a hard time finding the words I want to use to express how I feel, and I still haven't fully formed them. But for me, silence doesn't feel like an option. Often, I feel too afraid to voice my feelings and my opinions out of fear. This episode made me feel uncomfortable and nervous. Change is uncomfortable and not easy. If it was, we wouldn't be where we are right now.  In this episode, I am sharing a few of the resources I started to use to educate myself over the course of the weekend and how I am starting to create change within myself right now. I am learning. One day at a time. Thank you for helping me grow.
