In December 1981, the Union Star got into trouble off the coast of Cornwall. The loss of her engines, coupled with a terrible storm led to the loss of her crew, plus the crew of the RNLI lifeboat, the Solomon Browne. The RNLI do an incredible job. You can donate to them here.
