Ephesians 6:10-17 "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood" - we often mistake the enemy as the person who's disagreeing or complicating our lives. Let's be clear on who the enemy is, and how he is fought (remember he's already been defeated!).

Acts 1-2 We don't need to wonder what the church would have looked like without the coming of the Holy Spirit. We just need to look at the Old Testament nation of Israel - failure, after failure. However, following the obedience of Jesus, and His pouring out the Spirit on "all flesh", the church is endowed with the ability to live in Christ, experience healing, and minister reconciliation to the entire world.

Revelation 21 We’re closing our “A Whole New World” series this Sunday, looking at the promise of “a new heaven and a new earth”, and asking how does this influence and benefit us now?

Our eternal experience of one another will so far exceed our current experience of one another, that there is no room for anything but anticipation.

1 Corinthians 15:1-8 Let's talk about some "good news", shall we? Jesus doesn’t go the cross because he is a victim of fate. He does not go to the cross as an abstract lesson. He does not go to the cross as a mere example (though he is an example). He has a purpose in going to the cross. It is to save people from condemnation that is already hanging over them. - D.A. Matthew 25:31-46 & John 3:16-18 The parable of the Sheep & Goats paints a vivid picture... but who are the hungry, the thirsty, the strangers, those needing clothes, the sick and the imprisoned? And, are we caring for them? (Note, they did not recognize they were serving Jesus in these ministries of mercy!)

Matthew 25:14-30 What is the posture of the watch? Is it not vigilance? Do they not make inquiry into that which seems suspicious? The metaphor of a steward of an estate (treat one another well!), and young women waiting with the bride for her groom (plan ahead, be ready), servants entrusted with gold (invest your resources effectively), begin to colour in some detail for us.

Matthew 24:42-51 | Mark 13:33-37 | Luke 21:34-36 & 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 The second coming of Jesus will be unexpected (Matthew 24:36-42), therefore, the church is to be watchful and vigilant in our preparations.

Matthew 24:29-31 | Mark 13:24-27 | Luke 21:25-27 & 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 5:1-11 Jesus is coming again! This world, as we know it, has an expiry date. But on that glorious, exciting, to-be-anticipated day every genuine worshipper of God will step into the beginnings of a new world.

Matthew 24:15-28; Mark 13:14-15; Luke 21:20-24 and Daniel 9:27 Jesus regularly quotes or alludes to passages in the OT. While He often cleared up misunderstandings, He was also affirming its continued value and authority as God word /revelation from God. Here, we begin to see that biblical prophesy has a way of, multiple fulfillments in history, today and in the future.

Matthew 24:1-14 | Mark 13:1-13 | Luke 21:5-19 Pregnancy is a means to an end. We look forward to the arrival of the anticipated child. What a curious metaphor Jesus used here.

Philippians 4:2-9 …D.A. Carson writes “Never give up the Christian walk”. Perhaps he had Sir Winston Churchill’s immortal words in mind? Paul speaks candidly to very real conflicts within the Philippian church. As we seek to acquire joy, we must hear him, and continue to walk, live and relate to one another in manners that are different from the world.

Philippians 3:13-4:1 ”Join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us.” (3:17). N.T. Wright calls this “one of the most demanding ethical commands anywhere int he bible” (p.132). While it’s addressed to those of us who lead, it’s an upward call to everyone of us.

Philippians 3:1-16 ”Rejoice in the Lord!” (3:1) “Press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (3:12) Between these inspiring statements, the Apostle Paul offers some really valuable warnings and encouragements for our spiritual faithfulness and growth. In a world where goal setting and vision casting has become increasingly difficult, this fundamental resolve remains unchanged.

Philippians 2:19-30 The scripture give us insights into Christian living through servants like Timothy & Epaphroditus. We’ll do a short character study of these two men, and examine the role of team ministry, and consider how God works through diverse people like us.

Philippians 1:27 & 2:14 In the current tense international climate, it is important to remember that as followers of Jesus Christ, how we conduct ourselves matters!
