Financially Alive & Free instructor, Ms. Demetra Jones, shared how she developed the curriculum to help keep our students and community free from debt and develop healthy habits when dealing with money, bills and spending habits.

April 5, 2026 Street Soldiers Radio sent a love letter to Richmond, CA.  We celebrated the life of teacher, artist and muscian Latetia Bobo and had her family join us in the studio to celebrate her life and the light she was able to turn on in her students.  Poet, author and film maker Donte Clark shared his newest short film, Blu Honey and his dedication to his home, North Richmond. 

Street Soldiers Radio learned from immigration attorney Monica Oca-Howell about our rights when dealing with ICE agents at the airport, home and in public. We highlight the impactful work of the Six Triple Eight to close Women’s History Month. The 6888th Centeral Postal Battalion (“Six Triple Eight”) was the only all-Black, all-female unit deployed overseas during WWII, tasked with sorting a massive, three-year backlog of mail for American troops in Europe. Led by Major Charity Adams, they cleared the backlog in 3 months instead of the anticipated 6, operating under the motto “No Mail, Low Morale” www.StayAliveAndFree.org

Mother & daughter team Joanna and Tatiana Hernandez brought together some of the best braiders from the Bay Area to go inside and out of the jails teaching and empowering women with the skills of braiding and personal development.

March 15, 2026 Domestic violence affects many people of any age, race or class. The facts are staggering and we are here to help share the infomation to help prevent violence with relationship counselor Dr. Sabrina Robertson.  For more help, please visit TheHotline.org An average of 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States — more than 12 million women and men over the course of a single year. Nearly 3 in 10 women (29%) and 1 in 10 men (10%) in the US have experienced rape, physical violence, and/or stalking by a partner and reported it having a related impact on their functioning. Intimate partner violence alone affects more than 12 million people every year.

Street Soldiers Radio continued our celebration of Black History Month. Regina Jackson shared her memories with Reverand Jesse Jackson.

We tackled the tough topic of human trafficking with MISSSEY, Redemption House of the Bay Area and Love Never Fails. 

Celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

We aired our first show for 2026 which featured our callers and their own hopes and goals for 2026. Our second hour featured our Kwanzaa celebration which helped bring our community together at Alive & Free headquarters. The classroom is truly a special place and we are happy we could fit so many people into it as we shared our talents and learned about the 7 principles of Kwanzaa and the meaning of The Day of Meditation.

Street Soldiers Radio is excited to celebrate the holidays with our Street Soldiers family. Our callers and students shared what keeps them doing right and what keeps them doing wrong. Street Soldiers Radio spent an evening catching up with our friend and poet Prentice Powell as he shared his journey as a Grammy nominated spoken word artist to his new project Pack Light while embracing all aspects of being a father and husband.

Street Soldiers Radio is thankful for our callers and community. The team shared their holiday plans, favorite dishes and learned what’s on the menu from everyone. We are grateful to be able to have a space where we can have important conversations as we find solutions to issues impacting our community. We might not all be related, but we are all family. 

We honored the elders in our lives who have shared their guidance, love and wisdom with us. We also introduce you to Jyarriah and Malcolm who are our Young Elders in the classroom. With heavy hearts, we dedicate our show to the beloved Coach John Beam.

We were honored to have Oakland’s Mayor Barbara Lee talk about the current issues and solutions of Oakland as she took calls from our audience who voiced their concerns.

Street Soldiers Radio discussed immigration, ICE and learned about our rights with Attorney Monica Oca Howell and Contra Costa Pulse multimedia journalist Denis Bravo Perez.
