Airwayv are proud to present American Song, a groundbreaking play cycle, each play inspired by a great American song. Written by Arthur Yorinks, American Song unfolds in 13 original hour-long audio plays, offering a sweeping narrative of America over the past 120 years. Each play is set in a decade from 1900 to the present and is inspired by the lyrics of a great contemporaneous American song. The plays are intimate, funny, heartbreaking and gripping - as well as triumphant - and they weave compelling original drama with luminous songs and A-list talent to build a stunning patchwork quilt uncovering the soul of America.

    It is 1947 and World War II is over. The battles have been won. But for some, and particularly for one black American soldier, a battle is still raging. Having been discharged with the infamous “blue ticket” (no GI Bill, no benefits) – Samuel Jones is in a fight for his life back in West Virginia.
