All games are slowly becoming one: looters, shooters, and some old booters. The Division 2, Anthem, Ghost Recon, and now this Outriders game that may or may not be like the rest. It's hard to tell! Some of them are getting rewritten from the ground up, some are getting big expansions that add to the thin story, and others are getting cancelled. You'll have to listen to see if you can figure out which is which.

Is there an RPG mechanic that you just do not understand? One that it seems we've "moved on" from, but still see in games? Well we have nothing else to talk about, apart from Byleth and a new Kickstarter, so I guess you'll hear Jeff and J.D. talk about which of those make sense and which are still fun! Also, Ghost Recon DLC (despite the game still being a bit of a mess).

It's officially dulldrum season. Awards are over, release parties have dried up, and now all of the winter animals have gone into their hibernations while they wait for the onslaught of games releasing in the spring. Wait, they all got pushed back? Well, crap. What will Jeff and J.D. talk about? I guess that new Pokemon thing. And that new Konami rumor (not that they have much in the way of substantial news ever). So stick around! It's a short episode!

Remember those Smash Bros character predictions last week? Trash! All trash. Luckily we can live and die and live again in the latest Dark Souls-like sidescroller--or is it at all like Dark Souls? Jeff elaborates while J.D. raves, some more, about Lara Croft's hair. Everything else is cancelled or delayed in the upcoming crater Animal Crossing will leave in our lives.

It's a silly goose game, alright, and an untitled one, at that. Jeff finally sat down to give this the ol' playthrough, while also stepping back in time to the mid 2000s for some old fashioned GTA. J.D., of course, didn't sit down at all, and has more Beat Saber experience up his sleeve than a Jedi. What does it all add up to? An upcoming Smash Bros character reveal, of course!

Sure, you've read other top 5/10/100 lists on other sites, but you know what those sites don't have? Yo bois, J.D. and Jeff. That's right! It's time to round up the games we thought were notable or at least did something interesting this year, because boy, is the news busy not being notable or interesting. Jeff has delved into that mysterious Mansion de Luigi, and has his own echoes, and J.D. got a Christmas present that wraps over the eyes. What could it be?

Last Thursday was one of the biggest events in gaming, which seems to be getting bigger each year: The Game Awards, hosted by the Dorito's Pope himself. Jeff and J.D. tuned in and have OPINIONS, man. There weren't enough Smash Bros characters announced, for one! Plus, a review on that new Star Wars game you've heard about, and some news from the Weegee front.

Dang, that end of the decade is approaching right fast, and Jeff and J.D. are barely prepared for it. Top 10 games? Top 10 disappointments? These and more are ready to be, well, sort of mumbled about. But meanwhile there are two dudes with backpacks running from ghosts, and your boys are ready to give their final (or semi-final) verdicts. Plus: what's with Xbox Scarlet? Where is Ghost Recon Breakpoint? And what happened with that Egyptian-themed game?

Turns out Xbox has their own weird annual conference thing? Don't worry, we forgot, too, but that's okay: that means more weird oddities and fun announcements to talk about. Flight Simulator, a game neither Jeff nor J.D. really cared about before, will be free! Age of Empires is back! And Kingdom Hearts finally makes sense in an Xbox world. In not-quite-news yet hands, there's a new Game Awards coming down the pipe, and a handful of fun games are in the running. What are our opinions? Listen, why don't you.

You probably remember the horrific man-creature that graced our computer screens earlier this year, spinning, blue, and smart-mouthed. Now he's back, and looking, strangely, better--by looking less realistic. But before we can gab about Sonic, Jeff needs to tell you about his experience in Kojima's latest fever dream. Not that you haven't heard anything else. J.D.'s ghosts, meanwhile, are a little less... umbilical-y.

Remember Dexit? That clever pun on Brexit that signalled the deaths of all of your favorite Pokemon? It's real, and leaks are showing just what toll they will take on your spirit. We hope you didn't like any starting Pokemon. While Gamefreak was sneaking into a closet with a knife, J.D. has been sneaking around a giant hotel--and has good things to say. Blizzard has non-apologized, then revealed trailers, and Red Dead is on PC! And kind of flailing.

Okay, so it's been a month. A month that mostly involved crawling through Auroa, on hands and knees, enjoying the wildlife and occasional bug. Yes, Jeff and J.D. are back, to talk about the issues of the day as well as the issues of last month. Did Blizzard okay Hong Kong protestors? Is Red Dead REALLY coming to PC? What's with wrestling games? These and other questions are pondered, and some are answered.

The concept of a "2D Zelda game" has some very particular stipulations, and in this episode Jeff and J.D. examine if the latest Zelda offering, a remake of a Gameboy classic, fulfills or even exhalts those qualities. Then Jeff played a game with a lot of swearing and guns. We get into some Borderlands 3, but the real meat of this episode is obviously that Phil Spencer has been forcing his rivals to quit.

After two weeks, your boys J.D. and Jeff have played a lot of games. Funny how that works, sometimes. But they have things to say! We have Control, we have the Surge, we have Gears of War 5, we even have Prey (2016). "But what about that Nintendo Direct you were excited for last episode?" you ask? Don't worry, Banjo's here, too! And a dude named Terry. No idea what his deal is.

It's crazy that there hasn't been a game named "Control" yet, since it's such a common word. But here we are, one week after launch, one of your hosts having beaten the game and the other still poking into all of the corners of the Oldest House. We've got opinions! So does the internet, after CD Projekt Red's latest Cyberpunk announcement. Then there's an announcement on an unexpected character in Gears, another potential Splinter Cell leak, and, well, something happening later today.

Honestly it's just really fun to find out that there is a history of "problems" with the people behind a video game you love. Which is why Jeff and J.D. kind of avoid talking about it for a while in this episode! Instead we'll focus on the final thoughts about two PS4 classics, the final bits of Borderlands 2 that J.D. has now experienced, and... well, I guess we just have that to talk about. But it's a necessary conversation, we suppose. We just wish it wasn't such a common one...

Sometimes you skip a week and nothing happens; sometimes you skip a week and everything does. Turns out "the E3 of Europe" is a bigger deal than we ever give it credit for, and there's a lot to go over just from the opening night presentation. Then there's Sony's purchase of Insomniac, Gamestop's layoffs (and why they're happening), and, of course, the latest drama surrounding a free game. But before all of that, Jeff and J.D. talk for quite a while about games they both played a year ago.

It was a week of no news other than weird little controversies. That's okay, though, because Jeff and J.D. played a bunch of things! It's like the opposite of last week. Luckily, video games are meant to be played, so we'll be talking about the Wildlands DLC campaigns, the wrap-up of Ratchet and Clank, and some impressions of our favorite web-slinger. Then we'll do our best to break down this latest Epic Games Store deal and why it really, really should not matter.

Most remakes are the same game over again, but some remakes are a bit more. J.D. is discovering just how much cool stuff is in the Ratchet and Clank PS4 remake--now that he's beaten the game. Back on planet Earth, we have a new Smash Bros character who's already been released, and all of the stuff coming with him (or is it them?). Then the Bethesda junk going on, and a really cool announcement about Hitman that has Jeff excited.

In this extra-short episode, there, well, isn't much to talk about, apparently. Jeff finished Bloodstained (although he still has a few things to do), and has some final thoughts therein. J.D. played more Hollow Knight? Aaaaand there are some rumors flying around about Red Dead. That's... about it! Enjoy your time with breathing-in J.D.
