    Let's Talk About Depression... I suffer with DEPRESSION...    There I am saying it out loud.  I am telling the world. It has taken me decades to put this out there.   It has been my constant companion for a lifetime and it is only now I have the courage to share this with the world. Why is DEPRESSION such a TABOO subject?   Why is there is so much STIGMA associated with it?   Why must we keep it hidden like some terrible secret?     The Power of Being Grateful Gratitude is a major key player to your path to Happiness. In the past, I will admit that I was not always grateful.   Living in the 'Negative Mind' meant that I often only complained about all the things that I felt were wrong in my life.   I had this huge belief that the Universe was often against me and continually "bad" things used to happen to me. Since my 'breakdown' almost 10 years ago, and as I started my journey to self-discovery, growth and development, things started to change for the good.   I was shocked to realise how negative I really was and how ungrateful I was, even for all the good things which certainly were happening on my life journey.   Wow - that was an eye-opener!     Random Acts of Kindness KINDNESS is something we are all capable of. How many times has it made your heart sing when a stranger does something KIND for you? I know that in our busy modern society, acts of kindness are becoming noticeable less and less.   I was brought up to give up my seat on the bus or train for someone who needed it more than I did, and to this day I will still do this.   I was taught to hold open a door for someone to allow them to pass through easily, particularly if they are carrying heavy bags or juggling a pram and children.   I will pick up a piece of rubbish/trash and dispose of it in the nearest bin. I personally know that a smile or a thank you, at the right time, truly will make a difference to recipient's day.  How do I know?   Because it really makes me smile and lifts my mood whenever someone has unexpectedly done something kind for me.     The Power of Positive Words I love AFFIRMATIONS. Why? Because using Affirmations, Positive Statements, on a daily basis helps to install positive and uplifting beliefs into our UNCONSCIOUS MIND.   The are short positive and powerful statements. If you have paid attention in previous blogs and podcasts, you have heard that it is the role of the UNCONSCIOUS MIND to look after us and keep us on track to achieve our higher purpose.    It has our best interests at heart and endeavours to help us keep safe and achieve success and happiness.   And as you will have also learned that it listened to what we want....  albeit that it doesn't recognise negative statements.   What that means -  when you say "I don't want to be ill", this is translated by your UNCONSCIOUS MIND to mean "I want to be ill"...   So you really need to learn to be careful what you are saying, even to yourself - as WORDS HAVE POWER!     Your Perception of the World So, how do you see the World.... How good are you at FILTERING? Do you really see the true world around you, or do you apply your FILTER MODE?   In reality, we all apply our own unique FILTER to make sense of the world around us.    Our brain is inundated with massive amounts of information, and although our brain can process it, it tends to filter out the bits it does not feel are relevant to us based on our BELIEFS and VALUES.    We create a world based on this filtered information - so the big question is -DO WE SEE THE TRUE WORLD? Our filtering system is designed to support us to cope with the world and not to become overwhelmed with the sheer amount of information to assimilate and make sense of.   However, depending on our BELIEFS SYSTEM - we can create a skewed view of the REAL WORLD.
