Movies For Breakfast

Today we take a look at two stories based around the premise of super powered beings gone wrong (sort of). To help say goodbye to Fox's X-Men Series we brought on friend of the podcast Leopold Knopp (https://reelentropy.com/), who's long had an affinity for the mutant movies. He also stuck around and helped us talk about James Gunn's evil Superman horror flick, which could be opening up a cinematic universe of its own. 

Do we have to get you pumped for John Wick and Godzilla? Didn't think so, gun shots and monster shrieks!!! (Apologies for Trent's awful audio...) 

Another cinematic universe? Nostalgia Ultra? Pokemon on the big screen? Yes, please! Here's our quick review of Detective Pikachu! 

Wow we are late on this, but hey, it is what it is. Despite this being very past due, Avengers Endgame was too big a film to not post about, so here's our review on the Marvel Cinematic Universe's culmination film. Enjoy!

What? Double-release? That's right, we're dropping our second episode of the day while catching up on the numerous releases from December. In this episode we talked about award darling Vice and the breathtaking animated spectacle Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. But before we get into those, we talk about our top films from 2018.

Over the past few weeks, we discovered a dry spell for movies we could review. So instead of dragging ourselves to the theater to see films we were less than excited for, we decided to revisit some films we didn't cover on the podcast. Luckily for us, two of the biggest hits this summer were on that list, so this week, we decided to finally dig into Avengers: Infinity War and Mission Impossible: Fallout.

Check us out, we're uploading in a timely manner! This week we tackle two very different movies that represent more than their plot points. First, we discuss Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, a film about police officer Ron Stallworth, who goes undercover to topple a chapter of the KKK in Colorado Springs during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1970s. After, we discuss the wildly successful, and cheery, Crazy Rich Asians, which takes a pretty standard romantic comedy story with an almost entire Asian cast, offering a film Hollywood was long overdue for.

Yikes, with a busy schedule that makes editing tough and the general gamble of sending our audio files back in forth, this episode proved tough to produce. Even though it doesn't have the normal news, the MFB crew still came through with a solid movie review of Eighth Grade. Thanks for listening!
