What's the most comforting thing you've heard this year?"Target has toilet paper." "Football is not cancelled.""It's all going to be better eventually."Or maybe it's been none of those? For me, the most comforting thing I've been told is "God is with you."In this episode I'll explain why sitting with this truth, and viewing it from a different perspective, is the best way to prepare your heart to celebrate Christmas.

Hey there! I'm picking up where I left off with the Process of Obedience. I encourage you to go back and listen to part one and part two for context on where we are today!  In today's episode I walk through what I find to be a helpful process in trying to make sure I'm obedient to the Lord when decisions come up! I ask 5 questions that are all listed here on the resource I've provided. Even if you don't have a big decision coming up, my ultimate goal with this episode is to encourage you to dive deeper into your relationship with Christ! 

Psalm 119:116 says "Sustain me according to your word, that I may live; and do not let me be ashamed of my hope." First, I don't think I'll ever get over Psalm 119 having 176 verses. Second, this verse did some really weird things for my heart and mind when I read it. Which is somewhat fitting, giving that our entire reality right now is w-e-i-r-d.The Holy Spirit used this verse to fully reveal to me that maybe, potentially, it might be that it feels cliche to tell people to hope in Jesus during this time because some of my hope has gotten misplaced along the way. Hopefully in between all the memes and entertainment, we can be a little more intentional about realigning our hope. Oh, and Brandon is on this one. And he's super great. :)

Hi, friends! Welcome back - alllll the way back! I am so pumped to start putting out episodes on a consistent basis again because I have a real, legitimate plan and real, legitimate T-I-M-E since we have moved to North Carolina because I’m not teaching anymore. But I don’t want to spoil anything! I’m getting ahead of myself. Back to my plan! I am kicking off the new year with a 4-part series called “The Process of Obedience.” Which I am simultaneously pumped about and like mortified about. Because I feel really strongly about not being a hypocrite. So I can’t talk about obedience and not BE obedient during this time. Actually, that makes it sound like I’m just going to be obedient for a month and then go back to doing my own thing doesn’t it?! May I be obedient now and forever more. Hey there! On today's episode I interview one of my best friends, Brie Beeks! We were in Florida a few weeks ago to see them (her, her husband, Jalen, and their kids) and I just knew we had to do an interview! I hope you enjoy our conversation about staying grounded, friendship, and what God can teach us in the midst of chaos! 

About 6 months in to our marriage, Brandon sat down beside me and said, "I think we should plant a garden." He then proceeded to talk about all the different fruits and veggies that we could grow and how wonderful it would be. He even talked about killing our own meat (he's never hunted a day in his life). I turned to him, gave him a kiss on the forehead, and said, "Babe, we live in a hotel." And I got up and walked away. We really were living in a hotel at that time because we were in Arizona for Spring Training, but we still don't have a garden. And we  don't live in a hotel anymore. Let's just say gardening isn't really my specialty... But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the intricacies of what is required to make things grow. Here it is, the episode we've all been dreading. Oh wait, maybe that was just me. Let me rephrase: the episode I'VE been dreading! See, the thing about talking about something you're bad at is that it's never fun. Because now you have people holding you accountable!But, maybe that's the whole point? Maybe that's the reason God tells us to not just confess our sins to Him, but to confess our sins to one another as well. And I, friends, wish I was perfect. No... I obsessively wish I was perfect. And thus, a slightly less than perfect episode.Grace to you (and to me, honestly!)

"So how's your quiet time been going lately?" This question can evoke a wide range of thoughts and emotions!For some people, it may bring a sense of joy and happiness at the thought of getting to share with others all that God has been teaching them!For other people, it can bring a sense of panic because..well...maybe their quiet time hasn't been that good lately and they feel like they're about to be exposed! The question sends them into the moral dilemma of, "Do I give a general, vague, answer, or be honest?!?"Yet still others may feel confusion. They think they know what the phrase means but they aren't totally sure if they're doing it just right. Well I have been all of those people. Sometimes, all within one week! On this episode, Brandon and I hope to help define not only what a quiet time is, but what quality time with God is also. We really try to do this in a tangible way. Hope you are encouraged! 

Recently I have been doing basically 3 things with my life:Organizing my closetTrying to figure out if Tom Holland and Zendaya are dating, and asking God to draw me closer to Him(Note: not listed in order of importance!)#1 is going significantly better than #2 - I only have one closet/room left and I am knocking it ALL the way out tomorrow. For #2, there is technically no social media evidence, but I remain convinced they are secretly dating. I'll keep you posted! #3 is going beautifully, truly! The process of drawing closer to God is often a lot of things, sometimes hard or unexpected, but I think it is always beautiful. So, I keep trying to think of ways to start this without saying something cheesy like, "Sun! Beach! Sand! Oh my!" Or, "Sand is great for exfoliating your feet, but not a great foundation." Perhaps, "You know what's tougher than trying to run on sand? Making it a foundation for your house." Or maybe I should just type out the entire "The wise man built his house upon the rock" song. Clearly, I have summer brain and my writing skills are currently verrrrrrrry sub-par. BUT! The show must go on! Or the new episode must go live, anyway. Have you ever just wanted to hear a “magic, quick-fix, never struggle with it again” positive body image talk? Because, S.A.M.E.! Unfortunately, I have yet to come across that. I’m actually growing more and more convinced it does not (and will not) ever exist. But equally unfortunate is that I still struggle to have a positive body image (and self image) from time to time.In this episode I talk about my own personal struggle with this, and how Jesus has helped me with walking in the full joy of exactly who He created me to be. Like I mentioned earlier - not a quick fix! Do you ever feel like gentleness is only obtainable by Kindergarten teachers and the extra holy saints? Well, apparently it's not. Apparently it's for everyone because it's a fruit of the Spirit. In this episode we will cover the fifth fruit of the Spirit - kindness. Being kind is an attribute championed by many groups in our world right now and I LOVE it. Even so, it can be a bit of an ambiguous term because it can look like so many different things. So, let's look at how Jesus lives out kindness. In this episode we will start looking at what it means to be like Jesus by walking through each of the elements listed in the fruit of the Spirit. Since love is first, and I’m a by the book kinda girl, we will go ahead and start with love. I truly think if we can get a grasp on what love is, we could change our world. Fake it till you make it, amirite? Faking it, though, can get us in trouble sometimes. In this episode I’ll talk about the difference between acting a certain way and being a certain way. I have personally been learning that I am acting in some areas I didn’t necessarily think I was. And acting can get exhausting if we are honest. jackiemoore.org
