2.18 [CONVERSATION] The Heart of Christianity (Workshop Preview)
18/02/2025 Duración: 51minJason Miller and Chad Meister - This spring, one of our workshop offerings, The Heart of Christianity, will explore the roots, stories, and practices of Christian faith, and we wanted to introduce its teacher and preview its content. Participants will gain a greater understanding of 2,000 years of Christian history, with an expansive view of various traditions within the larger Christian world. Themes include core Christian beliefs, the early Church, monastic spirituality, the Reformation, the relationship between science and Christian faith, and personal and communal spiritual practices. It's also a good companion experience for those preparing for baptism on Easter, but it's not a requirement to be baptized. Enjoy this conversation between our lead pastor, Jason Miller, and workshop teacher Chad Meister. Chad is a scholar of world religions, a prolific author, an affiliate of the Ansari Institute for Global Engagement with Religion at Notre Dame, and a founding board member of SBCC. 2.16 [CONVERSATION] Know Our Neighbors (wk 3) - La Casa de Amistad
17/02/2025 Duración: 57minJason Miller and Juan Constantino - Loving our neighbors is at the heart of what Jesus calls us to, but it’s hard to love our neighbors if we don’t know our neighbors. So for three weeks, we’re hearing from partners who can help us understand what others are facing, whether here in the neighborhood, or in the global community. These conversations will give us the chance to grow in empathy and become more educated about what some of the most vulnerable people in our world are experiencing, and what we can do to help. This week, we talked with Juan Constantino, CEO of La Casa de Amistad, a youth and community center that's been around since 1973. Their mission is to empower our Latino, Hispanic, and immigrant community throughout the entire region with educational programs, social services, legal services, and advocacy support. What’s Happening RSVP to one of our upcoming New to SBCC Tables. The next opportunities are March 9 (in-person) and March 10 (via Zoom). Register for one of the two upcoming Lent Works

2.11 [CONVERSATION] Ireland, Peace, and Pilgrimage
11/02/2025 Duración: 55minJason Miller, Todd Deatherage, and Corrie Commisso - In early December, members of South Bend City Church traveled to Ireland and Northern Ireland on a pilgrimage. We went to learn more about history and conflict, and to be inspired by the healing work of individuals, organizations, and communities. One of the features of our time there was the chance to see the work of our friends at Redeemer Central Church in Belfast. The point of the trip was to bring these lessons home as we continue our journey as a community of grace and peace for our city and the world. Hear about our experience from our lead pastor, Jason, our partner and trip leader from the Telos Group, Todd Deatherage, and trip participant Corrie Commisso. Ways to Get Connected Join our Discord! 12.22 [TEACHING] Practices of Advent (wk 4)
23/12/2024 Duración: 40minJason Miller - The stories of the birth of Jesus in the Gospels are given to us for more than sentimental Christmas tales. They're the narrative expression of the deep wisdom of our faith. The arrival of God in the life of Jesus can teach us how to look for and welcome of the arrival of God in our world right now. This year, we're bringing that wisdom forward into our own lives by not just hearing the stories, but by embodying the practices inherent in the stories. This week, we’re reminded of the power of showing up, and the deep work of becoming fully present. What’s Happening Join us for Christmas Eve at 4p or 11p, or through the podcast, and please note that there will be no gatherings or podcast on December 29th. Give to our Christmas Offering.
