Deuteronomy 7 & 8 What does it mean to be in covenant relationship with God, and how are we to live this out? This week it leads us to a distressing question …why did God call for the annihilation of the Canaanites? And, what are we, as New Testament believers, to understand and respond to this text. Deuteronomy 6:4-5 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:4, 5, NIV. This is considered by many to be the very heart of the Old Testament, and Jesus Himself (Mark 12:29-31) said the entire Old Testament hangs on this and Leviticus 19:18. This is where we will hang our hat this Sunday, as Dr. Colin Toffelmire unpacks the heart of the Old Testament and the hope that is ours in Jesus.

Deuteronomy 5 Have you ever made a promise you came to regret? Most of us have, and yet we make them, and we seek them. In this new series “Promises and other crazy things we say” we’re looking at the word ‘covenant’, and nature of our promise-making and promise-keeping God. This Sunday we’re in Deuteronomy 5 and considering what may be the most famous passage in the entire bible, “The 10 Commandments”.

Deuteronomy 3:12-29 Jesus will never abandon us in our mistakes, but the consequences of sin may remain and be painful. However, there is an invitation to journey with Jesus and let Him redeem even the most painful of circumstances. Are you willing to invite His redemption?

Deuteronomy 1:6 My expectations would be that, if God says something like this (Deut. 1: 6), what follows would be upward and to the right. But the spies were scared and the people rebelled and then chased their tails in the wilderness. Sound familiar? Are you tired enough of quail in the desert?

John 17:1-5 Have you ever found yourself crying out, “Help me, God!”? Of course you have, as have I! My desire is that we would learn to pray more effectively. To move towards this, I will lead us in a review of Jesus “High Priestly Prayer”, as He prayed the night before He was betrayed. You’d be welcome to read John 17:1-5. Regardless, please choose to be with us this coming Sunday at 9 am or 11 am. It’s going to be a great morning to seek the Lord in worship, prayer and His word.
