It has been said that man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air...but only for one second without hope. I am not sure of those numbers, but I am sure of this one thing, ‘we need hope just about more than we need anything. God knew this when He made Joshua this promise after the death of Moses, ‘NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO STAND UP AGAINST YOU ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE. As I was with Moses, so I WILL BE WITH YOU, I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.

A statement I’ve made many times is a truth to help us have hope in the midst of our daily living; ‘peace is not an absence of problems it is confidence in the one who holds the solutions.’ It is the same with security... security is not the absence of danger, but confidence in the presence of God, no matter what the danger. When we have hope in and the hope of Christ in our lives nothing will be able take us or keep us down.

It has never been an issue of who knows God better; it is always an issue of faithfulness. God is faithful to us, and all He desires is that we be faithful to him. Christianity is like a marathon. It is hardly ever those who run the fastest that win and it is virtually always those that commit to the long haul who come out winners. We are already winners scripture calls us… ‘More Than Conquerors’, which means we have won even before the battle began. Victory has little to do with ability. Let me encourage you… God has taken the most unlikely candidates over the years and brought about amazing results and throughout biblical history God calls them winners.

Parables are like this, built on ‘life images’ to help people see God’s plan. Yet what is clear is that everything begins with what we have… FAITH IS THE POWER OF THE SEED. If we can and will believe God can do the much we need with the little we may have! In the book of Hebrews chapter 11 scripture tells us clearly that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. It declares BY FAITH WE UNDERSTAND! So what is faith? Simply put, it is the confident assurance that something we want is going to happen. It is the certainty that what we hope for is waiting for us, even though we cannot see it up ahead.

Everything that the bible records, is as much in effect today as it ever has been. When we read God’s Word, especially the words spoken by Jesus, we’ll find them to be not only awe-inspiring but also life changing, if we allow them. The problem remains that many people, even God’s people; hear God’s Word, but they do not understand God’s Word and because of this, many do not obey God’s Word! My passion as your pastor has always been to help everyone that will to understand and thereby, apply God’s Word to his or her life. Join us this week as Pastor Tim begins a new series that will help each of us understand God’s Way of doing things. It is God’s plan to bless His people in a host of different ways, but we’ll only see it done as we accept, apply and do things God’s way.

We all have desires, hopes, and dreams. This is part of being made in God’s image; we have in each of us a desire to create. Yet, there is a major significance between us and God. I know that sounds like a ‘Duh’ statement there is this reality, especially when it comes to our dreams. God creates out of nothing; yet we create under His guidance, teaching, direction and provision. Do all dreams come from God? Will all of our dreams come true? We must understand that dreams are living and vibrant, but like flowers and trees that do have a season and a time in which to produce and/or come to fruition. As in life, dreams are always developing and changing, but realize they are also growing and/or dying. This week we’ll begin our new series, ‘Making Dreams Come True; God’s Part, Our Part.’ Is it easy to make our dreams come true? Are all dreams from God? What does it take? Do we have part in the process?

The emotional pain inflicted on us by others can be far worse than the physical wounds we will ever experience in life. How many of you now have or once had a broken heart? A huge gaping hole in your heart that was left by someone or some circumstances that should not have been or would not have been if someone or something when differently. Sadly, some feel that this hole can never be filled and that you will be left with the hollow in your heart forever? So, what is the right ointment for wounded hearts? It is something that is hard to admit, yet very easy to recognize. It is one of the most destructive and dangerous of all human emotions. Still, if not dealt with... this emotion will spiritually destroy the person who has it and will negatively affect everyone this person comes into contact with. It is called ‘the root of bitterness’.
