He paints to invoke both a sense of child-like wonder and serenity.

Our hosts Peter Mohrbacher and Sam Flegal are joined by 1FW workshop instructor and professional artist Steve Argyle on today's episode of One Fantastic Week. Exhibiting a wide palette of skills, Steve Argyle has been creating visual experiences since 1995. He has helped craft and detail the look of fantastic worlds ranging from Magic the Gathering to Star Wars. Steve also has nearly a decade of experience in studio environments creating 3D CGI for games and film. Steve is fueled by passion for bringing beloved characters to life. Also by copious amounts of caffeine.

One Fantastic Week is back from this year's Gen Con! One of the largest convention for artists in the US. To digest this experience we have a panel of artists on to discuss.

After graduating and working for five years bound to a cubicle as a production graphic artist, she quit to pursue her original passion of art. After graduating with a degree in tuba performance, she worked in information management before switching to art full-time. She finds her imagination most stoked when finding the remnants or impressions of people left on natural environments and visualizes unreal destinations to recreate that sense of adventure.

Naomi VanDoren is an artist, who has spent much of my life abroad. She grew up in the Spice Islands of Indonesia. A childhood of travel and immersion into a variety of cultures at such a young age has left her with the desire to explore the earth and share her experiences through art. She has a formal education in graphic design and began pursuing illustration on her own after moving to Japan in 2013. She dove deep into painting digitally full time, and her passion for drawing and painting blossomed. In 2015, she experienced painting in watercolor for the first time and found it to be the perfect medium for traveling and she hasn't put it down since.

Jodie Snow is a fantasy artist from the south of England. She's also the backbone of the Kickstarter success The Enchanted Forest Art Book. Jodie has more than 10 years of experience traversing the convention scene in Europe and today she's sitting down with our hosts to discuss what options are out there for European artists.

Matthew Warlick is a Dallas-based artist and designer. Over the past 18 years, he has worked with some of the world’s top agencies, software developers, and brands to bring creative projects to life. He is a creative Swiss Army Knife: a visual & graphic designer, user experience & interface designer, illustrator, comic book artist, and all-around creative thinker & problem solver. Clients and brands he has worked with include: Frito Lay, Jack Daniel’s, NORML, Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Acura, PetSmart, Jack in The Box, The Texas Tourism Department and Marvel Comics. His artwork has appeared in books From Red 5 Comics, Image Comics and The Marvel Masterpiece and Topps Star Wars Trading Card Series.

Ryan Friant has been drawing and doodling ever since he could hold a pencil. He was inspired by fantasy art, mythology and fairytales, Brian Froud and his work with Jim Henson on films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth, and stop-motion animation. When he started hand-making polymer clay art dolls and pulling in all of these early influences that have stuck with him, he realized that he could make his sketches come to life, feel more like a complete reality than he ever could with two-dimensional art.

Today our hosts are joined by professional artist Sam Guay to review Annabelle's progress. Annabelle is best known for weaving monochromatic palettes with gold leaf to illustrate a smorgasbord of interests: nature, history, mythology, and the occult. Each piece has a story to tell and is meant to pull the viewer into a mysterious world full of macabre creatures and beautiful - but fearsome - goddesses. She is based in Austin, TX, where you're most likely to find her chasing after snakes and lizards or foraging for interesting bones.
