Sarah Turner - 4 Pines Brewing Co
15/03/2022 Duración: 54minThis week we discuss all things hospitality as we chat with Sarah Turner- Beer Education & Experiences, Community & Culture Developer at 4 Pines Brewing Co. Having spent 13 years at 4 Pines, Sarah was a very early hire at the brewery when it was one of the foundational breweries in Sydney. Coming from a background in pubs, Sarah played a significant role in establishing 4 Pines as a hospitality venue, at a time when hospitality wasn’t always a focus for start-up breweries. We talk about what is involved in good venue hospitality, but also the challenges of scaling up and adding venues while retaining the same culture and feel of the original. We also discuss some of the challenges involved in working in hospitality, including Sarah’s own decision to step back and take a break, before returning to 4 Pines and assuming her current role. It’s a great chat with someone who has made a career of craft and has had a big influence on her corner of it. Our partners Brewstaff - partners with some of Australia's

Nick Cogger - Better Beer
01/03/2022 Duración: 01h14minThis week, Better Beer as we speak with the person behind that brand, Nick Cogger. Better Beer has become something of a Piñata for craft beer drinkers, particularly since its top 10 finish in this years’ GABS Hottest 100 Craft Beers, for a beer that doesn’t fit more traditional definitions of craft. But even in his mid 30s Nick is no newcomer to the world of beer, with almost two decades in the industry already. As you’ll hear, Nick discovered the world of brewing when his father set up a Brew for U when Nick was just 16. In this conversation we learn a lot about the industry through the prism of what Nick has learned through what he calls his ‘unsuccessful businesses’ that have led him to the juggernaut that is Better Beer, launched with The Inspired Unemployed and also craft accelerator Might Craft. We'll also learn why The Inspired Unemployed aren’t influencers, they are creators…and there is a meaningful difference. Ben Kraus - Bridge Road Brewing
25/01/2022 Duración: 01h06minAs one of the original craft brewers, Ben has been a frequent guest on this podcast over the last 12 years. In many ways, both Bridge Road and Brews News have grown up together, shaped by the ever changing industry in which we operate. When I am asked which breweries in Australia really exemplify the craft beer or indie ethos, Ben and Bridge Road are always in that list. Which is why it’s interesting to watch the way that Bridge Road has grown and evolved over its life and in this chat we look at some of the recent initiatives that the business has undertaken - no alc beers brewed in house, a Melbourne-based venue, an employee share scheme. We also talk about some of the perennial favourites…transparency, labelling, provenance and the importance of independence. There’s always insight and passion in a conversation with Ben and we hope you enjoy it. Mark Haysman - Mighty Craft
21/12/2021 Duración: 56minThis week we catch up again with Mighty Craft CEO and Managing Director, Mark Haysman. We first spoke to Mark way back in February 2019 shortly after the business, then named Founders First, announced that it had invested in Newcastle’s Foghorn Brewhouse. In that conversation Mark introduced the craft beer accelerator’s vision and outlined its unique model. That conversation spurred a lot on interest from brewers who reached out to us wanting to be put in contact with Mark, which certainly spoke of the promise that the vision for the business held out. This week, two years after it listed on the ASX, I wanted to revisit those conversations and see how the business was delivering on its early vision. While craft beer was a major focus in our early chats, the business has more recently spoken more about its plans for spirits, it has enunciated a shifting vision for hospitality and most recently the founders-focused craft accelerator has had what is its apparently biggest success with manufactured marketing-d
