At the 11th hour we switched our plans of covering Vamp, which would have continued our vampire campaign. We decided to go a different route to focus on a hidden gem. A little Canon/HBO film that wasn't a huge commercial success and flew under the radar when it was released. Undoubtedly, one of the best cast films. Brilliant performances and a smart script makes this film a must see. Some may argue this isn't a horror film but with the amount of dread it dishes out, I say differently. Since 1985 was a fantastic year for horror we decided to capitalize off the coincidence that this was our 85th episode and focus on another film from that year. it wasn't easy to pick which movie we wanted to cover. In the end we decided to continue on the Tobe Hooper Vampire Train. We're jumping from 1979's Salem Lot to another film about life suckers and giving the Horror 101 treatment to Hooper's Lifeforce. It was a screen adaptation of Stephen King's second novel involving the vampire infestation of a small town, directed by the man that gave us The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Having to adhere to television's strict guidelines of zero gore and profanity, this special was well crafted with an excellent cast and genuine spooks. In 1983 Stephen King wrote a novel which incorporated a bunch of his personal experiences and wrapped them in a supernatural blanket of evil, violence and despair. By the end of the book he had completely freaked himself out with what he had written and shelved the story but it became a huge best seller anyway. Several years later, Mary Lambert would go on to direct her vision of that story. Welcome to our 80th podcast! Just in time for Halloween! We decided to put our money where our mouth is. After giving strong opinions about the relevance and necessity of Halloween 2018 we went to see it and begin this show with some of our thoughts on the new movie. There will be SPOILERS! And since Luca Guadagnino's remake of Suspiria will be hitting theatres in a few days there will never be a better time to cover Argento's fan-favourite original from 1977. Is it enough that Jamie Lee Curtis is coming back to play Laurie Strode and John Carpenter will be making the music? A string of early 80s horror films went the 3D route. Jaws 3, Amityville 3 and the spotlight of this show, Steve Miner's Friday the 13th Part III. This third chapter in the Friday Franchise has tons of flaws, which we highlight in detail but there is still some elements that lock in Friday III as historically significant. This film cost Paramount a LOT of money to prepare it for 3D audiences. Did this strategy force the production to put all the money in the wrong places? Is it possibly the worst Friday of the series?
