Community Board Podcast

We are a volunteer organization that is made up of Young Professionals for Young Professionals. We come form diverse backgrounds and industries to collaborate together on projects and events. This is not an entreprenuer group or a 35 & under group. While we have entreprenuers and young people involved, we are not restrictive on who can join. If you self-identify as a young professional, we welcome you with open arms and encourage you to get involved. Even if you do not self-identify as a young professional, you are still more than welcome at any of our events. We hope to meet you and see you soon!

What is COMPARE-UF? COMPARE-UF is a registry designed with input from women with fibroids that will gather information from women having treatment for uterine fibroids. This information will be used to help future patients, clinicians, and others make the most informed decisions about the best type of treatment for each patient's situation. compare-uf.org/

Art on the Ave is an annual spring art fair showcasing local artisans and musicians in Slatterly Park. The event features painters, glass blowers, metal workers, jewelers, musicians and a plant sale. The highlight of the event is unveiling the installation of a permanent boulevard sculpture, which will be the eleventh public sculpture brought to Slatterly Park Neighborhood.

The Rochester Civic Theatre’s Civic Live series is pleased to present the next Women on Wednesdays panel and discussion, "Politics of Beauty, Part I: Black Hair - Still Tangled in Politics" on Wednesday, April 13 at 5:00 pm. Our discussion moderator will be writer and anthropologist Nicole Nfonoyim-Hara. Raised in New York City, she was born in the Dominican Republic with Cameroonian, Afro-Costa Rican, and Indian ancestry. Her writing, research, and activism grapples with issues of migration, diasporas, cities, identity formation and politics, culture, and both personal and collective myth-making. In 2008, she was awarded a Fulbright research grant to create a visual ethnography with African migrant men in Madrid, Spain. She received her BA from Swarthmore College and holds a Masters degree from the University of Oxford. She currently lives in Rochester, MN. stART-up fund program The Rochester Downtown Alliance is looking for new partners to help us continue to make downtown Rochester a vibrant place. Funds range up to $1,000 or $3,000 for grassroots artists or organizers putting on events that are diverse, different, new (i.e. first-time), and celebrate arts & culture in downtown Rochester! There will be in informational workshop about the stART-up fund on Wednesday, March 16th from Noon-1:00 p.m. at the People’s Food Co-op.
