Villainous Variety
29/06/2022 Duración: 01h07minHow do we create fun and interesting villains in our stories? Villains, every story needs one. The heroes of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign are likely to face dozens of villains before the campaign runs its course. Coming up with that many memorable villains can challenge any DM’s imagination. To help with that, we offer this extensive list of villainous attributes and characteristics. The purpose of these lists is not to roll out a ready-to-play villain, although they could be used that way. They can steer your creativity onto pathways that you wouldn’t take otherwise. We all fall into creative patterns. Allowing a chance to play a role in the creative process helps to break those patterns and produces ideas that we’d never turn out purely on our own.

Adventuring Party Sheets in Dungeons & Dragons
13/04/2022 Duración: 01h05minWhat if your D&D Party had a Character Sheet? In Dungeons & Dragons each player has a character sheet, but what about the party? Well, thanks to TikToker Scene Four, we know the answer. The party as a whole isn’t much different from each character. Why not give a character sheet to your party in addition to their individual characters? Imagine it for a moment. At the start of the campaign or in Session 0 the players decide what type of adventuring party they want to be. Once they know the type of party they want to be at, this can help them decide the types of adventures they want to take on. This not only helps the players decide what type of game they want to run but also helps the Dungeon Master in deciding what sort of encounters or story hooks to build.

Dungeon Master Tips for Embracing DM's Truths
09/03/2022 Duración: 01h03minThis episode of Crit Academy is brought to you by our generous Sponsor Fates End Furhaven I saw a DnD meme some time ago that got me thinking. It said "GM Tips for Embracing DM's Truths". Now, normally I just keep scrolling, but the details caught me and got me pondering a few things. So I wanted to get the guys' perspectives and share my own thoughts on them. Below are a number of truths that underlie the process of running RPGs, and they’re worth the time it takes to regularly review them. We even add our own truths. Everyone-you and the players alike-plays an RPG to have fun. Players often don't care as much as you think. Players want to see their characters do awesome things. As the GM, you are not the enemy. A GM should always be a fan of the characters. Players love breaking the game. You should too-and then let the game evolve rather than have a game-breaking scenario become the norm.
