The Type A Creative

Building a creative practice or an artistic business is something that we know might take a long time. But when we get into the dailyness of writing the book, building the business or creating the audience — it takes SO much longer than we expect! Most of us just want to know that we're on the right path, even if we're going super slow. So if you're crawling through your creative project, this one goes out to you! 

This week is all about my favorite things — SYSTEMS. Especially as Type A people, we can all feel like we have too many pots boiling, and we're behind and letting life happen to us. Today on the show I have one of my favorite business friends Paige Buck, and we're talking about the systems and hacks we have in place to create a highly efficient life.  

Burn out and adrenal fatigue are super real, for both Type As and non-Type As. We've talked about Type A Creative Burn Out in earlier episodes, but today we are taking on the clinical side of being super driven with acupuncturist and energy worker, Amy Kurtesky. Amy is sharing some of the perspectives she has to offer from Chinese Medicine to look at systems and patterns that happen in your body when you're hustling on all cylinders.  

This week on The Type A Creative Podcast I have Caitlin Horton of Horton Brand Strategy. Caitlin is a through and through strategist who rarely does things without an ROI in mind. But Caitlin is also a very successful author, who has published a book outside of her brand strategy studio.   In this episode we talk about:  when and how to apply goals to your passion projects  what it feels like to see stacks of books in your house that you have to sell  self publishing vs. going with a publisher  paying to make a creative project when you can't get paid to make something 

This week on The Type A Creative we have Sonia Ruyts and Kimberly Rich chatting about what it's like to write a book while running a business. Both Sonia and Kim are coaches that work with creatives, they both host their own podcasts, and they both are fighting for time to finally write their book already!

In this episode Jay Sherer and Jenni talk about the point of art — who is it for, and how do we know when we're doing a good job? Jay's view toward art is almost philosophical, and he brings a sociological, political and spiritual lens to why we need to create meaningful work and push for larger impact with our creations.

Several months ago, Jenni and Lauren sat down to talk about whether or not Lauren should pursue her art full time. She was considering ways to mesh her "main gig" with her art. Her ideas include: a) starting a web design studio again or b) getting a non-creative job like bagging groceries. There was also an elusive 3rd option: c) going full-time into her art.
