Military history is not just about those men and women who serve on the front lines, or lead forces in great battles at the top of the command chain. For true fans of military aviation, there is nothing they love more than talking about aircraft “that might have been.” Over nearly a century of military aviation, literally thousands of designs were created that never made it off the drawing board, much less into actual production. Most are little more than footnotes in the history of military flying, but some have a lasting appeal and interest to enthusiasts, who by millions of books and videos every year detailing their favorite terminated aircraft design. Usually these take the form of specialty publications with their information drawn from deep within corporate and national archives. Occasionally however, a book comes along which takes a deeper look at these programs, and just what they might've looked like had they ever gone into series production.
