 2014 is going to be a year of massive and permanent change for the men and women of the US military and their families. The strategic shift of U.S. military forces to the Pacific, known as "The Pivot to the Pacific" is nearly two years old.  By the time it is completed, roughly 60% of the U.S. Navy will be based in the Pacific, a direct response to the growing maritime power and strategies of other nations in the region. From Japan to the Indian subcontinent, a naval buildup unprecedented since the early 20th century is presently underway, with virtually every class of ships from aircraft carriers to nuclear submarines being constructed by nations concerned with their access to maritime trade routes and economic  resource zones.
