Polonium Poisoning
26/01/2017 Duración: 52minThis week Gustav delivers a solo episode where he brings you a lecture about Polonium poisoning, a brief history of Chechnya, and the assassination of Alexander Litvenenko. Stealing a page from historian and documentary maker James Burke, Gustav tries to weave a tale of how history and science combined to explain the assassination of former KGB/FSB officer Alexander Litvenenko. Starting off with a brief history of Chechnya and their resistance to any outside forces, Gustav lays the foundation for the tale. He then turns to Paris in 1898 as Pierre and Marie Curie break ground in the fledgling science of nuclear physics. Madame Curie discovered Polonium, which she was awarded one of her Nobel Prizes for her research. Moving to the twentieth century, the Chechen interaction with the powers of the Soviet Union continue their pattern of resistance and and punitive actions. With the discussion of World War II, he moves to the United States Manhattan Project and their usage of Polonium for the fledgling nuclear a

Charlie’s Angels Chain Gang Episode
14/01/2017 Duración: 01h03minThe normal Can You Hear Me crew wasn't able to get together, so Gustav took the opportunity to sit down and record with long time e-mailer and listener Jordan Mercury to talk about life and the Charlie's Angels chain gang episode. The scene of an old man sitting across from the embodiment of America's youth started off with pretty much how you would it expect it to. Gustav rants about how society has been sold a bill of goods for "Following your dreams and passions" for your career. It's classic Gustav and typical old man rhetoric. But things take a turn for the weird when JJ and Gustav discuss the generational attitudes toward masturbation. Gustav looks back at how the Charlie's Angels episode where they go under cover in a women's prison s shaped his early childhood development. And JJ is amazed at how uptight the old people are about discussing the devil's playground. The two then talk about how Ty sounds like Todd Packer from "The Office" played by David Koechner, the weirdness of Davey and Goliath a

Daisy Duke, Gary Busey and Grizzly Adams
12/05/2016 Duración: 42minThis week's episode is a special emergency episode of the Can You Hear Me? Podcast. We ran out of pre-recorded material and could not manage to get together to record. With Heavy lost somewhere in a thicket in the 903 Wilderness and Ty off being a professional and doing professional things, Gustav was left on his own. Through the miracle of Skype, Gustav enlisted his lesbian best friend of the last 20 years, the Fake Bailey Jay, to help out with this week's episode. One of the Fake Bailey Jay's passions is horror movies and that has led her down the sometimes bizarre path of attending horror fan conventions. Not content to slum it with the plebes, Fake Bailey Jay has coughed up the cash to elevate herself to VIP status and jump ahead of the ordinary people. Gustav is fascinated by the alternate reality, where character actors get paid to sign 8x10 glossy photos of themselves from 30 years ago and to take selfies with adoring fans. The Fake Bailey Jay explains how the conventions work and then talks ab
