  • Special Episode - Secret Diary of Laura Palmer

    03/02/2017 Duración: 01h29min

Wherein we discuss the 1990 tie-in novelization of Laura's secret diary. **Deals with sensitive subject matter. Listener discretion advised** The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer lends itself well to critical, feminist, and psychological interpretations, and we touch on all three areas as we delve into the plot points, similarities and differences between the book and what we see onscreen, and the larger implications to TV audiences and pop culture consumers (especially considering the recent announcement about the Twin Peaks Funko Pop! dolls and action figures.) *Apologies for ~20:30 when Lindsay whacked the microphone...she's a hand talker...*

  • Episode 15 - Lonely Souls

    01/02/2017 Duración: 01h38min

What does Agent Cooper find in Laura's Secret Diary? How does Ben Horne fit into all of this? And who's that in the mirror there...? Also: Pete gets a kiss! Bobby fixes Leo's new shoes! Nadine has a milkshake!

  • Special Episode - On The Air

    20/01/2017 Duración: 28min

A special episode all about that OTHER Lynch/Frost production that ran on ABC during the early 1990s...the weirdly wonderful sitcom On The Air, starring Ian Buchanan and Miguel Ferrer as players on the ground floor of a decidedly off-kilter 1950s TV variety show. The show ran for 3 weeks before being cancelled by ABC, and although all 7 episodes have been available (in semi-official and bootleg form) for some time, it has never enjoyed a wide home release, in spite of many fans' hopes. Our discussion of this short-lived series is short, it's sweet, it's to the point, and there's actual bickering in it! How can you go wrong? (Dedicated to the memory of Miguel Ferrer -- February 7, 1955 - January 19, 2017) Links: On The Air YouTube playlist

  • Episode 13 - The Orchid's Curse

    18/01/2017 Duración: 01h17min

In which things get really serious for the major players. Donna and Harold amp up their relationship, and Donna finds herself in a precarious position; both Leland and Leo are going home; and Agent Cooper finally figures out where Audrey is, and devises a plan to rescue her. Also: Andy's a whole damn town! Bobby gets a lift! Hawk kills a guy! We wish for the first (and only) time that we were watching this in glorious 480i in 1990 instead of in the 1080p of our modern Blu-ray set on our HDTV because lordy lordy Harold Smith, that is a fake way to scratch your face off... Notes: Doctor Jacoby talking about the red/logical, blue/intuitive dichotomy (under 3D Glasses heading) **Spoilers for TSHoTP** David Lynch on the colour blue: "Reflections: An Oral History of Twin Peaks" by Brad Dukes...though I cannot for the life of me find the quote now to give you a page number! • Episode 12 - Laura's Secret Diary

    10/01/2017 Duración: 01h16min

Wherein we delve into the mysteries of Laura's secret diary. Leland's been arrested for the murder of Jacques Renault; Donna's flirtation with Harold leads to some revelations from Laura's diary; and Agent Cooper finally realizes what's happened to Audrey, and puts a plan in place to save her. Also: Who is M.T. Wentz? How much did Josie really spend on lingerie in Seattle? And what's going on with Andy's sperms? This marks the first appearance of Aidan's Terrible German, which he hopes to make a regular feature of this show. Please write in and tell him to stop, and while you're at it, peruse the German episode titles for yourself.

More details can be found here **We apologize for the fact that, yes, we are eating cherry pie and drinking coffee; please excuse the cutlery sounds that managed to squeak through. Also, Lindsay is recovering from a bout with bronchitis, so her voice is a bit weak and funny-sounding (to her, anyway...)**

  • Episode 11 - The Man Behind the Glass

Emory moves on up to the A/V department at One Eyed Jack's! Nadine wakes up! Notes: Opiate addiction and sugar cravings Laura's Secret Diary: This tie-in novel was released on 15 September 1990, but while heavily featured in this and subsequent episodes it contains little of the material presented on screen. • Episode 7 - Realization Time

    07/12/2016 Duración: 01h14min

Wherein Aidan and Lindsay dive into the unseemly world of One Eyed Jacks with Agent Cooper and Audrey Horne, pay a visit to the Johnson Family Farm with Bobby Briggs, and watch Donna, James, and Maddy listen to cassette tapes like any good red-blooded teenagers (only instead of the latest Fine Young Cannibals album, they get to hear their dearly departed friend admit her deepest, darkest secrets to her creepy psychotherapist...six of one, really...) Also: Leo is angry! Catherine smells insurance fraud! Ed wears a wig! Cherry stems!!! Links: Mynah birds The opening title sequence features a Bewick's Wren (or a Varied Thrush...depends on who you talk to!) You can read more about the opening titles here Vertical Service Codes, which are how one might access a feature like *69/1471 to call back the last number that called you, wasn't truly widely available until the 90s, so it's doubtful this could have been in use here.
